Gary Broberg –
The board arrived broken. I understand their zero return policy but their qa/qc needs to do a better job ensuring the sale of functioning equipment. Can’t lie, very disappointed.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The new boards can damage immediately after install. The reason your old board, and your new board was damaged was that there is a blockage upstream from your pump. The pump overloads the board and fries the safety transistor on the board.
The second reason we have witnessed in front of our eyes was a crappy surge suppressor. We had a customer with the Inizio, brought in for repair and asked them about their surge suppressor. After the repair and a full week of testing, we asked the customer to pick up their repaired machine and asked them to bring their surge suppressor, which they claimed was used for over a year. We showed the machine working to the customer upon arrival. We then put the surge suppressor in place, and the safety transistor blew up immediately upon power up. Hence, cheap surge suppressors can cause damage as well as surges in the current. Just to note, recently, another customer with a Bezzera espresso machine which was just about 18 months old and had the same surge suppressor. This same cheap surge suppressor ended up damaging the power switch.
Although we appreciate your comments AND REVIEW, the root cause always needs to be solved first. Otherwise, the new part will get damaged as in your case. This should be the case for every part in an espresso machine.
