Before You Start

  • Remove any water softeners or filters from the water tank or intake hose.
  • A light descaler you can use is Durgol.

Descaling Procedure

  1. Fill the reservoir with a descaling solution safe for stainless and brass metals.
  2. Follow the dosages stated on the product package of the descaling product.
  3. Power on the machine and wait until it reaches the set temperature.
  4. Place a heat safe container of at least 1-liter capacity under the hot water spout.
  5. Press the hot water button to dispense water until it stops exiting the hot water wand.
  6. Allow machine to refill the steam boiler.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 2 times. Empty container, if and when necessary.
  8. In the setting menu, set the Pre-infusion time to “0” seconds.
  9. Place an empty heat safe container under the grouphead with the portafilter installed to prevent injury for hot solution.
  10. Press the dosing button to dispense water until the solution in the tank runs out.
  11. Remove any splashes of solution on the bodywork with a damp cloth.
  12. Power off the machine and leave the solution to act at least for 30 minutes, and up to 8 hours.

Rinsing Procedure

  1. Remove the water tank, rinse it well, and refill it with fresh cold water.
  2. Power on the machine and wait until it reaches the set temperature.
  3. Disable the timer from the settings, if activated.
  4. Place a heat safe container of at least 1-liter capacity under the hot water outlet.
  5. Press the hot water button to dispense the solution until it stops.
  6. Repeat step 5 until one full reservoir is depleted. It may take time for the steam boiler to refill and reheat up to pressure before more steam and hot water can exit. So, this process may take hours.
  7. Place a jug under the brew group.
  8. Use the push button to dispense water any where between 4-8 ounces of water from the coffee boiler.
  9. Wait about two minutes between every push of 4-8 ounces to avoid overheating the pump.
  10. Repeat this operation until at least 1 full fresh water tanks has run through the grouphead. This ensures that all the descaling residue empties out.
