Overview
Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine
Ponte Vecchio is an Italian company that has been producing lever home espresso machines since 1999. It was founded by a number of entrepreneurs with over 20 years of experience in the industry of mechanical components for small household appliances. The new Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group V2 has an improvement with the internal steam pipe in the boiler having an extra welding to hold it in place. In older models, this pipe would sometimes break off.

Features
Manual Lever Operation
- Spring piston-operated grouphead: Lever starts in the upward position, the user pulls down against spring until coffee fills the bottom of a demitasse cup, then the lever is slowly released and the spring in the piston pushes the lever to pump the water through the coffee grinds. If making double, it is important to pull the lever down a second time at the halfway point and released.
- Stainless steel / brass piston.
- Grouphead (as well as portafilters) are made from a chrome-plated brass casting: unit preheated by forced circulation of hot water from boiler, always ready for use at optimum operating temperature.
Single Boiler System
- Gauge measures steam boiler pressure (0 – 2.5 bar) located on the right.
- Visual control of water level located underneath the gauge. Keep an eye on this control when filling the boiler.
- Indicator lights on the left side of machine. The upper left light is the heating light. It is on when the machine is heating up; off when the machine is ready to use. The lower left light is the water light. It is on when the water in the boiler is too low; off when the water in the boiler is at optimal level.
Steam / Hot Water Wand
- Fixed-position 3-hole steam wand located on the left and fixed-position hot water wand located on the right. Both are activated by rotational knobs on the left and right side of machine. Turn counter-clockwise to activate; clockwise to deactivate.
Accessories Included
- Dual spout portafilter, non-E.S.E. pod filter basket, 1-cup filter basket, 2-cup filter basket, solid coffee tamper, metal scoop, plastic funnel, instruction manual.
Removable drip tray & cup warming tray.

We are very sorry, we do not have any in stock at this time.
My wife ordered a Ponte Vecchio Lusso 2 Group Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine [Order #48407] (December 7, 2019) and we are having trouble with the machine turning on. The lower light will turn on and not send power to the boiler. Can you please advise me on how to get this fixed?

Please unplug the machine from the electrical outlet. Remove the top cover, and then look for the safety thermostat on the left side of the internal boiler. You may need to remove the plastic internal cover by loosening the bolt near the back of the front wall. Find the thermostat and push in the red button. If you feel a clock, this is the reset and it means the machine was run without water in the boiler. If it does not clock, it means damage occurred from an electrical surge to the heating element, the brain unit, or the pressurstat, or tot he safety thermostat.
I've bought parts from you before for my Ponte Vecchio Lusso.
I'm doing another rebuild and am looking for a replacement for the Lusso "Brain" -- the electronic component -- I don't see this in your parts diagrams for the Lusso. Same question for the wiring kit that goes with the Lusso. I can see these parts on this site: (link we removed as we do not allow links to competing web sites)
Does 1st line carry these parts in addition to the full inventory of parts, gaskets, and components?

We carry select parts to maintain the espresso machine. However, we do not carry all the parts, to perform a complete rebuild. For instance, we do not carry the wiring harness as we would just replace with wiring that we can purchase locally.
All available parts are on our web site. Some brain units we may not sell unless the machine is in for repair. One reason is that some situations occur where previous customers return their old defective parts for a refund or damage the part by miswiring on install. When the incidence rate increases, we only sell the parts when we install.
In addition, there is more than one version of brain units.
I think I got my Lusso in Nov. 2012. During the winter, and because the Lusso sits by a cold wall, the grouphead blow hole will squirt a few times during warm up. Then I make an espresso and it works as usual. Could this be:
1) from the seals being extra cold or
2) age, and the seals need replacing.
If it is the latter, it is better to have you guys replace the seals or just replace the whole assembly.

Considering age, it is best to replace the seals. A special tool is needed, and it can be purchased or rented. Please go to the top of our web site, look for the support tab, then diagrams, and then search for the parts needed for your machine. The renatal tool can also be found.
Or, on top, click on repair service for instructions on procedure for sending the machine in for repair.
Pressure gauge: When the machine is cold, the pressure gauge does not read zero. It reads as shown in this picture. Is there a way to manually reset it to zero when cold?Water leakage: Around 15 minutes after the machine has reached the correct temperature and pressure (and the upper light goes off) cold water starts leaking from under the machine, as seen in the picture. It's not extremely fast -- perhaps a cup in 5-10 minutes -- but it's somewhat worrisome. Is there something I can check before sending it in for servicing? For around 15 seconds after I turn on the machine (from cold) there is a light clicking noise from inside the machine.

The gauge would probably need to be replaced. The internals need to be checked for leaks. The machine should never be operated until all leaks are rectified. Either the brain unit (not normal) or pressurstat (normal after warm up) is clicking.
I have tried cleaning the tube and compression fitting and tried to silver solder the fitting but the fitting deteriorated. I will need to look into a replacement boiler and need to know availability and cost. I like this machine and hope that the cost isn’t overly high in cost.

I’m having issues with the lower tube leaking and have tightened it up in the past but am unable to stop it now. I see that it is a compression type fitting that should seal upon compression. I love this machine but I’m hoping to see if a new slip on compression would be available or if I have to look at replacing the boiler and the unit is less than two years old. I have thought about using a silver solder to build up and see if that will work.

This usually happens with limescale or oxidation. It is best to loosen and clean with a wire brush and test. If it still leaks, the compression fitting can be removed and then silver soldered. Otherwise, the entire boiler will need to be replaced. We have seen boilers on various machine with corrosion from limescale and oxidation in as little as 2 weeks of ownership in those really bad cases.

Sorry, the demand for 220 volt machines is very low, and we wish not to import a 220 volt model as then we are forced to stock parts for the 220 volt version for one machine sold.
You may be able to purchase a 20 volt model from an international vendor, but please keep in mind that parts for the 220 volt may take an international vendor a long time to get parts to you.
I own this machine, and have some questions related to maintenance. I got it second-hand, and it makes great espresso.
1. This is about the frothing wand. I am careful to put only the very tip into the milk. But it seems impossible to clean the tip completely, even with a wet towel. Do you have recommendations for keeping it clean? And for cleaning it after the dried-on milk has cooled down? (The instructions say not to use lemon juice... perhaps because it can tarnish the chrome. What about white vinegar?)
2. What do you recommend for boiler maintenance (de-scaling, etc.)? What should I do, and how often? I do not want to use any kind of chemical product. I've heard that citric acid is OK... rather dilute, I imagine?
3. What other kind of regular maintenance is required (seals, oil, etc.)?
Thanks!

In bad cases, a milk cleaners should be used.
Instead of descaling, soft water should be used. You can make water soft with an Oscar150 osmotic pack.
Use the parts diagram under the parts section of the top PARTS link on our web site. The three seals on the piston should be changed every 6-24 months depending upon usage. A special tool is needed.
In addition, the grouphead gasket and dispersion screen in the grouphead should be changed every 6-12 months depending upon usage.
Notes
- Due to many issues of this machine being damaged in transit we add extra packing inside the machine that customers will have to remove.
- This machine cannot be backflushed.
- There is no spring to hold the basket into the portafilter.
- The pod filter baskets use special pods that are not E.S.E.
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: Unfortunately this type of espresso machine cannot be backflushed because there is no solenoid valve to relieve built-up pressure in the grouphead. A quick way to clean the grouphead is to lock in your portafilter with no coffee and pull the lever down a few times. The long way is removing the screen, however, this runs the risk of damage.
