$749.00

This product has been sold.

These are refurbished units with a 6 month warranty. All have been tested to be in working order and will be tested immediately before shipping..

A huge legend in a small body – Mara is placed at the prestigious end of many home espresso machine. It combines the best technology ever – the legendary E61 grouphead inside an incredibly compact, full stainless steel body. The result: a marvelous, appealing and super compact espresso machine enabling to apply barista’s golden rules and extract the most tasty espressos and cappuccinos you can dream of.

This version of the Mara comes with a built-in PID Sensor.  This helps keep a steady boiler temperature, better than a pressurstat in terms of temperature management and in terms of reliability. Although this unit does not have a user programmable PID controller interface to change the boiler temperature, the manufacturer has a preset temperature for the boiler based on years of studying the PID.

Features:

  • Polymer tubing connecting boiler to steam and hot water valves are alimentary, withstand high pressure, withstand high temperatures up to 620 °F, facilitate easier repairs, and most importantly, are limescale free.
  • Stainless steel body with a satin finish (exterior only).
  • Dual pressure gauge – Top part measures boiler pressure (0 – 4 bar). Bottom part measures pump pressure (0 – 16 bar).
  • Separate indicator lights – Left light is for power to indicate the machine is powered on. Right light is for the heating element to indicate when the heating element is energized.
  • Multi-directional, no burn steam and no burn hot water wand and 2 hole steam tip.
  • Professional grade portafilter – double spout handle – with 58 mm with Lelit logo imprinted on the filter head.
  • Adjustable over pressure valve – top cover and body panel need to be removed to adjust. We do not recommend this as the pump pressure can be regulated by the grind fineness, amount of coffee in the basket, as well as the tamping presure.
  • Water reservoir has a two stage shut off. One shut off is for when removing the reservoir. The second shut off is a magnetic float to power off the heating element when the reservoir is low on water.
  • Manual resettable safety thermostat on top of boiler – this usually occurs if the PID sensor
  • E61 grouphead – hot water circulates from the heat exchanger through the grouphead and back to keep the grouphead to keep your portafilter nice and hot.
  • 1.4 liter copper boiler, insulated on side, with heat exchanger and thermo-siphon double cycle system to have the brewing group and the boiler always hot, at the right temperature determined by the manufacturer
  • Extremely low feet to create a very low profile
  • Power plug completely removable from rear of machine – make sure it is thoroughly plugged in as a weak connection can cause a fire hazard.
  • Accessories: Instructional manual, dual spout portafilter with 2-cup basket, cheap plastic tamper, plastic scoop, and blind filter basket/insert

My machine is not pumping any water out when the lever is set to the pre-infusion position (halfway between on and off), the pump is running and the gauge shows 9.5 bars but no water is coming out. Then when I push it all the way up water pumps out as normal and I can pull a shot. Am I doing something wrong?

The lever on the grouphead needs to be pushed all the way up to open the manual valve in the grouphead as well as hit the switch on the front wall to engage the pump.

    2. I noticed a puddle under my Lelit espresso maker last weekend but thought it could be from many possibilities. Today Saturday 11/2 it happened again. This time I took the top panel and side panel off and looked for possible drip. I found the drip coming from under the top solenoid what looked like through the center white wire clip. Help, I'm really bummed about this. I've stopped using. What should I do?

Sorry to hear about this. We spoke to your wife over the phone for the different courses of action. Usually, if there is a defect in a part, it usually occurs very early on, like in the first 3 months or less. Unfortunately, we also have seen limescale and oxidation create issues, such as leaking valves, breaking welds, corroding boilers, and many other things. Please make sure the use soft water - this does not mean filtered nor distilled/purified water.

    4. The sheet I received for the return authorization mentioned that I should not include any loose items like the drip tray, portafilter, etc. Does this also apply to the reservoir?

Return authorizations require everything to come back. Repair Authorizations, which was emailed in this case, require the reservoir and only accessories which may be causing the problem. i.e. portafilter.

    6. I am having a difficult time locating suitable suitable boxes for shipping that aren't unreasonably expensive (I have been seeing a cost of $50+ in some places). I have located two boxes (for double-boxing) that are inexpensive and durable construction (double-walled). However, the dimensions would require that I ship the machine on its side, rather than right-side up. Would you recommend against this?

It is always best no on its side, but UPS and FedEx tumble them anyway.

    8. The general instructions provided state that I need to turn on the machine and let it heat up to normal operating temperature. I am unable to do this because although the pump run when I activate the lever on the right, the boiler remains at room temperature. What is your recommendation?

In this case, the steam and water valves need to be left open. With the water reservoir and drip tray removed, tilt the machine side to side and front to back several times to try and get as much water out as possible.

Please note that any remaining water that exits these wands in shipping can make certain ferrous parts rust.

    10. The page describing how to drain the boiler mentions that if the machine is shipped, it must be shipped in the original packaging. What if this is not an option?

When shipping for repair, the only thing that should be included is the water tank. All other accessories should be held, unless it is an issue (ie portafilter leaking). If shipping to another buyer, the accessories should be shipped in a different box. If the originally packaging is not available, usually 4 inches of bubble wrap is needed on all 4 sides to absorb and impact from inertial forces that occur in shipping.

    16. Hi, just received the machine. Everything seems to work just fine. There is however a small leak from the Allen screw in the grouphead (where you would fit a thermometer) when the pump is activated. Is this normal? Should I adjust the screw?

Sorry, this is not normal. We are unsure how this happened as we bench test every machine. Please tighten screw. If it still leaks, remove an add a small amount of plumbers tape to the threads near the nut.
