Overview
Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine
Ponte Vecchio is an Italian company that has been producing lever home espresso machines since 1999. It was founded by a number of entrepreneurs with over 20 years of experience in the industry of mechanical components for small household appliances. The new Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group V2 has an improvement with the internal steam pipe in the boiler having an extra welding to hold it in place. In older models, this pipe would sometimes break off.

Features
Manual Lever Operation
- Spring piston-operated grouphead: Lever starts in the upward position, the user pulls down against spring until coffee fills the bottom of a demitasse cup, then the lever is slowly released and the spring in the piston pushes the lever to pump the water through the coffee grinds. If making double, it is important to pull the lever down a second time at the halfway point and released.
- Stainless steel / brass piston.
- Grouphead (as well as portafilters) are made from a chrome-plated brass casting: unit preheated by forced circulation of hot water from boiler, always ready for use at optimum operating temperature.
Single Boiler System
- Gauge measures steam boiler pressure (0 – 2.5 bar) located on the right.
- Visual control of water level located underneath the gauge. Keep an eye on this control when filling the boiler.
- Indicator lights on the left side of machine. The upper left light is the heating light. It is on when the machine is heating up; off when the machine is ready to use. The lower left light is the water light. It is on when the water in the boiler is too low; off when the water in the boiler is at optimal level.
Steam / Hot Water Wand
- Fixed-position 3-hole steam wand located on the left and fixed-position hot water wand located on the right. Both are activated by rotational knobs on the left and right side of machine. Turn counter-clockwise to activate; clockwise to deactivate.
Accessories Included
- Dual spout portafilter, non-E.S.E. pod filter basket, 1-cup filter basket, 2-cup filter basket, solid coffee tamper, metal scoop, plastic funnel, instruction manual.
Removable drip tray & cup warming tray.

I purchased a Ponte Vecchio Lusso from 1st line back in 2016 and loved the machine. But after a recent move, the machine's pressurestat and one of the steamers (on pressurestat side) aren't working. The pressure reads 0 bar even after the machine reaches temperature. The steamer on the left side works perfectly with good steam pressure, but the right side steamer only pushes out hot water in a stream. The center espresso group also pushes out hot water without enough pressure to correctly pull a shot. Any ideas as what parts I need to fix/replace?

I have a Ponte Vecchio 1-group espresso machine, and it recently started leaking at one of the connections between the grouphead & boiler. I've loosed & re-tightened the bolts that attach them, but it still leaks. There is no seal between these connections, and there is no signs of corrosion or build-up at the connections, so I'm not sure why this would suddenly start happening. Have you heard of this happening, or have any ideas for a solution? I see you are out of stock of replacement groupheads, so trying to replace that is not an option. Thanks

Please unplug the machine from the electrical outlet. Remove the top cover, and then look for the safety thermostat on the left side of the internal boiler. You may need to remove the plastic internal cover by loosening the bolt near the back of the front wall. Find the thermostat and push in the red button. If you feel a clock, this is the reset and it means the machine was run without water in the boiler. If it does not clock, it means damage occurred from an electrical surge to the heating element, the brain unit, or the pressurstat, or tot he safety thermostat.

Sorry, the demand for 220 volt machines is very low, and we wish not to import a 220 volt model as then we are forced to stock parts for the 220 volt version for one machine sold.
You may be able to purchase a 20 volt model from an international vendor, but please keep in mind that parts for the 220 volt may take an international vendor a long time to get parts to you.
I own this machine, and have some questions related to maintenance. I got it second-hand, and it makes great espresso.
1. This is about the frothing wand. I am careful to put only the very tip into the milk. But it seems impossible to clean the tip completely, even with a wet towel. Do you have recommendations for keeping it clean? And for cleaning it after the dried-on milk has cooled down? (The instructions say not to use lemon juice... perhaps because it can tarnish the chrome. What about white vinegar?)
2. What do you recommend for boiler maintenance (de-scaling, etc.)? What should I do, and how often? I do not want to use any kind of chemical product. I've heard that citric acid is OK... rather dilute, I imagine?
3. What other kind of regular maintenance is required (seals, oil, etc.)?
Thanks!

In bad cases, a milk cleaners should be used.
Instead of descaling, soft water should be used. You can make water soft with an Oscar150 osmotic pack.
Use the parts diagram under the parts section of the top PARTS link on our web site. The three seals on the piston should be changed every 6-24 months depending upon usage. A special tool is needed.
In addition, the grouphead gasket and dispersion screen in the grouphead should be changed every 6-12 months depending upon usage.
Notes
- Due to many issues of this machine being damaged in transit we add extra packing inside the machine that customers will have to remove.
- This machine cannot be backflushed.
- There is no spring to hold the basket into the portafilter.
- The pod filter baskets use special pods that are not E.S.E.
General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: Unfortunately this type of espresso machine cannot be backflushed because there is no solenoid valve to relieve built-up pressure in the grouphead. A quick way to clean the grouphead is to lock in your portafilter with no coffee and pull the lever down a few times. The long way is removing the screen, however, this runs the risk of damage.
