Overview
Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine
Ponte Vecchio is an Italian company that has been producing lever home espresso machines since 1999. It was founded by a number of entrepreneurs with over 20 years of experience in the industry of mechanical components for small household appliances. The new Ponte Vecchio Lusso 1 Group V2 has an improvement with the internal steam pipe in the boiler having an extra welding to hold it in place. In older models, this pipe would sometimes break off.

Features
Manual Lever Operation
- Spring piston-operated grouphead: Lever starts in the upward position, the user pulls down against spring until coffee fills the bottom of a demitasse cup, then the lever is slowly released and the spring in the piston pushes the lever to pump the water through the coffee grinds. If making double, it is important to pull the lever down a second time at the halfway point and released.
- Stainless steel / brass piston.
- Grouphead (as well as portafilters) are made from a chrome-plated brass casting: unit preheated by forced circulation of hot water from boiler, always ready for use at optimum operating temperature.
Single Boiler System
- Gauge measures steam boiler pressure (0 – 2.5 bar) located on the right.
- Visual control of water level located underneath the gauge. Keep an eye on this control when filling the boiler.
- Indicator lights on the left side of machine. The upper left light is the heating light. It is on when the machine is heating up; off when the machine is ready to use. The lower left light is the water light. It is on when the water in the boiler is too low; off when the water in the boiler is at optimal level.
Steam / Hot Water Wand
- Fixed-position 3-hole steam wand located on the left and fixed-position hot water wand located on the right. Both are activated by rotational knobs on the left and right side of machine. Turn counter-clockwise to activate; clockwise to deactivate.
Accessories Included
- Dual spout portafilter, non-E.S.E. pod filter basket, 1-cup filter basket, 2-cup filter basket, solid coffee tamper, metal scoop, plastic funnel, instruction manual.
Removable drip tray & cup warming tray.

Is this the older version where there was an issue with an internal pipe breaking inside the boiler? I have read reports that if this pipe breaks, it prevents the hot water tap from working and is not easy to repair. I believe that the issue has been corrected in the latest version by adding an extra weld. Thank you.

This issue usually 'creep-ed' up in shipping. The entire boiler needed to be replaced in these cases.
Hello I just talked to customer support and they instructed me to send a request here. I am looking for the R.D. Electronica RDA 91543 on my machine. The model is LUSSO and the No. is 96-12-17. Any help/info would be appreciated. TKS

Sorry, we do not have this part and we are not expecting any in soon. Please contact the manufacturer directly.
Notes
- Due to many issues of this machine being damaged in transit we add extra packing inside the machine that customers will have to remove.
- This machine cannot be backflushed.
- There is no spring to hold the basket into the portafilter.
- The pod filter baskets use special pods that are not E.S.E.
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: Unfortunately this type of espresso machine cannot be backflushed because there is no solenoid valve to relieve built-up pressure in the grouphead. A quick way to clean the grouphead is to lock in your portafilter with no coffee and pull the lever down a few times. The long way is removing the screen, however, this runs the risk of damage.
