We usually just take vice grips to the old handle and damage it while removing. We have not tried water because we are unsure how well the water works.

Sorry, very difficult to perform this task without damaging the handle with pliers.
A Are you saying that this handle cannot be installed without the high possibility of breaking it or the portafilter head during installation? Also, I am seeking 1st-line’s recommendation on how to properly install the walnut handle and how to remove the original black handle. (As in what tools or steps preferred by the manufacturer)AEither one can be damaged as the black handle is on the metal portion of the portafilter because of thread sealant used. In other words, either or both pieces can be damaged.

We tested this handle on the Lelit 57mm filter head (which is for the Anna) and it does fit. It has the same thread size (M 10) as the Lelit filter handle.
