Ascaso I..693 Reinforced S2 Valve

This part (I..693) is for most Ascaso espresso machines. This includes the Arc, Basic, Dream, and Steel models. It connects to the vibration pump (I..675). This is also known as the air release valve for ULKA pumps. It is normal for some leakage to come out of the T portion that usually returns to the reservoir or the drip tray.

    Please explain, is it used to release some water back to the reservoir if the pressure in a system is too high (say, the grind is way too fine)? I'm asking as some call this valve "Air Bleeder Valve" or "Autostart Breather Valve" which is confusing. Thank you

    It is an air release valve that takes out possible air being sucked in by the pump.
    2. My Ascaso Dream is leaking quite a bit between the ULKA pump and this valve, dripping water all over the machine's chassis interior. Does this count as "leakage from the T section", or am I looking at replacing the valve and/or gasket?

    Answered by the admin Sorry, we are unable to answer without evaluating the machine. You will need to take it apart and physically check for the leak.
    A you might need to add pfte or silicon tape to address the leak and/or buy this item if the orig one is too loose or cracked.
    A It seems that leaks between the pump and this part are not uncommon, as it is on the pressurized side of the pump. I fixed my leak by using teflon tape, assembling the tubing to the reinforced side first, disconnecting the pump, and rotating it to tighten the connection. This method of disassembly/reassembly does not put any sideways stress on the part. This is not a strong part, so you want the seal to come from the tape, not by over-tightening the connection.
