This Sirai (pronounced “SUH-RYE”) pressurstat (pressurestat), also known as a pressure switch can be used on most commercial espresso machines with one, two or three groupheads. There are three sets of internal electrical contacts. Can be used for 110 volt, 208 volt, 220 volt, 230 volt, 240 volt, and 400 volt AC.
Some machines require a slightly smaller than full sized pressurestat for prosumer espresso machines, like ECM, Profitec, or Rocket Espresso.
This part regulates your boiler heating element via a diaphragm that expands or contracts as the boiler steam pressure raises or lowers. The switch behind the diaphragm activates the contacts and send power to the heating element telling it to turn on or off. It is by far the most common pressurestat used in our industry.
Most European espresso machine manufactures use British Standard Pipe (BSPP) fittings in their equipment. To measure a fitting, one measures the inside diameter of the male thread on a fitting. Most Sirai have the same fitting: ISO 228 G connection 1/4″M for pipe ø 4×6 mm. This presurstat can replace most full size pressurstats from Parker as well.

All pressure regulators are set to max pressure. However, each machine can require an adjustment based on the machine.

I used it on a BMC Valentina Uno.

This pressurestat has three relay controlled circuits, so it can make and break all three legs of a 240V circuit at 30A. If you are upgrading from a standard 120V two pole pressurestat, you only need to use one of the circuits. There is also a separate ground connection provided for safety. On my ECM Giotto, it was a tight fit and some massage was needed to get everything to clear nicely. Breaks at 1.0 bar and makes at 0.8 bar. Unlike smaller relays, this one can be adjusted without breaking it. Recommended. Check the dimensions, it is probably bigger than you think.
