    Due to the size of the thread in the E61 group plug, and the size of the thermometer itself, the wall of this adapter gets very thin in that area. It takes very little torque when you are tightening the adapter into the E61 plug port to “unzip” the adapter in half, torqueing it apart into two pieces. The torque was low enough I thought I was compressing the o-ring, but i’d just destroyed the adapter. I wish this was steel rather than aluminum, but the price is great and it does the job so I just ordered a replacement.

    We have tested these with a few Taylor thermometers. However, some may not fit. The manufacturer does not provide any other details. Sorry.

    The manufacturer confirmed approximately M6 or 15/th64ths of an inch
    3. How long is the recommended thermometer probe length? What diameter probe is it designed for? Or is there a recommended thermometer? How far does it sit out of the group head?

    The manufacturer confirmed approximately M6 or 15/th64ths of an inch opening for the thermometer. Based on different E61 groupheads and the length of your therometer, the thermometer may stick our more or less. Hence, remove the screw on your E61 grouphead and stick in your thermometer to see how much it will stick out.

    The female thread is for the insert as well as the brass cap if the optional thermometer is not desired to be used.
