The flashing 3 lights can be the result of,

  1. The microswitch behind the grouphead lever (the lever (while in the down position) is depressing the microswitch on the front wall), and/or
  2. The thin double red wires of the PID sensors are disconnected,

Microswitch

  1. Check to see if there is a little space between the switch protrusion and the lever in the full down vertical position. If there is not, the nut on the front needs to be spun outward so the switch can be pushed in so there is no touching.
  2. Then remove the reservoir, the top cover, and then the body panel.
  3. Remove the screws on the top and bottom of the machine.
  4. On the inside, the holding nut for the switch needs to be tightened. There is very little room for a crescent wrench to tighten the inner nut. Take a picture of the wires in case you need to remove them.

Flashing Lights

  1. Power off the machine and disconnect from the electrical outlet.
  2. Allow the machine to cool down if hot.
  3. Remove the reservoir, the top cover, and then the body panel.
  4. Remove the screws on the top and bottom of the machine.
  5. There is a double red wire on top of the boiler and one on the bottom. Do not twist these wires. Bother wires go to a 2-pin, typically black, connector.
  6. Reconnect of disconnected. Then follow the wires from the brain unit which is the black box on the left-hand side (facing front).
  7. Disconnect from the brain unit, one at a time, and reconnect. Test machine.
