Notes / Requirements before you start:

Descaling Manual LeverIf your instruction manual has specific instructions for descaling, we highly recommend using those instructions as the primary instructions. Use the following as secondary instructions.

  • Espresso machine – cold, powered off, plugged into an outlet
  • Descaling product – we sell Puly Cleaner
    • Make sure not to get any solution on any of the machine finishes as it can ruin it permanently. If you do, completely wipe the solution off with a damp terry cloth.
  • Container/pitcher – for mixing the descaling solution
  • Cup – (1 or 2) large, for dispensing the descaling solution

Instructions – Descaling Manual / Lever:

  1. Firstly, remove the water from the boiler.
  2. Follow the instructions on the descaler product for a proper solution ratio. Then pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
    • You must produce enough of the cleaning solution to fill your boiler.
  3. Place a large cup under the grouphead. Then pull down the lever action five full times.
    • This allows the grouphead to get saturated with the descaling solution.
    • Routinely empty the cup as you carry out the next steps below.
  4. Let the solution sit in the boiler for a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
    • This is to allow enough time for the descaler to be effective and not allow enough time for the seals to be eaten away.
    • Follow the solution instructions if the machine has to be heated or not.
  5. Remove the cup from under the grouphead.
  6. Remove and properly dispose of the solution from the machine.
  7. Rinse the boiler with fresh cold water three (3) times. On the third refill, place a large cup under the grouphead and activate the lever action five full times to get the grouphead fully rinsed.
