Bezzera BZ02 Semi Automatic Semi-Commercial Espresso Machine

Overview:

Great for the home or office! The Bezzera BZ02S is designed to be left "ON" all day! As the lowest priced heat exchange machine with no coffee buying commitment, you can not go wrong! A powerful pump (EAP5 made by ULKA) and swivel steam wand make the Bezzera one of the few home machines that can brew espresso and steam milk at the same time!

This machine has some of the same components as the Pasquini Livia 90 espresso machine. In fact, we confirmed that the Pasquini Livia 90 is made at the bezzera factory. The boiler, grouphead, brain unit, and relay are identical. Although the Bezzera espresso machines do not sport the beautiful stainless steel found on a Pasquini Livia 90, the pricing on the Bezzera BZ02 espresso machines does make it quite favorable to those customers looking to save money.

Features:

  • Automatic water-refill of boiler allows continuous production of delicious espresso, cappuccino, café latte, americano and much more!
  • 15 Bar-rated three way solenoid valve relieves grouphead pressure which allows for quick and easy removal of filter handle immediately after extracting espresso
  • Zero recovery time - continuously extract espresso, after espresso, after espresso.....
  • Large, 1.5 liter copper boiler (0.2 liter included for heat exchanger) allows for continuous production WITHOUT any delay or wait time to steam milk for cappuccino!!!
  • REMOVABLE large one gallon (3.78 liter) water reservoir supplies water to the boiler for steaming/frothing milk and to the heat exchanger for making the espresso like the cafes!!!
  • Water reservoir particle filter prevents particle contamination and is hidden with a stainless steel top cover.
  • True, commercial heat exchanger is pumped fresh water from the water reservoir to the grouphead and filter holder! Water in the boiler is not used to make espresso. End Result: better tasting espresso coffee!!!
  • Built-in expansion relief valve to allow excess pump water pressure be relieved into the drip tray to avoid overextraction of your espresso
  • High 1200 wattage heating element gives you less than a 12 minute (approx. 9 minutes depending upon voltage) warm-up time
  • Vacuum bleeder valve allows machine to be placed on a timer
  • Computerized safety switch will turn the machine "OFF" when the water level is low in the reservoir - this prevents heating element burnout
  • Additional sensor in boiler prevents electricity to heating element unless heating element is submerged in water - this prevents heating element burnout
  • High limit thermal safety device located on boiler/heating element flange prevents electricity to heating element once 115 d C is reached - this prevents heating element burnout
  • Quality framework completely powder-coated for anti-rust protection.
  • Futuristic-designed body side panels made of ABS for thermal protection, and upper and back panel styled with polished stainless steel for a match in any kitchen or office!
  • Removable stainless steel drip tray grate coupled with black lower ABS plastic tray
  • Separate built-in water arm (right side of machine) for hot tea, cafe americano, and hot chocolate!
  • Swivel steam arm (left side of machine) built with independent steam valve and frothing aid
  • Stationary hot water arm (right side of machine) built with independent valve

Notes:

  1. Printable manual can be found here.
  2. Water tank - To remove the water reservoir from the machine, the water reservoir needs to be lifted about 3/4ths, then tilted and fully removed from the machine. The wire on the outside of the reservoir can be removed by pulling on the plastic electrical connector in the direction it is facing. It will slide off.
  3. For some strange reason, all stainless steel braided hose is designed in British Metric Units (BMU). A 3/8th" BMU is equivalent to a 3/8" NPT except for a slight change in the threading pitch. You need to crossthread a 3/8" NPT plastic adapter (usually found at Lowes) and crossthread until the s/s braided hose is not loose at the 3/8th" BMU nut at the end of same hose.
  4. Distilled water will not this machine to operate effectively. Reverse osmosis water with some mineral content, softened water, and/or bottled water are strongly recommended.
  5. Each machine is tested with water only, inspected, and calibrated for optimum performance! We make every effort to remove as much water from the boiler as possible. However, should your machine arrive wet, please allow it to air-dry for at least 48 hours.
  6. Enhance your Bezzera BZ02S espresso machine with a GoldPro2Hole Steam Wand Tip!
  7. IMPORTANT NOTE! 1st-line Equipment, LLC is an Authorized Bezzera Repair Center for only the models listed below, and we can handle the warranty repair for our customers' Bezzera espresso machines! Our Master Technician alone" has over 35 years experience in the coffee equipment manufacturing & espresso repair business!
  8. Bezzera BZ02S Semi-Commercial Semi-automatic Espresso and Cappuccino Machines with water reservoir (UPDATE: BZ02S models shipping May 8th, 2006 and thereafter have a boiler pressure gauge)
  9. By design, these Bezzera espresso machines listed are considered semi-commercial units by 1st-line Equipment, and sorry, due to value pricing, Bezzera espresso machines can not be returned once used.
  10. Differences between BZ02 and BZ07 models:
    1. The BZ02 has plastic side panels with a stainless steel rear, and the BZ07 as stainless steel wraparound body.
    2. The BZ07 is a narrower machine, and due to this, the water wand and steam wand are very close to each other.
    3. The steam wand and hot water wand are on a bi-directional, horizontal axis for rotation while the same on the BZ07 is multi-directional.
    4. The grouphead on the BZ02 is welded to the boiler and the heat transfers passively while the BZ07 has a heating element with a thermostat to control temperature.
    5. The steam and hot water wands are controlled by a rotational knob on the BZ02 and a spring-loaded handle on the BZ07.

Semi-Automatic Version

As shown in the machine above, the Semi-Automatic espresso machine operator controls the amount of water that flows through the coffee grind by pressing the "Coffee Brew" switch on or off. The "Coffee Brew" Switch is on the right side of the top, front panel. The Semi-Automatic feature is favored by those with espresso making experience since it allows them a greater ease to experimentation.
