Features
Independently Controlled Boilers
Two separate PID’s control the .45 L coffee boiler and 1L water/steam boiler. You can even program through the touch display which boiler you’d prefer to heat up first!
E61 Grouphead
The E61 grouphead ensures consistent water stability. Hot water circulates from the boiler through the grouphead and back to keep the grouphead and your portafilter nice and hot. Lever next to the grouphead activates a microswitch which turns on the pump to draw water through the coffee grinds.
Multi-Directional Steam and Hot Water Wand
Allows for more flexibility. Joystick controls for steam and hot water wands give instant on/off operation as opposed to knobs that you must turn clockwise / counter-clockwise. Each has a rubber cover to prevent fingers from burning.
Wooden Elements
Less plastic is always a bonus in our eyes. The Matrix is designed with wooden handles on not only the portafilter but the joysticks and lever as well.
Three Way Solenoid Valve
Allows quick removal of portafilter after espresso extraction by relieving the pressure built up in the grouphead. The result is a dry puck of coffee you can easily knock out of the portafilter.
Rotary Vane Pump and Motor
Produces a quieter extraction vs a vibratory vane pump. Situated underneath tank/reservoir and adjustment can be made from underneath the espresso machine.
Very Large Water Tank
A 4 L water reservoir means fewer refills for higher volume use, low water levels are detected by an electronic sensor and are indicated on the touch display. Refilling occurs from the top of the machine by lifting up the lid on hinges.
Passive Cup Warmer
Able to hold up to six cappuccino cups and passively warm them to ensure the coffee remains hot.
Automatic Water Refill to Boiler
Automatic plus safety cutout to prevent machine damage.

Notes
- Since this is a new model, every Bezzera Matrix/Duo model gets inspected, bench tested, and calibrated with ‘water only’ prior to shipping. Upon arrival, please use the machine within 5 business days.
- Do not move or lift the machine from the top rails as damage may occur to the rails or body of the machine.
- The Bezzera DUO MN comes from Bezzera on a mini pallet, which is why we will ship this machine out to you, the customer, on a pallet. Additionally, it is less likely that your machine will arrive damaged with this shipping method.
- 15 AMP plug and cable are designed to be used with 15 AMP in a continuous way and they admit pick of current until around 20 AMP. During our tests, we recorded 17,76 AMP (as maximum current) only in the 3:20 minutes of the warm-up time (when both boiler heat up together).
- During the coffee brewing the service boiler heating element is disabled and when the machine is not used, thanks to the PID controls, only current impulses are given to the heating elements.
- Note from Bezzera dated 06/04/2024:
- Starting with all DUO and Matrix espresso machines produced by Bezzera after June 2024 will be manufactured with a 15 amp standard plug and electrical current between both steam and coffee boilers in 110 volt versions. In other words, 110 volt models can not have both boilers being powered at the same time (known as no priority).
- Note from Bezzera dated 03/25/2021:
- 20 AMP plug will continue to be used on Matrix and Duo 110 Volt versions because the safety standards do not allow the use of an undersized plug compared with the power consumption reported in the machine data label.
- We will add advice into the machine box where we explain to the final user that it is possible to use the machine with a 15 Amp plug adapter only setting a boiler priority.
- We would like to inform you that, according to our tests, the major difference in the machine performance, setting or not the boiler priority, is in the warm-up period.
- We faced no big performance differences in the coffee thermostability and water/steam services, in the regular machine use, giving priority to a coffee or steam boiler.
- WARM-UP TIME (no priority)
Coffee service: 3:20 min
Hot water / steam service: 6:45 min - WARM-UP TIME (coffee boiler/service boiler priority)
Coffee service: 7:10 min
Hot water / steam service: 10:10 min - TEST CONDITION:
Power supply: 110V
Frequency: 60 Hz
Room temperature: 22°C
Coffee boiler set point: 92°C
Service boiler set point: 125°C
General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

I purchased a Berazza Duo from 1st Line years ago and it’s been awesome. Really happy with my purchase. I recently started to see mineral particles when I use the hot water wand. Is there a way to descale this machine? Or does it have to be brought in for service? Thanks

If you have the option to drop it off for a commercial grade cleaning. Otherwise please follow our descaling instructions.
In addition, to keep the steam boiler clean, it is a good idea to remove 4 ounces of hot water at least once per week. And, to prevent damage to the steam boiler's heating element, NEVER remove more than 4 ounces of water at a time until you hear the pump shut off.
Water is leaking from the portafilter when I pull a shot so I believe changing the gasket that seals the portafilter will solve this problem. Can you tell me what the part number is for this gasket? My machine was purchased from 1st-line in April of 2021 - Bezzera Duo MN Dual Boiler Espresso Machine - V2, Double PID. Thank you!

Please understand for parts, we ask that customers go through the self-service parts portal. This part can change on future versions, and then those customers may look at this post and order the incorrect. This happened in early January 2025.
I have a Bezzera Duo MN Dual Boiler Espresso Machine - V2, Double PID, purchased in October of 2020 and am experiencing issues with the screen brightness and it's ghosting images. The screen is very dim and it appears other menus (not the screen you are on) are slightly visible at all times.

We are sorry to read this. The display will need to be replaced. There is a matrix of upgrades or motherboards and display. The following chart needs to be utilized to determine which display is required. Please note that if an error is made, we are unable to accept a return because it would require an installation of the return since some customers in the past would return defective parts (including other parts). If you are unsure, it is best to send in the machine for repair.
Correct. However, the position where the steam knob is supposed to lock in, it does not.

It sounds like an internal part of the valve is broken. It will need to be evaluated by a professional as this is not a simple diagnosis. If you want to check yourself, you would need to compare the internal parts to the valve that is working. Please unplug the machine from the electrical outlet and perform while the machine is cooled down and cold. Takes lots of pictures as you remove.
I recently purchased the MN and my steam knob is a bit loose, to the point where it often won't stay in it's locked on position and I have to hold it. Is there something I'm able to do to tighten that down?

There is only one position it locks. All others it does not lock.
Hi. I see you have listed a Bezzera 4-hole steam tip, but it doesn't list as compatible for my machine (Duo). Do you carry something like that? I'm thinking it could help tame/equalize the Duo's steam pressure, that with the stock 2-hole is more powerful and directional than my previous machine.

Sorry, there are still parts shortages in Europe, and when we get in parts, we get a bunch of customers who purchased their machines elsewhere to buy most of our stock on parts that can be difficult to acquire. If a MN model, then any E61 8mm gasket should suffice. If the DE, this is more challenging. As you can see, the DUO can be an MN or a DE version
Recently had excess pressure release steam through the top of the machine (pretty loudly) and did it a few days in a row. No impact to the machine's operation until today when the temperature reading on the steam boiler stays between 69 - 80 degrees and doesn't increase at all. No steam producing or water coming out of the hot water wand. I removed the bottom to see if I needed to reset the high limit switch and only found the temperature probe. Any thoughts on steps to take or if there are any recommend repair technicians in the DFW area would be much appreciated

Sorry for the delay. Please search the internet for repair facilities. Either the PID sensor is fouled up or the heating element has melted and is powering from ground. It can also be a faulty safety vale on the boiler as well. Lastly, the mother board may not be reading the correct signal. As you can see, there are a host of potential issues.
Hi, I would like to order a new E61 grouphead screen for my Bezzera Duo MN, but I only see a couple other brands available on your site. Is there one you'd recommend that would be compatible?

Sorry, the manufacturer does not provide any instructions for plumbing as every scenario and plumbing hookup can be different. We do have our own general requirements.
Hello - I recently purchased a Bezzera Duo MN from you guys. I am looking at the various aftermarket IMS filter baskets and shower screens in single and double range such as (https://www.wholelattelove.com/collections/ims/products/baristapro-15g-nanotech-precision-portafilter-basket) and wondering:
a) if they are even needed given the stock baskets and shower screen that come with the Bezzera
b) if they’d fit my Bezzera
There is almost negligible information on the Bezzera Duo on the internet and the manual. Where can I learn more about the quality of my filter basket and shower screen?

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information on the filter baskets and shower screens for many espresso machines.A Most accessories for that fit an e61 group head should work for this machine. I have the Bezzera Duo MN and currently have an IMS shower screen as well as VST and Barista Pro baskets. I primarily use a bottomless portafilter so I don't have to worry about height.

Sorry, it is not at this time.
Stainless steel boilers are nice, but they are not always as resilient to limescale as some would state. We have seen stainless steel boilers with lots of limescale.
We also have seen some stainless steel boilers with what we call a 'black water' that seems to develop with certain water types used in these boilers. This black water comes from 'rust' in the stainless steel.
Stainless steel is an alloy made up of iron and at least 10.5% chromium as well as lesser amounts of other elements such as carbon, silicon or manganese. It is the chromium that resists corrosion, making the steel “stainless.” There are over 150 recognized grades of stainless steel, and each has different properties and rust resistance. Some are better at resisting rust than others, but all can rust.

For proper operation, please read the instructional manual or please watch our video for programming. The steam pressure is changed through the front display panel.
