Boiler Overheating (Coffee and/or Steam) – Elektra Verve

There are two boilers inside the Elektra Verve. You need to determine which one is overheated.

The steam boiler is not controlled by a PID sensor but by the pressure stat which is located on the left hand side of the machine if this is causing the steam boiler overheat and expand the safety valve so the boiler doesn’t blow up, this means your your pressure start is corroded with water and stuck in the open position. The part usually needs to be replaced as the water corrosion usually damages the part and cannot be cleaned.

If it is the coffee boiler, then the best way is to remove the water softener, fill the tank as the hose doesn’t go away to the bottom and run a descaler through the group head which will clean the coffee boiler this will clean the PID sensor without removing it. Please make sure do not open the hot water or steam valves as you will get the scaling solution into the steam boiler which will make it very difficult to remove and it is a very long process to remove the scalar from the steam boiler.

The pressure stat on the steam boiler cannot be descaled by putting the scalar in the to the steam boiler because the pressure stat is at the top where the steam is and at the scaling solutions on the bottom half so this is not the procedure to clean the pressure stat
