Lelit 57.35mm Pre-tamp Coffee Leveler
This Lelit 57.35mm Pre-tamp Coffee Leveler PLA472A works on 57 mm portafilters like the Lelit PL41TEM Anna. It helps even out the coffee grinds in your filter basket. The black portion of the leveler sits on the rim of the portafilter so it levels the coffee perfectly. It also scrapes the excess coffee around the inside rim of the filter basket.
Also known as a tamper leveler, leveling tool, distribution tool, or pre-tamp leveler.
Previously known as PL121
Adjustable
The depth is adjustable by about 1/4″ by unscrewing the metal portion counterclockwise. There is a gasket that keeps the unit steady while turning. However, if you adjust too far (gasket goes beyond the black portion), the leveler will not turn properly.
Tamp by Volume
Most people use this as a pre tamp and then use a regular tamper to come in with full pressure. However, if you tamp by volume, then this tool may be all you need. The max depth this leveler can extend is approximately 1/2″.
Italian quality
This leveler is made in Italy. The black handle portion has the Lelit logo. A perfect complement to your Lelit espresso equipment.
Note: The logo can be different than what is shown. Some may just say Lelit.

A change made by Lelit that the world may never know the real answer. We believe it is exactly the same, but you can always ask Lelit directly. Then again, IF there was a change, it is unlikely the old version is available.
I ordered and received the Lelit 57.35mm Pre-tamp Coffee Leveler. The height should be adjustable but the handle does not spin. I called the 1st line phone number and confirmed my technique was correct. I was expecting a short video by email to make sure I'm not missing anything but have not received it yet.

Hi,
Here is a link to a quick video.
A It's not easy to grip the shiny lower metal part, especially when the height is close to its minimum setting. You need to grab it really tight somehow. You may need to dig your finger tips into the pointy edges, but once it starts rotating, it keeps going smoothly. Don't forget to clean the coffee grounds that get accumulated around the shaft - they make it difficult to rotate as well.
