Features
Heat exchange system
- Copper, insulation: The boiler is copper which retains heat better than stainless steel. Typically copper boilers are more susceptible to limescale when you compare them to stainless steel boilers. Therefore, we highly recommend using a water softener. The manufacturer wraps the boiler with insulation for maximum heat retention. Internal pipes are also in copper.
- Pull a shot & steam milk at the same time: Steam is always readily available. Hence, there is no wait time going from coffee to steam mode.
- Thermo-siphon double cycle system: Keeps the brew group and the boiler always hot, at the right temperature.
- Polymer tubing connection: From the boiler to steam and hot water valves: Alimentary. Able to withstand high pressure and high temperatures up to 620 °F. Facilitates easier repairs. Most importantly, is limescale resistant.
Manual resettable safety thermostat: Located on top of the boiler.
E-61 grouphead
- Constantly heated: Hot water circulates from the heat exchanger through the grouphead and back to keep the grouphead and your portafilter nice and hot. As a result, the grouphead temperature is constant and stable when compared to other groupheads that have a built-in heating element.
- Pre-infusion: The lever next to the grouphead activates a microswitch which turns on the pump to pump water through the coffee grinds. Pulling the lever halfway up will open the valve to allow water into the grouphead without activating the pump. Please note that true pre-infusion requires a direct water connection whereby the water pressure from the water line creates the true pre-infusion.
Vibratory pump
- Efficient: 41 watts, rated up to 15 bar with air valve bypass. You only need 9 bars to extract perfect espresso, and wattage has no correlation to longevity.
Cost-effective: Pumps will degrade in performance over time. Replacing a vibration pump will cost less than a rotary vane pump.
Tank / reservoir system
- Particle filter: Protects the machine from any unseen particles entering the boiler. You can remove this filter if you are installing an inline water softener.
- Auto-shut off: Prevents burning out the heating element. There is a two-stage shutoff. There is a magnetic float in the water tank that detects when the water is low. The other is the spring-activated plate underneath the water tank that detects when the tank is removed.
Separate steam / hot water wands
- Multi-directional: Allows for more movement and flexibility. The wands connect to the valves at an angle to the side for even more flexibility. As a result, there is less risk of burning oneself from the exposed grouphead.
- No burn: Reduces the risk of burning your fingers. Please note the tip and valve connection are still hot.
- 2-hole steam tip: Allows for a slow gradual build-up of microfoam.
- Rotational knobs: Allows for easier control of the intensity.
Dual pressure gauge
- Steam (boiler) pressure gauge: Top half. Measures from 0 to 4 bar. The optimal pressure is between 0.8 and 1.1.
Brew (pump) pressure gauge: Bottom half. Measures from 0 to 16 bar. The optimal pressure is between 8 and 10.
Steam/hot water wand
- Rotational knobs: Allows for easier control of the intensity. The steam knob is stylized with the iconic Rocket “R”.
- Multi-directional wands: Allows for more movement and flexibility.
- No burn: Allows you to move the wand by touching anywhere on the arm. Please note the tip and the valves are still hot.
- 2-hole steam tip: Allows for a slow gradual build-up of microfoam.
Construction
- Steel body: With a satin finish.
Extremely low feet: This creates a very low profile to fit under most kitchen cabinets.
Power plug: Completely detaches from the espresso machine and can fit into the drip tray for long-term storage.
Accessories included
- Portafilters: 1 dual spout portafilter. 58 mm in diameter.
Filter baskets: 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams. Blind filter basket which you use for backflushing. 58 mm in diameter.
Tamper: A solid 58 mm tamper. Manufacturers normally don’t include a tamper like this to keep the overall selling price of the machine low. One less accessory you will need to buy.
Coffee scoop: A simple plastic scoop if you are using preground coffee.
Instruction manual.

Notes
General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

First, please watch our video about water. Second, please read our article about water. Either the purified water is too clean and the sensor can not pick up the conductivity of the water level in the boiler, OR the refill probe is is corroded with limescale. Otherwise, it can be a fulty wire, a refill probe disintegrated, or brain unit fault.
Regarding PL62S, I need to order the plastic Y-joint that connects the flexible tubing inside the machine. There are 3 of these. I think part 3700021 will work, but i did not find it on the diagram. The bleeder valve and gaskets on the top of my boiler are also leaking. I'd like to replace 9700015, 8700013. Does gasket 8700013 also work for the other fittings on top of the boiler?

Hello. The PL62S diagrams shown in Tables 2 and 3 identify the Y-pipe as part number MC532 (the part is shown in the upper left of the diagrams). Table 4 shows that gasket part number 8700013 is used only for bleeder valve 9700015. The gasket is not shown as used or needed for any other fittings on the top of the boiler.
I have a Lelit Mara that lets out three consecutive beeps when the pressure stat clicks off on the first heat up after the machine is powered on via the main switch. Is this behaviour normal? Additionally are there any other reasons this machine would beep not related to the reservoir reed switch or microswitch? Thank you very much.

This is not normal. It can be a bad wiring, a bad REED switch, reservoir microswitch, or brain unit. Difficult to determine without evaluating the machine.
Hello, I have a Mara PL62S that we purchased from you all a few years ago. I love the machine but are there any modifications or upgrades that you recommend and sell? Can I switch out the water tank reservoir for one from the newer Mara X that is clear and easier to clean? Do you recommend adding a manometer to the E61 grouphead? Are there better feet to add to this machine? It vibrates a lot also by the drip tray and the water tank lid. Any tips on making it more quiet? Thanks for your help!

Sorry, there are no upgrades that we offer except the brew pressure gauge kit by Lelit and their flow control kit. Sorry, there are no better feet. The Mara X water reservoir system can not be changed. As far as the vibating, please check the pump and make sure it is not hitting any metal inside. Otherwise, you may need to test different removable components to see where the noises are coming from.
Hello! I have a problem with my PL62S. I have been using it for about 4 years now and recently I hear water heater boiling and a lot of water discharge in the tub. Also sometimes the pressure when I make a shot of espresso is 8-8.5. But a lot of times the pressure i4-4.5 and sometimes fluctuate between 6-8. Do I need a new pump? Thanks!

It can be the OPV, safety valve, bleeder valve, boiler solenoid valve, and pump is allowing back-flow of steam pressure coming from the boiler or heat exchange pipe. It is probably best for a local professional to look for the potential combination of parts that have failed - usually fail from corrosion from the water.

I was running a backflush routine today on my Lelit Mara PL62S (purchased from you in 2016 and going strong until today) and during the process I heard a mechanical/electronical click and the machine shut off. I tried turning back on and it will not power back on. The power to machine is good. What could have tripped and is there a way to reset or replace a part to fix the issue?

Sorry, this is difficult to determine without seeing the machine. Based on the age of the machine. ee suggest you take it to a local professional to determine the issue caused by backflushing. It just may be coincidental as well.
Hello 1st-Line - I have a Lelit Mara PL62T espresso machine I purchased in 2016. Couple of questions: 1) I see that most of my coffee roasters recommend a temperature of 200 degrees to brew espresso. But the machine seems to start at 230, and when I run the water, the lowest it will ever drop is to 219. Any thoughts on that? 2). Does the machine need to be descaled at all? I’ve heard some people say yes, others no. What’s your opinion. 3). Over the past year, water drips out of the front, the MC377 part and the portafilter. I’ve varied the amount of coffee that goes in there, and it always drips. Is there a fix for that other than a small cup in front to catch the water :). Thanks you so much.

This is not a dual boiler machine, so the programmed temp is higher like other HX machines. When water enters the boiler and HX pipe, it is normal for the colder water to lower the temperature.
The machine should be evaluated to see if it needs a descaling.
As for leaking, you may need a new portafilter gasket, or a new basket.
I purchased my Lelit Mara PL62S in October 2018, about 3 1/4 years ago. Occasionally, when pulling a shot, the brewing pressure will drop to around 0 bars for 1-2 seconds. It then immediately returns to the previous pressure, which is usually 9.5 bars. This began happening sometime in the past year and it is a relatively rare occurrence. Otherwise, the machine is working fine. Is this normal behavior or something that I should be concerned about? Either way, I would like to know what is causing it to occur.

This can be a clogged water softener (take off and test), or an electrical problem, or a grind fineness problem (test with blind filter and if it does not happen, then probably a grind problem)
A The problem is not due to a clogged water softener. Is the electrical option an issue with the machine or our household circuit? Based on my experience, I think it is caused by grinding fineness, over-tamping and/or over-filling the portafilter. Most likely the latter two options. . . It does not happen often. Is it something that can damage the machine or is the symptom the machine protecting itself from potential harm?
