General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

Machine is unable to go above 6 bar despite profile settings higher than this, indicating a mechanical issue rather than one with programing. All wiring and connections checked. No leaks, venting, or waste drainage is observed from the machine, indicating that the issue is not that of an opv or otherwise. The pump is running well without noise and has already had the motor magnet replaced. When HX is turned off within the eco settings, no water flow occurs at all, despite pressure building to the same 6 bar, indicating that the issue is a mechanical one, which is related to the HX water loop. Therefore, my diagnosis leads me to believe that there is an issue with one or both of the solenoids which have exclusive control of water flow within this loop. Of note, the machine is 9 years old and running original solenoids. Additionally, of note, the machine had recently been drained and packaged dry for over a week during a cross country move before issue presented. Therefore, the issue is presumed to be related to a clogged, seized, dried, or otherwise faulty seal or piston movement within one or both of the solenoids. Given the age of the machine, my plan is simply to replace both solenoids with new units at this time. Unfortunately, neither part is indicated on the parts diagram available on your site (or anywhere that I can find). One solenoid is easily accessible and resides parallel to the steam boiler. The other is located deeper within the machine and sits on the main water distribution block. There is only one solenoid available on your site as referenced to the Vesuvius machine. The photo of it looks like the solenoid on the distribution block. In an effort to minimize downtime, I would like to replace both at the same time and once parts are in hand. Please advise, thank you!

Manufacturers will change parts, and we need to base the solenoid valve replacement based on the label within the machine. But, before taking it apart, we suggest descaling the machine as it may be a particle or particles holding the valve partially open. When solenoid valves fail, they usually do not open at all. When a particle holds a solenoid valve open, then the water pressure is relieved to a lower bar pressure.

Please utilize our self service parts portal for instructions and procedures. We are currently out of stock on the heating element for the steam and coffee boilers. We hope to have them in within one month (best case scenario at time of this writing).
Pump water intake issue. The machine was in storage for a while. Now it does not take in water to the boilers. I hear the motor humming but it times out. When I direct plumbed it the water filled the reservoir but did not continue to the boilers. I was looking for a way to jump start the pump but could not see it. Do you have suggestions?

Sorry, this is the beyond the scope of our free services on Q&A as there can be a multitude of issues from electrical, to valves, and the pump. We suggest having a local professional evaluate the issues.
Turned on my Vesuvius this morning and the temperature really is staggeringly unstable. Mostly to high and even reaching over temp alarm screen. It was 203-235 so quickly I'm sure it's wrong. I'm guessing back T/C. If you concur, could you please tell me price and delivery time/cost? If you disagree, what are your alternate thoughts?

Check the bleeder valve to make sure the steam boiler is releasing vacuum pressure on the steam boiler. We suggest cleaning the inside portion of the sensor (both boilers) with a brass or stainless wire brush. Be careful to not twist the wires when removing or installing the sensor.
