Rancilio Rocky Doser V3 Espresso Coffee Grinder
Best precision flat burr grinder for home use and for those who demand the best. The Rancilio Rocky Doser has been a long time “gold” standard for espresso coffee grinders. This pairs nicely well with the Rancilio Silvia espresso machine! These grinders encompass the heavy motor that is found on the Rancilio MD40. The next step up from a Rancilio Rocky is therefore a commercial grade coffee grinder.
Features:
Grinding Adjustment
Stepped adjustments give you a wide range of grinding from fine to coarse. Easier to go back and forth between different grind settings.
Quiet operation
Generally not higher than 70dB(A). Rubber vibration-dampening feet help keep the grinder steady and reduce noise.
Tinted bean hopper & doser
The blue tint helps to avoid pre-mature deterioration of beans from light sources (such as sunlight).
Doser
All coffee grinds into this chamber and is then dosed out as you need. There is an opening that allows you to pour in any extra unused coffee grinds. This helps reduce coffee waste.
Portafilter Fork
For easy espresso machine filter handle placement & dosing. Sits very low to the base. Some portafilter designs can even rest on your counter for “hands-free” operation.
Instruction manual
Written in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian.

I developed a taste for espresso at restaurants but only found great espresso while in Amsterdam a few years ago. Finally, a new cafe opened near work which had great espresso too. Problem was, when home 3 days a week, 32 miles away, it was an espresso desert. Since I couldn’t stay away from the cafe on work days I became more and more addicted but at home became more and more frustrated. So I took the plunge: I researched equipment and after attempting to work with a couple of the other ‘popular’ sources, settled on 1st-Line due to: 1) best price considering all the extras included; 2) friendly help and advice from Jim by phone and e-mail.
After receiving Rocky & Silvia my wife and I went through some trying times making kitchen counter space for the pair in a workable location. It took serious experimenting, rearranging, rewiring and mentally readjusting before they found their true home. They’re finally settled in and look perfect together side-by-side in stainless magnificence.
I now make the best espresso I’ve ever had in my life (over half a century and we’ll leave it at that). Jim warned me last August when ordering: “”you’ll never like coffee shop espresso again.”” Well, he was pretty much right.
Rocky is like a rock. He doesn’t budge from his appointed counter top spot when you flip on the switch and the heavy motor and blade torque up to speed. I grind one dose at a time on 4 or 5, just above blades touching, to a fine, uniform powder. I’ve modified as described on the web by removing the dosing plate and adding tape to all 6 paddle arms to get a clean sweep after a few clicks of the dosing handle. While disassembled for cleaning I marveled at the quality of the blades and other solid parts. This is one serious grinder. Continued at Silvia Review:

Bought it to replace a Solis Mastero. Got the model with the doser. Grinds fine and fast. Two minor things the ground coffee shoot doesn’t dump all the coffee. A little noisy after the grind letting know the power is still. Another than that a definate upgrade.
