Rocket Spluga Espresso Coffee Grinder — Premium Prosumer Flat Burr Grinder
The Rocket Spluga Espresso Coffee Grinder is a professional-grade prosumer espresso grinder engineered by Rocket Espresso in partnership with Milan’s prestigious V12 Design Studio. Drawing inspiration from the legendary climbs of Italy’s Giro d’Italia, the Spluga is built for espresso enthusiasts who demand commercial-level grind precision, speed, and control.
Whether you’re dialing in a light roast single origin or pulling a classic Italian espresso, the Rocket Spluga delivers uniform particle distribution, rapid dosing, and a fully customizable digital interface — making it one of the most advanced home espresso grinders available today.
Key Features of the Rocket Spluga Coffee Grinder
65mm Flat Steel Burrs for Café-Quality Espresso
The Spluga’s commercial-grade 65mm flat steel burrs produce exceptional grind uniformity with minimal heat buildup, preserving the delicate aromatic compounds and flavor notes in specialty coffee beans. Ideal for espresso, the flat burr geometry delivers a dense, consistent particle distribution that elevates extraction quality across all roast profiles.
Quick-Release Stepless Micrometric Grind Adjustment
Forget endless twisting between brew methods. The Spluga’s dual-stage stepless micrometric adjustment system lets you unlock the collar for fast macro changes between grind sizes, then lock it back in for precise micro-adjustments — down to fractions of a gram per second. This makes it one of the most dialing-friendly stepless espresso grinders on the market.
3.5-Inch HMI Touchscreen with Programmable Dosing
The large 3.5-inch HMI touchscreen display puts complete grinder control at your fingertips. Save up to three timed dose profiles, track usage with built-in dose counters, add password protection, and personalize the interface with three color theme options. The intuitive UI supports two distinct operating modes:
- Standard Mode — Select a pre-programmed dose tile and activate via the portafilter microswitch for hands-free, repeatable dosing.
- Play Mode — Full on-screen control; tap to grind, adjust on the fly, no portafilter press required.
High-Speed 480W Direct-Drive Motor
Powered by a 480-watt direct-drive motor, the Rocket Spluga grinds at an impressive 2.6–3.3 grams per second — reducing workflow bottlenecks during busy mornings or back-to-back pulls.
Hands-Free Height-Adjustable Portafilter Fork
The anti-vibration coated metallic portafilter fork adjusts to fit 58mm and other standard portafilter sizes, holding your basket securely during dosing without manual support. This frees both hands for distribution or tamping prep.
IP68-Rated Waterproof Activation Button
Built to withstand the demands of a working espresso station, the IP68-rated activation switch offers full moisture and dust resistance — engineered to hold up through daily wet cleaning and high-humidity environments.

Features
Touchscreen Controls:
- Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screen: Advanced touchscreen display with multiple built-in functions.
- Dosage menu: There are 4 programmable dosing options. 1-cup, 2-cup, 3-cup, & start/stop. You can clean up the interface by turning off options you may never use.
- Dosage type selection (DTS): Switch between 2 grinding modes. Standard mode starts with you selecting your dosing option first, and then pressing your portafilter against a button to start the grinding. Play mode is the reverse, where you put your portafilter in place first, and grinding starts once you select your dosing option.
- Password protection: Don’t want anyone else touching or playing around with your grinder, set up a quick 4-digit password.
- Environment settings: Pressing the screen makes a sound. You can adjust the level of that sound or turn it off. Also, there is a light that illuminates your portafilter. You can adjust the brightness of the light or turn it off.
- Dosage timer: Each dosing option can be preprogrammed by 0.05-second increments.
- Dosage counter: Not only does it keep track of total uses of each dosage option, it also tracks usage during the current day and week.
- Date & time: Setting a time will display on the front interface. Setting a date works with the day/week dosage counter.
- Customizations: Choose between 5 different images when your grinder is in standby mode. Also, choose between 3 different color schemes for the display.
Grinding Burrs:
- 65mm: Huge burrs size for this size of a grinder. Puts it in the same range as a Mazzer Mini Electronic (which is 1mm smaller at 64mm). Depending on your grind setting, the Spluga can produce ~2.6-3.3 grams/second.
- Flat: Made of high-quality steel for durability and precision grinding. Paired with a high-powered motor for quick and smooth operation.
Grinding Adjustment:
- Stepless: Gives you an “infinite” range of grind settings, especially for espresso. The slightest turn of the dial can alter your espresso shot for the better. The adjustment is on the back of the grinder and has knobs on both sides, which is great whether you are left or right-handed. The indicator on the front points to the current grind setting. Going to a higher number makes the grinds coarser, going lower makes the grind finer.
- “Quick release”: To access the burrs, the adjustment dial doesn’t need to be completely removed. There are 2 joints on each side that pull out, then you pull the assembly away from the adjustment dial. This frees the dial so you can get access to the burrs.
Bean Hopper:
- Fingerguard: Prevents users from “accidentally” putting their fingers in the grinding burrs. Also helps reduce the “popcorning” effect of the beans when grinding.
- Stopper: A door at the neck of the hopper can be pushed in to close the opening. This allows you to remove the hopper with beans inside, making it easy to change the beans. There will be some beans already passed in the burrs, which will have to be ground out first before removing the hopper.
- Set screw: Secures the hopper to the grinder. Serves as a reminder to push in the stopper 1st if it is full of beans. Can install this screw in 3 different positions if you want the stopper to pull out on a different side.
- Logo printed lid: Not just any old lid, but a bean hopper lid with Rocket’s “R” printed on it! In a kitchen full of lids, at least you will know where this one goes.
Portafilter fork:
- Hands-free: Accommodates most portafilters, whether spouted or bottomless. Hooks onto a notch, so you won’t have to hold it when grinding.
- Rubber coating: Reduces vibration which moves your portafilter. Also helps prevent scratching your portafilter.
Grinds catch tray:
- Easily removable: Catches any residual grinds that may fall. Keeps your countertop clean. Easily fits onto the front foot.

Notes
Espresso Coffee Grinder Warnings:
- Roast Profiles: Espresso grinders sold by 1st-line Equipment, unless specifically indicated on the grinder page, are manufactured for coffee beans that have Italian or espresso roast profiles. Lighter roasted coffee beans may clog the grinder or not grind fine enough. Darker roasted coffee beans, such as French roasted or oily coffee beans, may clog the grinding chamber and/or the grinder chute where the ground coffee exits.
- Changing grind settings: It is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered on and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. To remedy this, you will have to open up the grinder to get access to the grinding burrs. This issue will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.
- Electrical cord: For most grinders, the cord is placed between the packaging (foam or cardboard) and the underside body of the grinder. During shipping, it is normal for a bend or insignificant blemish/slice to damage the cord.
- Finding coffee grinds in a new grinder: Most manufacturers test their grinders with coffee beans before they leave their facility. Unfortunately, they are not always able to get every trace of coffee out of the grinders after testing. As a result, you may find coffee beans or grinds inside your grinder, or there may be grinds in the packaging.
- Static issues: There are static issues with all grinders, even the highest-quality models. We firmly believe that the static comes from the coffee beans. If you are having static problems with your coffee grinder, try using a different blend of beans.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage (which is not considered a manufacturer's defect), please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. A surge without protection can damage a grinder at the power switch, the capacitor, the motor, or the wiring.
- Burr cleaning: For routine maintenance of the grinding burrs, we recommend using grinder cleaning agents. We do not recommend any removal of the burrs or the burr carrier for cleaning (unless necessary) as re-assembly can cause damage. If the grinder chamber is dis-assembled, the warranty is voided for any damages that result. It is important to always remove all coffee grinds from the threads of the burr carrier and the grinding chamber.
- Replacing burrs: NEVER use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to wedge UNDER the burrs for removal. This could badly damage your grinder.
