I purchased the original strega from you a few yeras ago. Yesterday I converted it back to TOP mode according to the original instructions (disconnected the water line and plugged it, reopened the bottom for inserting the water reservois, and removed the electrical contact. However, after heating normally and reaching pressure (both lights on), once I emptied the boiler the pump would come on but no water would go into the boiler (water level in teh reservoir dod not diminish), and the yellow light went off. Opened it and see nothing wrong. Any advice? APparently the new model has a switch in the front, but mine does not. Thanks

It is probably coincidental that the pump failed or the boiler refill solenoid pump failed. Or, the water is too pure and the sensors in the reservoir can not sense the water.
I purchased my Strega from you several years ago. I have scoured your site for info with no luck. My question is: how do you recommend descaling the boiler tank? There is no mention of this in the on-line manuals. My unit is plumbed directly to the water supply. How often should I descale? What should I use? Do I need to disconnect from water supply and convert back to the tank to do this? Do you have instructions available or can you point me to them? FYI, our water has naturally low mineral content and the machine is only used about 4-5 days a week for one to two cappuccinos. there are no current issues, except that the hot water wand is plugged (never used). Can I remove that to clean and service with the unit plumbed in? Thanks

Sorry, there are no instructions for descaling this model. We suggest you place the machine in tank mode and run descale through the water wand and grouphead like a heat exchanger.
Recently the pump doesn't always switch on when I pull the lever down. I sometimes hear faint sound as if motor is trying to start but there is not enough power. Other times I hear nothing. I also see a brief spark from the relay / switch / activation mechanism (white part into which two wires are connected). I opened the shroud that covers top of cylinder to check if the bearing is not pushing down the switch, but that seems to be fine. I am guessing part #5963110.01 (as listed in table 5 at https://www.1st-line.com/buy/bezzera-strega-switchable-v2-espresso-machine/) is faulty? If you think the relay is the problem, can I order it from you? Let me know and I will order / call you

Each related part, such as the microswitch, wiring, etc needs to be checked for a fault with a multimeter. It could be the pump, a capacitor, and/or brain unit, as well. Guessing on part is not a good idea because we do not take back parts as previous customers would send their defective parts for a refund and some parts, like a brain unit can not be checked unless installed into a machine here.
We suggest hiring a local qualified professional to evaluate the problem part.
What's the value of the pump infusing water into the group head? Why is this better than simply allowing the boiler pressure to push the water in?

That value is based on your coffee grind fineness. It is a different design to have the pump. Bezzera researched this and it is their opinion that it makes a superior quality in the cup.

My Bezzera Strega espresso machine purchased from you recently had a mechanical problem and was hoping you can help. A few seconds after startup it tries to fill water from the reservoir into the boiler. However, instead of the normal pump sound there's a quite hum. The sound remains until I shut off the machine. The pump for group head works fine. When the problem doesn't occur the machine works fine. Any ideas on the cause and fix?

The steam wand lever is falling out of the ring nut surrounding it after about 2 years of use. Does this ring nut need to be replaced? There are metal shavings inside the ring nut when I pull it out and I wonder if it's from the ring nut wearing down? It seems that the opening on the ring nut is now too big to contain the lever. I believe from your diagram that this ring nut is part # 5222823CM RING NUT 3/8”G H17. I do not see this part on your website. Does this seem to be the part I need? If so, are you able to get it?

I bought this machine from you 3 years ago. it suddenly trips the breaker after a few minutes of being turned on. Upon inspection, I think there is a sudden leak apperaing, I guess when the water reaches a certain pressure/temperature, that seems to come from the bottom of the boiler, drips on the box below containing various wires, then it trips. Any suggestions about repairs, is it even worth if it is the boiler?

The leak will need to be searched for inside the machine. Usually, it is not the boiler. If a fitting, it sometimes can be removed, cleaned and reassembled.
I have a Strega and when I pull the lever down I can hear the pump humming but not vibrating to the preinfusion is weak. Also, I hear the humming like it’s trying to pump when I turn it on but doesn’t make the regular vibration sound. This have been happening more and more. Sometimes the pump makes there sound its suppose to other times it sounds like it’s trying to pump but just hums. Do I need to replace the vibration pump? Thanks. I was told by your office person who answers the phone to ask the question here to get an answer instead of just getting the answer directly.

For machines under warranty, phone support is included with the purchase of the machine. We suggest first running a descaler through the grouphead only and see if the issue improves. If not, a new vibration pump (check and confirm model of your pump before ordering on our web site as different versions could have been placed in the Strega) is recommended.
I bought this machine from you several years ago. The current problem is that the pressure occasionally goes beyond the set point. I routinely descale, which helps but does not completely solve the problem. Do I need a new part, or should a do something with this part to fix it? Jim helped me with this same problem on a tech call, but I can't remember what he told me to do. Thx.

Diagrams for the Bezzera Strega can be reviewed on our web site.
Most times, the overheat situation is created by a sticky pressurstat - caused by limescale build up from hard water or oxidation from too pure water. A descaling will not clean the pressurstat because the solution stops much further below in the boiler.
Hence, the pressurstat can be cleaned once removed. However, in most cases, it should be replaced after a machine desclaing. Part number 7433013 or 7433024 depending upon your model and version machine.
Other areas, with less probability, that can cause an overheat is a blocked pressurstat pipe, a faulty brain unit, or a faulty heating element that is sending power through ground.
