BBQ Coffee Dry Rub

It’s that time of year again: BBQ Season!

Here at 1st-line, we’re not shy of the grill, and we like to break it out for a nice Friday lunch for everyone here! We’ve got the perfect dry rub, for your next backyard cook-off; your family members will surely be asking for the recipe! And of course, the star ingredient is freshly ground coffee! We used this rub on some steak strips to make sandwiches, but this simple rub is great for any type of meat! And this recipe will give you enough for the whole season!

BBQ Dry Coffee Rub

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup freshly ground coffee
    (consistency of fine kosher salt)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tbs. chili powder
  • 2 tbs. kosher salt
  • 1 tbs. garlic powder
  • 1 tbs. onion powder
  • 1 tbs. black pepper
  • 1 tbs. paprika
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. cocoa  powder

Instructions:

  1. Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine well. Transfer rub into a jar for storage.
  2. Use approx. 1 tbs of rub per pound of meat (or to desired taste).
  3. Refrigerate for at least one hour before cooking for best results.
  4. Land it on the grill and enjoy!
