Universal 58mm Blind Filter Basket for Espresso Machine Backflushing

The Universal 58mm Blind Filter Basket is designed for backflushing and backwashing espresso machine groupheads equipped with a three-way grouphead solenoid valve. This blind filter basket fits most standard 58mm portafilters that accept 58mm filter baskets and provides a convenient way to perform routine espresso machine cleaning and maintenance.

During backflushing, the blind basket blocks water flow through the coffee outlet, allowing pressure to build within the brew group and circulate cleaning solution through the grouphead and three-way solenoid valve. It can also be used with an appropriate descaling solution to help circulate descaler through the three-way solenoid valve and, on machines equipped with one, the OPV (over-pressure valve).

Important Compatibility Information

Do NOT use this blind filter basket on espresso machines without a grouphead solenoid valve. Lever espresso machines are a common example. Because lever machines generally do not use a three-way solenoid valve, backflushing with a blind basket is not the appropriate cleaning procedure.

For lever espresso machines, the shower screen should be removed and the grouphead cleaned manually according to the machine manufacturer’s recommended maintenance procedure.
