Features
Torre Smart PID (TSP)
Extraction Anti-overheating
HX espresso machines tend to overheat if left idle for five or more minutes after initial warm up has completed. Torre created the TSP to automatically lower the temperature after a certain amount of time since the last extraction, ensuring that the first shot after a long pause is within the desired temperature range. This reduces the need for lengthy cooling flushes and helps maintain consistent temperature control.
Eco Mode
- Automatically puts the machine into energy saving mode when not in use.
- Adjustable timeout from 30 to 95 minutes
Heat Exchange System
- The Alfredo has a heat exchange design whereby there is a therm o-siphon loop – a pipe in the boiler has water that is flash heated from the water/steam in the steam boiler. Read more…
- With the Torre system, it is not necessary to do an extra flush to normalize the group temperature, as it remains stable.
- With Torre’s system, the Alfredo espresso machine never goes into over heat even after 10 extractions! Other similar machines start to overheat after 2 extractions. With their TSP system, after 10 back-to-back continuous extractions without any breaks, the temperature begins to slowly drop below average at the grouphead. So, the machine is great for very low volume commercial use, superb for small offices, and entertaining in homes. It is one of the best machines for those working from home and need to leave the machine on all day! For optimal performance, a simple 1-2 seconds flush maximum, just to clean the shower on all machines, is a basic rule for a good espresso.
E61 Grouphead
- ERGOLIFT – Torre Exclusive grouphead lever to get your hands away from the close water wand on the right hand side as well as create an easier work flow
Tank/Reservoir System
The tank has an open top which makes it easier to fill and clean.
Dual Gauge
- Left side measures pump pressure when pulling a shot. This is the result of the grind fineness, amount of ground espresso coffee in the basket AND the tamping pressure.
- Right side measures steaming pressure. Optimal range is between 0.8 and 1.2 bar.
Steam / Hot Water Wands and Valves
- Joystick valves for ease of use
- Wood accent knobs
- Rubber grips on wands for extra protection
- Cool touching wands
Vibration Pump
- Affordable: Pumps will degrade in performance over time. Replacing a vibration pump will cost less than a rotary vane pump.
- Effective: 41 watts, rated up to 15 bar. You only need 9 bar to extract perfect espresso, and wattage has no correlation to longevity.
Extraction/Shot timer
- Convenient located for your viewing during an espresso extraction
Steam Boost
- By quickly pressing the action button, the machine goes into ”Steam boost mode” for a maximum of 120 seconds, the machine’s steam boiler goes to the maximum pressure of 2.5 bar to have a truly impressive steam performance for this category of HX machines. By quickly pressing the button before the 2 minutes are up, you manually exit the Steam Boost mode.
- Usually, after a steam boost cycle, the machine is immediately ready at the right temperature, because the cycle lasts a maximum of 2 minutes, which is not enough to upset the thermal balance of the E61 group
- Please note that if you extract 3-4 espresso shots, and between each extraction you press the Steam Boost, the water in the grouphead of the Alfredo will overheat. Thus, a cooling flush will be required. Therefore, pull the 3-4 extractions in sequence, and then follow up with one steaming session to create the frothed/steam milk for the multiple milk-added espresso-based beverages.
4 Stage Programmable Temperature Settings
- Torre Espresso has established 4 average temperature levels which correspond to the following water temperatures at the outlet of the shower with a heated filter holder: LOW 90°C MID 92°C HIGH 94°C HOT 96°C.
- Use lower settings for darker roasts, and higher settings for lighter roasts.
Pre-Infusion Programming
- Helps saturate you coffee puck for an even flow and extract maximum flavor.
- Programmable pre-infusion from 0.5 to 5 seconds.

General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

I'm at the 60 day point to backflush the Alfredo. I have the Cafiza product I previously used on my last machine. Do I follow the Cafiza commercial flush Instructions (5x for 10 seconds flush with Cafiza followed by 5x for 10 seconds clear water flush) or reduce duration or frequency? With my prior machine I reduced the duration to 5 seconds.

This can change dependent upon on how often or the amount of oil on the beans. 5x for 10 seconds is fine on the Alfredo.
Is pressure correct? Coffee boiler is at ~8.5 bars and the steam boiler is at ~1.3 bars. Thank you!

The spout as you submitted as a question will drip upon warm to drain the bleeder valve. It will also drip sometimes from the OPV (overpressure valve) when the grind in the basket is too fine.

If you do not use the machine from start up, then yes, ECO mode will engage from start up. Hence, if you have it set up for 30 minutes, and you wait 60 minutes to use the machine, it will go into ECO mode. We have confirmed this on the machine in our showroom.

The economy mode, also known as sleep mode, or standby mode reduces power consumption down to 1% - enough power to know when you lift the lever, while in economy mode, hold it up for a few seconds, then bring fully down to restart the machine from economy mode,
or
Firmly press and let go of the steam boost button and the the machine will restart to reheating.
In either case, you "may" see the TSP display flash through the menu items.
First, do you have an opinion on the use of a separate puck screen to reduce the flow of grounds back up into the grouphead screen? Second, does the puck screen you offer fit the Torre Alfredo?

At this point in time, we are unsure of the benefit versus work flow plus one more thing to clean between extractions.
Yes, the puck screen/diffuser we sell does fit the larger 2 cup basket.

Good question. We usually leave it on while steaming. If steaming is done before it turns off, then we turn the steam boost off. If steaming more than one pitcher, we will allow it to continue. If steaming small amounts of milk, we will not even turn on steam boost.
There is a level line on the 18-20G filter basket. First question, does this line indicate the the fill line for the grounds BEFORE or AFTER tamping? Second question: or does this line correspond to @ 18-20G before tamping?

The line pertains to the level of ground coffee AFTER tamping.
When using the Steam Boost mode, should I let it run for a short period of time (e.g., 20-30s) and then shut it off before steaming or leave it on while steaming? I have noticed that Steam Boost greatly increases the pressure. But when I have left it on while steaming, it is harder to control.

Per our testing small volumes, steam boost was not needed. For larger volumes, it "may' be needed. We suggest trying both ways and see which works for your volume and type of milk.

It's the time that passes since the machine was last used. For example, after extracting an espresso, if the machine is not used for n° minutes, it goes into ECO mode. The time for ECO mode is how long the machine waits before going into ECO mode.

Q Do I need to extract the 4 oz. before each shot? answer nowAsked by Phil on December 23, 2024 4:23 pmAnswered by the admin
No. Only a maximum of 2-3 seconds flush before each extraction.
I let my Alfredo warm up for at least 20m. Just before I make an espresso, I release (per your guidance ) 4 oz. of water and then do a short flush. Typically the right hand dial ascends to around 1 -1.1 and I then extract the espresso. At this point, the machine has been on for 30+ minutes. If I make a second espresso (also doing a flush), should I always wait for the level to reach the 1-1.1 value or is the pressure/water temp at an appropriate level to continue and not wait?

The dial movements are due to the TSP control algorithm which adapts to avoid overheating, especially after the machine has been inactive between one espresso extraction and another, so there is no need to look at the dial to decide when is the right time to extract an espresso.
The system is set to get the right temperature during each delivery, which (as per WBC protocol) provides a maximum flush of 2 seconds, we can tolerate even 3sec. Since the Torre Alfredo is not at a competition, a 4 oz flush is really too much and going to take away temperature balance.
Maybe 4oz is necessary in other brands with heat exchangers (HX) to avoid overheat, but the Torre models with TSP have the algorithm that prevents it automatically.
