Pre-infusion mode pre-wets the coffee grounds without the pump being enabled. This can help bring out different flavors in the coffee and also helps prevent channeling. Preinfusion can be turned on or off. When it’s turned on the pre-infusion time can be adjusted from 1-10seconds. The recommended time is 3-5 seconds, but can be changed to meet your personal tastes.

The direct plumbed version has a passive pre-infusion built in. The Dream T (Tank version) would need the pre-infusion chamber, which is purchased separately.
