Moka pots (also known as stovetop espresso machines)
were and are still a popular method to extract moka espresso coffee.
Typically, water is boiled in the lower chamber whereby the steam
created forces the water through a middle funnel which enters
the coffee in the filter. The extracted coffee ends in the upper
chamber which is ready for serving to your guests. Typically,
each cup size represents 1 ounce of moka espresso.
The Neapolitan coffee makers are the appartuses
that allow Italians to make regular coffee on the stovetop. The
unit is turned upside down so that water is placed in the upper
chamber. Coffee is placed between the two filters, and the top
cover is secured to the bottom. The top portion is placed on the
stovetop and heated until steam exits the small hole on the side.
At this point, the Neapolitan coffee maker is turned upside down
to allow the boiling water to pass through the filter and coffee
grinds. The top section is removed, the lid is placed on the lower
serving section, and your delicious coffee is ready to be served!
Each cup size represents one ounce.
