Description

Lelit PL41PLUST Glenda PID Espresso & Cappuccino Machine

The Lelit PL41PLUST Glenda espresso and cappuccino is another beauty in the Lelit line. She is the older sister to the popular Anna model, and they are very similar. Additionally, the controls are the same since they use rocker style switches. Also, the PID controls are available as well as the multi-directional wand.

The main difference between the Lelit PL41PLUST Glenda espresso machine and the PL41TEM110 Anna espresso machine is the grouphead and boiler size. Glenda has a commercal grade 58mm grouphead. Thus, this helps to provide better temperature stability for making espresso. The Glenda boiler is also slightly larger to allow for greater temperature stability and more steaming capacity. The high wattage heating element keeps wait times low when warming up or switching to steam mode.

Single boiler, dual-purpose system:
  • Brass – The 300 ml boiler helps maintain a constant water temperature for better espresso coffee extraction.
  • High wattage heating element – 1200 watt heating element for fast reaction time when cold water enters the boiler and quick warm-up times.
  • Security thermostat and security valve – Made for better pressure control.
  • Three-way solenoid valve – Allows for immediate removal of the portafilter right after the espresso extraction (or when the pump switch in coffee mode is turned off).
PID display:
  • PID display – Allows you to program the temperature of the boiler for different coffee bean blends. It also allows programming of C or F temperature scales as well as the P, I, and D settings. There is also the ability to reset the PID to the factory settings.
Steam/water wand:
  • Multi-purpose – Used for both steam or hot water depending on the current mode choice.
  • Multi-directional – Allows you to make creamy cappuccinos. Can extend out on the right side if you are using large cups.
  • Very short wait time – The small boiler and high wattage heating element, combined with the PID controller, cut the wait time from coffee to steam considerably.
  • Polymer tubing – The tubing that connects the boiler to steam / hot water valves are sustaining. They can resist high pressure & high temperatures up to 620 °F, facilitate easier repairs, and are limescale free.
  • Single hole steam tip makes life easier for frothing and steaming
Construction:
  • Stainless steel body and frame – Polished to a mirror finish and rust-resistant.
  • Water tank visibility – There is an opening on the left side of the machine that allows you to see the water level. This is a lot easier than opening the top cover to peek in.
  • Drip tray – The tray is made of plastic. The cover is made of stainless steel. Both are removable for easy cleaning.
Controls:
  • Power switch – Located on the left side of the unit. Easy to reach than in the back on the Anna model.
  • Three-way switch – Located on the front middle of the unit. This selects between the different modes. The up position is for steam mode. The middle is hot water mode. The down is coffee mode.
  • Pump switch – Located on the front left of the unit. This activates the pump for coffee or hot water when you lift up.
  • Steam / water knob – Located on the right of the espresso machine. Allows you to control the intensity of the steam or water output. Turn counterclockwise to open or clockwise to close.
Accessories included:
  • Portafilters – Dual spout portafilter. Commercial grade. 58mm in diameter.
  • Filter baskets – 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams.
  • Tamper – A cheap plastic tamper. Manufacturers will normally include a tamper like this to keep the overall selling price of the machine low. We recommend upgrading to a better tamper.
  • Coffee scoop – A simple plastic scoop if you are using pre-ground coffee. We like using the handle to level the ground espresso coffee in the basket.
  • Instructional manual – Written in 5 languages: Italian, English, French, German, and Russian. This manual includes information on how to use, as well as maintenance like backflushing & descaling.

  1. WARNING: This is a single boiler machine. Machines in this class do not fill the internal boiler from the reservoir automatically. Since the water level drops in the boiler during steaming, you need to replenish this to avoid damage to the heating element. The only way to do this is to run water through the steam wand with the hot water switch. This does not apply when extracting espresso.
  2. PID flucuation: Please note that during an espresso extraction, the incoming cold water will reduce the temperature in the PID display. This is normal. In steam mode, the temperature shown on the PID display will be higher than the programmed temperature.

Warranty Information

Who handles the warranty

Eligible warranty for Lelit home equipment is handled by 1st-line Equipment or representative thereof. If you have purchased your Lelit equipment from another retailer (not 1st-line Equipment), you must contact them first in order to get your equipment serviced under warranty.

What does the warranty cover

The warranty is limited to manufacturer’s defects only.

Regarding espresso machines: Limescale buildup can lead to problems with your machine. The warranty will not cover any repairs if our technicians find limescale in your machine. Although descaling can be a good alternative to remove limescale causing minerals (calcium and magnesium), we strongly suggest that prevention is the best form of maintenance. The reason is that descalers can cause wear and tear on components inside an espresso machine. This includes gaskets, o-rings, and other metal components. However, where there is a clog somewhere, descaling will be a necessity on the specified part, area, or entire machine.

Regarding coffee grinders: As with all coffee grinders, it is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered on and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and require cleaning by you every time this occurs. Changing the grind settings when the burrs are not in motion will render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. If this result occurs, this will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.

When does the warranty expire

The manufacturer’s warranty on new equipment is good for a period of 1 year from date of receipt which covers parts. Labor warranties may vary depending on the company you purchase from. Lelit products may have an extended warranty limited to manufacturer’s defect and will specifically state the extended period of time on your receipt.

Where will my equipment be serviced

In most cases, your Lelit equipment must be sent to a repair facility. If 1st-line Equipment will be servicing your equipment, you must either ship it or drop off at our facility in New Jersey.

How do I send in my equipment in for repair

If you are inside the warranty period and have purchased it from us, please contact us. Please be ready to provide the following information: invoice# of purchase, model of equipment, and a detailed description of the issue.

If you are outside the warranty period, whether you have purchased the equipment from us or not, please order a diagnosis. Please note that wait times can be up to 8 weeks. Our technical support staff can have a back log of repairs. As an alternative we have a listing of 3rd party repair companies across the USA that can assist you.
