Features
Single boiler, dual-purpose system
- Brass: The small 250 ml boiler helps keep a constant water temperature and facilitate the espresso coffee extraction.
- High wattage heating element: 1000 watt heating element for quicker reaction time when cold water enters the boiler.
- Very quick warm-up time: We clocked the warm-up time for this machine (this includes the grouphead and portafilter when locked in) to be ~10 minutes. This is mainly due to the high wattage of the heating element and small size brass boiler. We found this to be very convenient for morning warm-ups, especially when in a rush.
- Security thermostat and security valve: For better pressure control.
Three-way solenoid valve – Allows immediate removal of the portafilter immediately after the espresso extraction has ceased (or when the pump switch in coffee mode is turned off).
Controls
- Power switch: Located on the back right of the unit. Not difficult to reach and also keeps it out of the way of the rest of the main controls.
- Three-way switch: Located on the front middle of the unit. Selects between the different modes. The up position is the steam mode. The middle is hot water mode. The down is the coffee mode.
- Pump switch: Located on the front right of the unit. Used to activate the pump for coffee or hot water mode.
- Steam/water knob: Located on the right of the espresso machine. Allows you to control the intensity of the steam or water output.
Steam/water wand
- Multi-purpose: Used for both steam or hot water depending on the current mode.
- Multi-directional: Enables you to prepare creamy cappuccinos.
- Very short wait time: The small boiler and high wattage heating element, combined with the PID controller cut the wait time from coffee to steam considerably.
- Polymer tubing: The tubing that connects the boiler to steam / hot water valves are alimentary. They can withstand high pressure, withstand high temperatures up to 620 °F, facilitate easier repairs, and most importantly, are limescale free.
Construction
- Stainless steel body and frame: Polished to a mirror finish and rust-resistant.
- Water tank visibility: There is an opening on the left side of the machine that allows you to see the water level. This is a lot easier than opening the top cover and peeking in.
- Drip tray: The tray is made of plastic. The cover is made of stainless steel. Both are removable for easy cleaning.
PID display & pressure gauge
- PID display: Allows the temperature of the boiler to be programmed for different coffees.
- Pressure gauge: Displays in real time the pressure during coffee extraction. You only need 9-10 bars to make espresso. This gauge will help perfect your espresso shot.
Vibratory (Vibration) pump
- Efficient: 41 watts, rated up to 15 bar with air valve bypass. Only 9 bar is necessary to extract espresso, and also wattage has no correlation to longevity.
- Cost-effective: Pumps will degrade in performance over time. Replacing a vibration pump will be less costly than a rotary vane pump.
Accessories included
- Portafilters: Dual spout portafilter.
- Filter baskets: 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams. Pod filter basket for use with E.S.E. pods. 57 mm in diameter.
- Tamper: A cheap plastic tamper. Manufacturers will normally include a tamper like this to keep the overall selling price of the machine low. We recommend upgrading to a better tamper.
- Coffee scoop: A simple plastic scoop if you are using preground coffee.
Instructional manual.

Notes
- WARNING: This is a single boiler machine. Machines in this class do not fill the internal boiler from the reservoir automatically. Since the water level drops in the boiler during steaming, you need to replenish this to avoid damage to the heating element. The only way to do this is to run water through the steam wand with the hot water switch. This does not apply when extracting espresso.
- Use with pods: This machine is pod-capable. Please note though, shots from pods will never be as good as a pod-only machine. Also, pods will not be as good as fresh consistently ground coffee used on this machine.
- Similar Lelit models: Just to prevent any possible rumors, we are NOT clearing out any PL41 inventory for the PL51 model made by Lelit. We will not be carrying the PL51 machine as we do not like the cheaper switches placed on this machine, plus the fact that there is no three-way solenoid valve (suitable to have as this allows the user to immediately remove the portafilter right after turning off the coffee switch).
- Maximum pump pressure: 15 bar (hint: a machine only needs 9 bar of brew pressure for espresso extraction. Anything higher is only a gimmick started by different manufacturers many years ago to attract sales. Since a few manufacturers do this, many have followed suit).
- PID fluctuation: Please note that during an espresso extraction, the incoming cold water will reduce the temperature in the PID display. This is normal. In steam mode, the temperature shown on the PID display will be higher than the programmed temperature.
- Steaming mode: While the machine is heating up for steam, some water may drip out of the grouphead. Please note this is normal.
General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

Hi, I'm looking for a pressurized filter basket to fit the Lelit Anna. I saw that at some point you carried it, but you don't have it anymore. Would you be able to order one for me or suggest where I can find one?

Sorry, we are unsure as our supplier no longer can get them.
I have a Lelit Anna PL41TEM purchased in May of 2019 that has a leaking steam valve. Even when I've twisted the knob fully closed, water steams out when I pull a shot from the grouphead. After searching online, I may have over-tightened the valve in the past. However, I've opened up the machine and I can't find any cracks on either the knob, the small piece of metal, or any other obvious physical defects (happy to provide photos if necessary). I am willing to attempt low-level manual repairs myself.

Unfortunately, one can not see damage with the naked eye tot he steam valve stem (or ones with the gasket on the end) oR damage to the actual inside of the steam valve. Unfortunately, there are multiple versions of the steam valve and steam valve stems, and Lelit has discontinued some parts for older machines. If your machine has a steam valve stem with an end cap gasket, the following part
https://www.1st-line.com/buy/lelit-2200064/resolve the issue. We say 'may' because the valve could also be damaged. If your stem does NOT have the end cap gasket on the stem, it can not be replaced with the aforementioned linked part as the valves are different and in most cases, there is no retrofit kit as far as we know. Since Breville has purchased Lelit, you can also contact them to see if they have the older parts.
Why takes over 20 minutes to get to 95 degrees

This machine normally takes about 10 minutes to warm up when operating at 110 volts. However, if it takes 20 or more minutes to warm up, it could be that there is an issue with the heating element. Please plug the machine into a GFI outlet that has a test reset button. It the GFI trips, that means the heating element is most likely damaged and needs to be replaced.
Hi. I purchase a Lelit PL41TEM a few years ago, and it's been great of course. Just recently, the portafilter basket begin to stick to the group-head after a pull, needing to be pried off. I realized that the gasket probably required replacement, and I happened to have a replacement on hand. After replacing the gasket and cleaning up, the machine would trip the breaker about 3 seconds after power-up. I checked inside the housing but did not find any water or water damage. So I made sure to immediately prime the pump with water when powering up. After a few tries, it seems to be stable now and able to complete a brew. I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be aware of about this machine. It's about 8 years old, and still brews great espresso and cappuccino. Do you think it still has some years of life? Should I stock up on gaskets (and any other replacement parts)? I don't know what I'd do to replace it; is there a better machine for the money? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, -chuck

Please read our article on GFIC outlets.
Without evaluating a machine in our facilities on a +5 year old machine, it is difficult on which parts to recommend other than dispersion screen, portafilter gasket and water softener. Other than this, it becomes a guess on what your machine may require.
There are always better machines for more money, but not sure if there is one better for the same price. It also comes down to usage.

Unfortunately, we do not have any 57 mm bottomless portafilters in stock for the Lelit Anna. Sorry.
I noticed that the backflush instructions have changed: 2g instead of 3g of cleaner, one backflush instead of 3 backflushes per cleaning. Can you explain your rationale for the changes? (I'm more worried about solenoid valve clogging/contamination than I am about how long my pumps last, frankly, they are so cheap and easy to replace, but.....)

It can depend on the machine's pump (vibration versus rotary); age; type, brand and amount of detergent; and most importantly, one long back flushing or 3 shorter back flushes, or backwashes.

Read more answer nowAsked on March 27, 2025 11:31 amA Yes, it can be modified, BUT you risk the damage that can occur with high probability and will void your warranty. The screw is locked with sealant in most cases and the adjustment will damage the screw and sealant. This is how all parties will know. You can also coarsen your grind fineness to bring the pressure down.
I purchased my Lelit Anna PL41TEM from 1st-line in September of 2020. It is now leaking from the steam wand at all times. The machine is unable to achieve pressure to pull shots as pressure is releasing from steam wand.

We suggest descaling the machine through the steam wand. If this does not resolve it, a new stem and/or gaskets may be needed. Please note there are multiple diagrams for multiple versions of this machine, so please research carefully AND match the stem inside your steam valve with the picture on our web site. Sometimes, there are different lengths of the stem, so you may need to measure. Sorry, this one is not easy.
Steam wand won't turn, with or without knob on. This morning after making my espresso, I was frothing the milk and the steam knob wouldn't turn off all the way. I eventually had to switch to the coffee making setting so the steam tube (pannarello) would bleed off the excessive steam. I opened the machine up (after letting it cool down and unplugging it) and was not able (with a wrench) to get the steam wand (it might also be called a tap rod, it's what the knob is connected to) to turn, at all. The brass nut inside (with the opening on it) over the threaded portion of the tap rod revealed a little bit of what looked like calcium deposits. I ended up spraying some WD-40 a few times and eventually got the tap rod to turn. I unscrewed it all the way and removed it, but after I re-inserted it, it keeps popping out again. I don't know if the knob needs replacing (it's discontinued but can be found online) or maybe it's the tap rod.
