Bezzera BZ07 DE Electronic Espresso Machine

This beautiful and compact stainless steel espresso machine can be a fine addition to any home! There are many benefits and features that make this machine a solid performer.

This version of the BZ07 has electronic dosing controls. There are individual buttons for single/double shots & 1-cup/2-cup shots. There is also a semi-automatic dosing button similar to the PM version.

The BZ07’s grouphead houses two electric heating elements and a thermostat to monitor temperature at the grouphead. The internal pressurestat (regulator) monitors the boiler pressure/temperature.

Overpressure valve (9 bar OPV) adjustable to change exiting overpressure created by the pump.
Mater-style pressurestat adjustable for changing boiler pressure.
Circuitry for the automatic refilling of the internal boiler from the water reservoir.
Three (3) way solenoid valve for quick removal of portafilter after espresso extraction.
Accessories: dual spout portafilter, 2-cup filter basket, 1-cup filter basket, plastic tamper, grouphead cleaning brush, and blind filter basket.

Notes

“White” body panel: Some machines come with a thin white coating that can easily be peeled off.
Differences between BZ02 and BZ07 models:
- The BZ02 has plastic side panels with a stainless steel rear, and the BZ07 as stainless steel wraparound body.
- The BZ07 is a narrower machine, and due to this, the water wand and steam wand are very close to each other.
- The steam wand and hot water wand are on a bi-directional, horizontal axis for rotation while the same on the BZ07 is multi-directional.
- The grouphead on the BZ02 is welded to the boiler and the heat transfers passively while the BZ07 has a heating element with a thermostat to control temperature.
- The steam and hot water wands are controlled by a rotational knob on the BZ02 and a spring-loaded handle on the BZ07.
Grouphead: The brew group size of this machine is 58 mm. It will not fit standard E61 portafilters or other E61 parts.
Direct connect option: We only sell the tank models at this time. There currently is no retro fit to turn it into direct connect.
Steam tips: We have confirmed the GoldPro2Hole steam tip does not fit into this machine. We don’t have any alternative steam tips at this time.

General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:

Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.

Bought the BZ07 back in 2012, but for various reasons, I was able to unpack it and hook it up only now. So it's been sitting in the box since 2012, I've not used it or done anything to it. Today, I took out the tank, filled it with distilled water, replaced the tank, reinserted the tubes, turned on the machine. It hummed for a few seconds, then stopped. Waited for a half-hour during which time, the portafilter got hot, but pressure and water level remained the same. Did I do something wrong - again, the machine, though purchased in 2012, was never taken out of the box and used - or is something wrong with the machine. How do I get the machine to work?

Answered by the admin Yes, all espresso machines are brand new, unless when otherwise stated. We do open every machine box to inspect for any damage that may have occurred in transport to us or in our warehouse. We also insert extra packaing material for safer transport.

Problem began with no pressure reading on the circular gauge. This was a transient problem, after cycling power pressure would return to the 9-10 bar range. This happened maybe 2-3 times over the last few weeks. Near the end of a descaling this past weekend the pressure went to zero and never came back. No water available from the steam wand or the hot water dispenser. The unit powers on (stays quiet, no usual BUZZZ upon warmup) and water will dispense through the grouphead but is lukewarm. Thank you so very much for any help with this issue. Ed

Considering the machine was purchased in 2012, it really should be looked at by a professional as it seems there may be multiple issues with the pump and/or gauage AND the heating element/safety thermostat/pressurstat. We are sorry that the multiple issues is outside the scope of on a machine past its warranty expiration date.

You can locate a local repair facility and ask them if they are willing to evaluate the machine or send it in to us.

Hello, I purchased a BZ07 last year (Order ID #229102). I recently noticed that the color of the water tubes have changed due to build up of grime inside the tubes. I can see little particle specs inside them. What is the recommended way to clean these tubes? I suspect there are more tubes inside the machine that I cant see with the same issue. Also, should I be worried that the boiler itself may have build up of grime inside as well? Thank you, Sheldon

It can be either minerals from the water or mold. First run a descaler through the machine and rinse.

After, remove the vinyl hoses to be soaked in chlorine overnight. Rinse and put back on machine.
