Once scale in the capillary tube has caused the needle to move off of zero when off, does the gauge need to be replaced, or can it be reset to zero after cleaning or replacing the capillary tube?

Most often, the gauge is damaged and needs to be replaced. Sometimes, a descaling inside the gauge's port hole opening may sometimes correct the offset issue. The capillary tube can usually be descaled to correct a blockage, but not to correct the needle being offset.

    2. Do you have instructions on how to clear the capillary tube? My steam pressure gauge is stuck, which happened soon after a recent descale. Thanks.

      Another descale.

    4. So, how do I descale the machine so the capillary tube on the gauge doesn't get stuck? (I don't know how to do this, but I have the Ascaso descaling solution.) Does back flushing the machine help to resolve this problem?

The capillary tube needs to be physically removed and descaled separately. A machine descaling will not solve this problem because the descaling solution does not get high enough in the boiler to descale the capillary tube.

It should go to zero when the machine is shut down. The gauge usually gets stuck when limescale clogs up the capillary tube.
