In October 2011, 1st-line met with ECM Manufacture as we were seeking a replacement line for Rocket espresso machines. Over the previous 2 years, 1st-line voiced concerns to Rocket with respect to their build quality, mainly their frame design, which was inadequate for this level of espresso machine. Although they mentioned no other dealers worldwide had the issues we experienced, we had asked several times to improve the frame on our behalf. They repeatedly and graciously declined until we decided to discontinue the Rocket line in January, 2012.

After we carefully evaluated the ECM Manufacture line, we were please to see that the frame was almost double in thickness when compared to Rocket espresso machines. In fact, we learned that ECM Manufacture had actually produced some machines for the former ECM in Italy. One of the family members of the former ECM now owns a partnership stake in Rocket.

We also learned that ECM Manufacture is a team of specialists who combine years of experience with outstanding German competence in the construction of espresso machines. Their highly qualified and experienced staff remains the innovative force that ECM manufacture has become known for. Their machines are produced by their own manufacturing facility in Milan and marketed selectively worldwide through ECM Manufacture-trained specialist dealers, of which 1st-line is now a part of their team in the USA.

On a personal level, Wolfgang Hauck, the company's founder and head of ECM Manufacture GmbH, has been active in the espresso business for more than 25 years and was highly influential in the institution of Italian espresso culture in Germany.

Before marketing his own products, Hauck was, for many years, the exclusive importer of Italian espresso machines, such as Gaggia, Cimbali, Pavoni, Quick and Vibiemme. In recent years, Hauck has been joined in the management by his son, Michael Hauck, who adds his own excellent technical expertise and aptitude for design to the company bringing in new ideas into production and development. In fact, we have been working with Michael on future models.

We have also named our models as ECM Germany so as to avoid any confusion with the former Italian ECM company. We also apologize that conponents from this manufacturer will not fit the espresso machines from the former Italian ECM company.
