If your espresso machine is equipped with a 3-way group head solenoid valve, you can typically clean the group using backflushing detergent and a blind filter (backflush basket) according to the manufacturer's instructions.
If your espresso maker does not have a 3-way group head solenoid valve, do not attempt to backflush it. Instead, remove the shower screen and clean it manually with an appropriate espresso machine cleaning detergent.

Installation & Maintenance Tip
It is recommended to consider replacing the grouphead gasket at the same time as the dispersion screen. The old gasket can make removing the existing screen difficult and may damage the screen during removal. Many customers order an F15 grouphead gasket along with this dispersion screen for this reason.
For best results, inspect the dispersion screen regularly and replace it approximately every 6 months under high-volume use or when using oily coffee beans, or every 12 months under normal use. Clean the screen regularly to help prevent coffee oils and residue from restricting water flow.
Important: Compatibility should be verified by comparing the existing dispersion screen, grouphead, and machine model before ordering. The center metal piece may or may not be included in the screen supplied, depending on current supplier availability.
