Ponte Vecchio Export Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine

The Ponte Vecchio Export is now available in different color body styles!

Ponte Vecchio Export Spring Piston Lever Espresso Machine

Manual lever operation

  • Spring piston operated – The lever starts in up position. You then pull down against spring until coffee fills bottom of the your cup. When you release, the lever slowly rises and the piston spring pushes the lever to pump the water through the coffee grinds. If making double, it is important to pull the lever down a second time at the half way point and released. This kind of lever operation on the Ponte Vecchio Export is superior to other lever models without it. This is due to the pressure being consistent throughout the extraction.
  • Heating light – The heating light, which is on the bottom front of the machine, indicates when the machine is ready. The light will turn on indicating the water in the boiler is heating up. The light will turn off when the water in the boiler is at optimal temperature.

Brass boiler

  • Safety valve – This helps prevent the boiler from overheating.
  • Water level indicator – This gives a visual indication of the water level in the boiler. This also helps when filling the boiler to prevent over filling. When filling, keep an eye on the indicator. Once it is half full, slowly pour water in a little at a time, until it is about 3/4 full.
  • Cup heater – Passive heating from the boiler will warm up your cups. The tray has an angled design, so any cups will not accidentally slide off

Steam wand

  • Fixed position – Doesn’t stick too far out from the machine. This keeps the overall width low.
  • 3 hole – More holes result in faster milk frothing.

Accessories included

  • Portafilters – Dual spout portafilter. 45 mm size head.
  • Filter baskets – 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 11 grams. Pod filter basket which takes standard E.S.E. pods. 45 mm in diameter.
  • Tamper – A cheap plastic tamper. Manufacturers will normally include a tamper like this to keep the overall selling price of the machine low. This tamper is sufficient enough to make a quality shot.
  • Coffee scoop – A simple metal scoop if you are using preground coffee. A nice upgrade from the usual cheap plastic scoops found with other espresso machines.
  • Instruction manual – Simple to read manual written in 5 languages: Italian, English, German, French, Spanish.

Espresso Machine Warning:

  • ELECTRICAL WARNING: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. the lack of the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat or the wiring inside.
  • WATER WARNING: To increase the useful life of and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and without magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled water, purified water, nor reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale.
  • DESCALING WARNING: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. The reason is that too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine.

Do you sell polishing solution/cream/potion to bring the mirror shine back to my Ponte Vecchio Export? Also, do you sell the lens that goes over the sight glass (mine has a hairline fracture and I’d like to replace if this is even possible?) thanks!

Sorry, we are uncertain what could bring back the clear coat finish. Sorry, we no longer sell the cover.

    2. Hi, I see that there are conflicting answer around what kind of tamper is included. It seems like some machines have a proper metal tamper and some have a plastic one. Is there a way to guarantee being able to get one with a metal tamper?

Sorry, there are some machines with a plastic tamper, and some have a metal tamper. This is what happens when a manufacturer makes a change. At this point, we will update our machine pages noting which have a plastic tamper and which have a metal tamper. In addition, those with a metal tamper will have an increase in price for the metal tamper as we did pay more for those machines.

    4. 1. Do you happen to know how much pressure the spring will make initially and when it finishes? I’m just curious what kind of pressure it can build up, since it’s hard to find any real details. 2. For dosing, how much coffee would a double basket for, and what can you reasonably expect as an output. 3. Do all of them now come with a metal tamper? 4. Do you know if you will have the bottomless portafilter in stock anytime.

      A. Sorry, we do not have any tool that will ft to test this.

      2. For dosing, how much coffee would a double basket for, and what can you reasonably expect as an output.

      A. 12-14 grams. Output depends upon how long the lever is held down for.

      3. Do all of them now come with a metal tamper?

      A. Exports only come with a plastic tamper at this time.

      4. Do you know if you will have the bottomless portafilter in stock anytime.

      A. Sorry, we do not have an ETA.

    6. Hi, I just picked a Ponte Vecchio Export. First question is about the pressure stat. Cycles from about 1.5 bar, where it cycles off, then it goes all the way down to 3 psi (sorry to mix bar and psi but you get my point) before turning back on to repeat the cycle. I didn't find the pressure stat in the parts catalogue. Also, is there a group head kit? Or do I have to figure out all the gaskets individually?

Congratulations. You will need to locate the pressurstat in your machine and search for that code. Depending upon the production, it may be the 1/8 or the 1/4 threading. You will need to inspect prior to purchase.

      All gaskets are sold individually.

    8. Hi, Im looking at possibly buying this or the Lusso, where I have pause is i see the portafilter is 45mm, I have looked and I cannot find a tamper of that size on your sight or any other. We opened some of the Lusso & Export models and found a solid tamper in them. Our warehouse will have to open each one to verify.Ponte-Vecchio-tamper

We also have a bottomless portafilter which will work on either model.

Depending upon your version, it is usually one of these two Mater pressurstats: 1/8th" thread or 1/4" thread.

It is best to check your machine to confirm it is a Mater pressurestat and its thread size before ordering.

    16. When I fill the boiler (within sight glass limits) put the cap on and turn on the machine, machine leaks steam out of boiler cap so the machine never comes up to pressure. It appears the steam is leaking out of the small hole in the side of the cap, which appears to be there by design as a safety vent feature? Rubber plug is present inside the boiler cap, appears to be in good shape but the rubber seems a bit hard. I have tried hand tightening the cap to the point it is difficult to un-tighten. Steam leak is still present, putting the boiler cap on tighter doesn't appear to change how much steam leaks out. As far as I can tell it's not leaking anywhere else, but that is difficult to confirm with the cap leaking

You may need a new Ponte Vecchio Export boiler cap with a new gasket. Otherwise, it can be the threading on boiler.

A Turns out it was the threads on the boiler not allowing the cap to seat fully. Cleaned up the threads with a M22x1.5 re-threading die and it's working fine now.
