If your steam valve is tight, the issue may be one of 2 things:

  1. the part is defective.
  2. the ball joint inside lost its lubricant.

First, remove the wand and look inside the valve. If you see any cracks then replace the valve.

If there are no cracks visible, tilt the machine on its side and add a few drops of pure olive oil. Then use a crescent wrench and work the valve back and forth to see if the friction decreases. If it does, you can purchase Petrol-gel to regularly lube the ball joint.
