Issue
One of our customers experienced an issue where they pulled the grouphead lever to pull a shot. The pump activates but no water is moving into the machine.
Diagnosis
First, put the grouphead lever in the down position. Check behind the top of the lever. Make sure it is not touching the microswitch. If it is, the switch needs to be inserted inwards 1-2 turns on the outer nut. Also, tighten the inner nut.
If no, then this may be a pump issue.
- Disconnect the heating element wires of both boilers and put electrical tape over them to prevent a short circuit.
- Make sure the water reservoir is inserted all the way and test.
- Remove the water softener and test.
- Plumb the machine into a water line and see if the water pressure blows out the air pocket.
- After this, you may need to disconnect each pipe starting with the pump, and see where there is water and see which pipe has no water.
If yes, then this is most likely a solenoid valve issue.
- On the left side of the machine, there are 2 solenoid valves. Check electrical connections on each and follow back to the brain unit.
- Take pictures and mark wires.
- Take apart each valve and look for a blockage.
- You can plug a cord to the two terminals into one solenoid valve and plug the cord into the wall outlet to see if you hear a click or feel a buzzing. This tells you the solenoid is working and the problem exists in the block underneath being blocked OR there is a blockage somewhere not allow water to pass to fill the steam boiler.
