Low grouphead pressure can be a bad pump, a clogged water softener, or MOST LIKELY loss of water in the heat exchange pipes which require filling during the first shot. The loss can come from a leaking OPV, leaking HX pipes, and/or partially opened solenoid valve.

We suggest descaling the grouphead only. Remove water softener before descaling. Otherwise, it may need to be evaluated by a professional as further detailed support is beyond the scope of our free services via Q&A.

Sorry, we do not and we do not recommend it because if the external water runs out of water, the machine can have significant damage to the pump and motor as well as the heating elements.

You refer to the hot water spout, but then mention that the steam wand was disassembled. The hot water valve needs to be inspected. Usually, there is debris not allowing the valve to close.

Too much cleaning or overuse of detergent is removing the oils from the lever section of the grouphead.

Always stop using an espresso machine that is leaking until it is resolved. On a cold machine that s unplugged from the electrical outlet, the top cover would need to be removed to see if there are any leaks. If none are found, a professional needs to get involved to assist. We suggest testing without the water softener and see if it improves. If it does, it means the water softener needs to be replaced.

If not, then run a descaler through the grouphead and see if it improves.

This problem has been identified and previously answered in Q&A. Please open up Q&A and search with Cntrl +F to find leak. We also have a video on our YouTube channel as well. "Bianca leak" can be searched their to find the culprit.

Since the machine is fairly new, it seems to be a loose connection. Please unplug machine from the electrical outlet and allow to fully cool down. Remove top cover and body panel per one of our videos. Follow the double red wire from the steam boiler (vertical and wider) to the brain unit. Unplug from the brain unit and replug into the brain unit. Try to test the machine before putting body panel and top cover back on. Do not stick fingers inside as to avoid personal injury.

The OPV, steam pressure safety valve and vacuum bleeder valve are three different parts. The OPV is for excessive brew pressure. The Bianca vacuum bleeder valve is for release of vacuum pressure and seals up when there is enough steam built up from the warm up of a cold machine. The Bianca safety valve is for excessive steam pressure when the element, pid sensor, a relay, and/or brain unit allow an overheat scenario.

The vacuum valve and safety valve can leak due to water corrosion. One will either see black, white or green discoloration on the inside portions. They can be descaled after removal from a cold machine and taken apart outside of the machine. However, if the reinstall does not solve the issue, this means water corrosion has usually damaged the inside of these parts beyond a descaling and new ones need to be purchased.

Sorry, the V2 can not be upgraded to V3 at this time as parts are not yet available. This includes a new LCC and internal parts. A white body is also very costly.

We are sorry to hear this. Sorry, it can be the power switch, the LCC, the brain unit or a wire. Too many parts to determine which part is defective.

Sorry to read this. pump noises can be attributable to various external causes. Make sure the reservoir water softener is not clogged by testing with the water softener attached. If plumbed in, reconnect in water tank mode to make sure it is not the plumbing line that does not have the 35psi of water pressure. Too high or too low water pressure can cause a sound.

Next, change the actual pump pressure on the pump. In case and decrease slightly to see if there is an improvement in the sound.

Finally, run a descaler per our instructions on our web site. And, check the inbound side of the pump itself for any debris as we have found one pump with clarified butter on the inbound side of the pump. Please do not ask how it got there as we have no clue.

It can be a broken gicleur or the threads in the holding nut of the flow control is damaged.

Grouphead pressure is not really related to boiler pressure. It is related, BUT NOT directly proportionally to the pump pressure.

The pressure gauge on the lower front panel is pump pressure reading.

The pressure gauge on the grouphead is a BREW pressure gauge. This gauge shows the result of the resistance that equates from the fineness of the grind, the amount of coffee in the basket AND the tamping pressure. This pressure will likely read differently than the pump pressure gauge as

a) it is measuring different parameters,

b) it is in a different location,

c) it is known to be different even when using a blind.

We do have clients who have used the Lelit Bianca in a coffee shop, in a mobile coffee truck, and/or mobile catering. In December of 2019, we performed a fund raiser event at a local charity and the Bianca made well over 250 8 ounce cups of cappuccino in a 4 hour period.

Please be aware that some towns, cities, counties, and/or states require NSF approval, and then there are the same that do not require any approvals as it is up to the local health inspectors.

It is best to find out from your local health inspector on the requirements, including the grinder.

Leave stock and raise it when entertaining or using in a commercial environment.

It sounds like the refill probe is scaled up. It needs to be removed and cleaned with a wire brush. The machine can be dropped off for service if you like.

Just use backflush detergent to clean. Please do not run the risk of taking apart the grouphead if you are usnure what you are doing.

We suggest not descaling unless there is a problem with the machine.

We strongly suggest diluting the tap water without 50-80% of distilled water and continue to use the Lelit water softener (recharging every week and repalcing every 6 months). The BWT may counteract the Lelit softener. Hence, if using the BWT to a separate dispensing faucet, then use the BWT only.

The ball joint may need some high temp food grade grease, such as Petrol-Gel or equivalent.

Please backflush as particles may be holding the valve open. Otherwise, it can be too fine a grind that is creating too much back pressure.

This means you have a short inside the machine somewhere. The short can be a heating element inside either boiler, the solenoid valve, or wiring that burned up and is touching metal. The machine, unplugged from the wall outlet, would need to be visually inspected inside with both top cover and body panel removed. The wires would need to be removed from each heating element, and the element tested for an ohm reading which can range from 8-20 ohms.

A multi-meter is needed to check the ohms or each heating element. All parts and wires need to be inspected for damage or a short. If all the GFI outlets are older than 3-4 years, it could be bad GFIC outlets.

Sorry for the delay. We have learned a few machines did not have "any or very little glue/sealant" to hold the threaded fitting to the inside of the wood knob. If you have a permanent glue to place on the inside of the wood, this would work. The c-clip does need to be removed from the stem before re-insertion.

It needs resistance in the portafilter to show resistance pressure, or the gauge area tube area is corroded with oxidation of limescale.

We recommend the higher price one as it is the more modern design like the Bianca.

Sorry to hear about this. The top cover would need to be removed. Power on the machine and allow to heat up. WARNING! Do not stick your fingers inside as it will get very hot. You will see two hoses exiting the steam boiler - one on the horizontal safety valve and one on the vertical vacuum breaker bleeder valve. Check to see which hose has a steam vapor going through. Be careful as you can squeeze each one for 2 seconds to see if there is a visible or verbal puff. If yes, this is usually corrosion from hard or too pure water. After the machine is completely cooled down and unplugged from the electrical outlet, both hoses can be removed by tugging on them. They may break. The affected part can be removed and soaked in descaler solution overnight. Then rinsed and reinserted using 2-3 rounds plumbers tape on the threads. Test. If problem continues, the part would need to be replaced as well as the water choise needs to be re-evaluated. We are not water treatment experts, so we are unsure about the system you have.

Please check without coffee. Your water softener may also be clogged.

Urnex Cafiza can be used for backflushing, BUT NOT used for descaling as some customers confuse.

Water softening recharge instructions can be reviewed.

We do not suggest descaling unless there is a water issue causing machines issues.

As for the low water notification, please make sure the black audio cable under the machine is taken out on both ends and re-inserted.

This seems to be the safety valve.

We have found, in cases of limescale or oxidation, either the bleeder (vacuum breaker) valve or the safety valve or both would not create a good seal. One way to test this is to remove the top cover and pinch one hose at a time (both on steam boiler) to determine which part is leaking. When pinched, the bubbling should stop. WARNING!!! BE VERY CAREFUL as one can get burned and we assume no responsibilities for any injuries or damages from performing this diagnostic task. You may also see the bubbling without pinching.

This is a result of backflushing with too much detergent or purified water - both result in the lubrication being removed. We suggest high temp food grade grease inserted in the cams at the inside end of the stem of the grouphead lever. Otherwise, over time, coffee oils may re-grease this area.

We do not recommend descaling. It is better to be preventative with controlling your water to be soft. Watch our videos on YouTube.

Sorry, the nut/screw is only available with the Lelit Grouphead Flow Control Assembly.

Empty water reservoir. Open steam and hot water valves to allow evaporation of both boilers. Lift lever on grouphead to allow evaporation of grouphead.

Upon return, recharge the water softener AND fill reservoir and run water through grouphead (24 ounces) and allow steam boiler to refill. After refilling stops, remove 4 cups of water from the hot water wand/valve every 5 minutes until a reservoir full of water is depleted.

First, the softener needs to be rinsed after a recharge in a salt water bath - usually 5 minutes or more for sinsing.

Second, Lelit stated, "yes, it is normal, you have to completely flush the boiler. It is happen because of the concentration of TDS in the boiler due to the steam production: let assume in the boiler you have 1 L of water with 100 ppm. If you consume 0.1 L of steam and you fill the boiler with new freshwater you have in 1 L 110 ppm TDS."

Third, Lelit stated, Following the client’s description we understand that he measured the water coming from the boiler, meaning while the machine is ON. The Conductometer/TDS meter measures the conductivity of water, some models convert the data expressed in μs/cm to ppm by a conversion factor, that generally is between 0.5 and 0.65. For example: 100 μs/cm = 50 ppm CaCO3. The measure displayed by TDS meter is temperature dependent: Water electrical conductivity increases with temperature but with a non-linear behaviour. Consequently, the fractional change per degree Celsius m f is not constant. Generally the TDS meter are accurate at 20-25°C. (image provided by Lelit)

We recommend using it in tank mode for at least 3 weeks.

As for plumbing, it is not easy and everyone has different scenarios. We have a guideline to be used for plumbing in.

Yes, you may need to even leave the steam valve open longer as this will be the only way to get solution into the steam boiler without opening up the machine. Try to funnel the steam to a vessel that can take the heat. The boielr can eventually run out of steam and rebuild. You will hear the pump refill the water that was converted by steam.

As for #12, please skip.

We have seen this on a few Bianca espresso machines. It is limescale that clogs the pipe from the water valve to the bottom of the boiler. Please run a descaler through the steam boiler by opening the steam valve (since the water valve is not working) for at least one hour so the solution can reach the boiler. Check back in 24 hours and see if the hot water valve works. If not, then more solution is needed. Remember to remove the water softener beofre inserting the solution. Here is a guide.

Brita is ok, but after the 1st week of usage, their softening mechanism does not work as well. By the 3rd week, it is shot. It is good for filtering other contaminants. At the end of the day, do NOT use any formulated waters.

We understand and appreciate your feedback. Please understand our reasoning and we work is based on cause and effect. We are only guessing the water. It may be your cloth or the pressure applied.

However, this is the first report of the logo being washed or taken off. Not one other customer in 3 years has reported this.  As with any painted item, it is subject to wear and scratches. In fact, the very first prototype still has its logo intact.

Other machines have painted steel frames and scratches tend to rust. Many espresso machine manufacturers usually do not cover cosmetics.

Please email us a picture with a serial number of the machine and a picture. We will see what Lelit decides.

Also, to have this repaired means the entire machine needs to be disassembled to remove the entire front panel which is on the front frame. This means both valves on front come out, the grouphead, LCC, and power button and gauge have to be removed. Please search for the panel on our site MC1400159 and you will see the panel. We also have a sticker that is slightly larger than the painted logos MX129.

We are very sorry to hear about this as this is the first we heard or seen of this issue. Lelit replied, "...the LELIT logo on Bianca is not a sticker, it’s applied as paint." Your water may be corrosive to the point that it removed the paint.

Best to use the original packaging. Make sure both boilers are drained. Leave the steam and hot water valves open as well as the grouphead lever in the up position. This will allow any water that may freeze to push out and not damage the pipes.

The pump pressure has no relationship to the steam boiler.

When you hear the pump, make a note of the steam pressure gauge reading. Test while sitting still powered on for a few hours.

Please read the entire Q&A. Portafilter gaskets and screens should be replaced every 6-12 months. The filter should be recharged every week and replaced every 6 months. Descaling should only occur if there is an issue.

There is a possibility that your steam boiler is overfilling on your new machine as the water refill probe has changed on the newer machines. On both machines, fully warm up and then open the hot water valve and measure how much water comes out when the pump kicks on. Shut valve immediately. And count the seconds on each machine it takes for the pump to stop and then for the temp to get back up by pressing the right button on the LCC to see actual steam temp.

The bleeder valve may be leaking, and you will see steam continuously come out of the front lower spout. Plug the unit into a GFI outlet, and check if it trips the outlet as this would indicate a heating element not submerged in water.

Lastly, the steam boiler may be overfilled with water. The Bianca espresso machine would need to be cooled down and unplugged from the electrical outlet. The top cover would need to be removed. The wire on the refill probe needs to be disconnected. The refill probe needs to be removed by the outer nut. Do not pull on the probe nor loosen the smaller nut. Wire brush the bottom tip of the probe. There is most likely build up there.

If you are using formulated water, please stop as this water causes issues with the probes and PID sensors.

The grill on top is not perfect as one may think as these are all hand made in Italy - they actually come with a little bend of the one rail. Yes, please email us a picture.

If the brew pressure gauge on the grouphead, then this is a grind fineness problem.

If it is the pump pressure gauge, the pump may need to be adjusted, descaled, OR the water softener is clogged.

MC931 only includes the valve. We are unsure why you think this part is defective as we have never replaced one on a Bianca. These valves last a LONG TIME UNLESS there is limescale.

Lelit just confirmed with us 2 hours ago that there is no Version 3 of the Bianca at this time. We are unsure where you are getting this misinformation. If they are selling something as a Version 3, then it is best you contact them.

On the last batch of May 2020, the tamper was 58.55mm. The baskets are fits for this tamper. This is subject to change in the future.

In case of Error 3 on Lelit Bianca, we usually recommend this procedure:

1. RESET the machine (press in + button and power on, wait 20 seconds and power off)
2. Remove the eventual resin filter and fill the water tank with plain, bottle water
3. Insert the water wand into a tank containing at least 1 liter of water
4. Open the water tap on the machine
5. Turn ON the machine and follow the “first start” procedure
6. After having refilled the coffee side, the machine will fill the water tank
7. Wait until there is at least ½ l water in the water tank
8. Turn OFF and afterwards turn ON the machine
9. Close the water tap

If not solved, there is a possibility that the refill solenoid valve wire or refill probe wire were disconnected in shipping at the top of the boiler or at the brain unit. On older machines, the solenoid valve may be blocked or the refill probe needs to be cleaned.

First, NYC water is most likely good drinking water, but from our experiences, not the best water for espresso machines. Most formulated waters, in our experience, have been worse in terms of creating over heat situations. We suggest using water without magnesium and/or calcium. First, the grouphead gasket should be changed every 6-12 months. More use or more time powered on, then more often.

Second, the brew pressure gauge in the grouphead shows the resistance created by your grind, the amount of coffee in the basket, and your tamping pressure.  As long as water stops or slightly dribbles when the paddle is in the left position, this means the flow control is working. If the blind is put in the portafilter and the paddle is all the way to the right, the brew pressure gauge should reach 10 or more bar and shows the gauge is working properly.

Thanks for the email. Since you know if it is not the water, we would be interested in your findings on the cause of overheating as every single case of an overheat has been attributable to the water. In fact, you can watch our video on this.

Unfortunately, the PID sensor on the steam boiler will need to be removed and wire brushed. There is most likely a slight film from the water that is not allowing the sensor to read the proper temperature and thus causing the overheat, which is the higher pressure as indicated here. So far, the several customers who had this issue resolved it by cleaning the sensor, changing their water, or becoming more frequent in their water softener recharging (once per week) as well as replacing their water softener every 6 months.

It is similar to our VBM video.

Right now, we are expecting May 15 or shortly after.

Our recommendation is power down an espresso machine if not being used for more than 2 hours.

Usually, if there is a problem within the grouphead, the pressure usually will not reach 4 bar. Please put in the blind filter and test with paddle in full open position (right side). If it reaches within 1 bar of the pump pressure gauge on the front panel, then this is pointing to the grinder.

Thanks for the inquiry. Our first recommendation is to use the machine in tank mode for a minimum of 3 weeks to make sure your water is ok with the machine - meaning not too pure which would cause an overfill issue.

Second reason is that you can check the position of the machine before plumbing in. Then we can assist with the BWT as this system works quite well with the Bianca.

Please review our video about overheating. The PID sensor on the steam boiler probably needs to be wire brushed.

This can happen from backflushing with too much detergent or water that is so pure that it removes the gel inside the lever arm on the grouphead. Coffee oils can sometimes revolve this. However, we do sell PetrolGel to insert  into the chamber when the lever arm is removed.

Sorry to hear about this. Please try to insert/remove the drip tray on an angle. These will sometimes come off, but we have not seen much on our prototype machine in our showroom. The water you are using is known to cause issues. Please use softened water. We would need a video emailed to us to determine the noise you are experiencing.

In many cases, manufacturers will not share their specifications so as to prevent manufacturers from easily copying. Their response to the size is M8,50x0.75-6g. Please note that every manufacturer reserves the right to change specifications without notice to us or to customers. The brew pressure gauge should go up to 9-11 bar with the blind filter basket inserted into the portafilter inserted into the grouphead. AND the paddle turned all the way to the right. It can take up to 10 seconds to reach this bar pressure on the grouphead gauge. If it does not, please contact us.

If you do get this pressure with the blind but NOT with your coffee, then the grind is NOT fine enough or you have too little coffee in the basket or both.

Too much backflushing with too much detergent. Should resolve itself with coffee oils. Otherwise, use PetrolGel to re-grease.

Drain the pump, boilers as best as possible, leave the grouphead lever up as well as both valves open. Try not to store in freezing weather.

We suggest recharging the Lelit water softener minimum once per week. Replace it every 6 months. In addition, look at the Oscar90 on our web site as an additional layer of water treatment to help prevent limescale build up - limescale build up causes the PID thermo-couples to not accurately asses the programmed temperature and cause an overheat situation.

It really depends. If the coffee boiler is warmed up and the steam boiler is still heating, there is an overshoot programmed on the coffee boiler to reach "about" 217 d F which would put the water at over boiling. You may also have the coffee boiler temperature too high, or your elevation is coming into play.

If this happens after the steam boiler completely heated to programmed temperature, then you may have a small leak in the manual grouphead valve (spout on bottom of grouphead, not the front panel) or the OPV (overpressure valve which drains into the front panel along with the vacuum breaker valve on the ). This is something that will need to be watched - the top cover needs to be removed to watch the OPV.

Sorry, we do not see any from Lelit. The only thing we can suggest is buying the dual spout version and purchasing a generic single spout.

Remove and reset the parts inside the reservoir. There could also be a crack in the water softener or a pinhole in the hose.

There is an algorithm to overheat the coffee boiler so the steam boiler can get full power to heat up faster. Otherwise, like other dual boiler espresso machines, the power alternates between both boilers and the stability decreases.

We have seen overheat situations attributable to limescale build up on the PID sensors in both boilers. It is imperative to properly treat the water as preventative maintenance.

Remove the water softener and water from the reservoir. Fill the reservoir with 32 ounces of white vinegar.  Run the white vinegar through the grouphead and let sit for 2 hours and then rinse the reservoir, fill with water, and flush out the white vinegar. test th emachine to see if the issue improves. If it does, then the steam boiler sensor will need to be manually cleaned with a wire brush. Contact us.

Sorry, we can not recommend this water source. First, there is usually not enough water pressure in most cases. Second, you are making the Bianca pump do double duty of pulling and pushing while the Bianca tank is designed with a gravity feed. Third, if you run out of water while the steam boiler is trying to refill, there is a possibility that the heating element will go through a meltdown without water and the safety thermostat. Lastly, a water treatment system needs to be in place. Again, we strongly advise against this water source.

Unfortunately, we cannot say YAY nor NAY as we do not know what are the short or long term effects are.

Thanks for the emails. We had one previous case where the threading on the top nut because worn. We send out a replacement nut which should resolve. If not, please email us directly.

Turn paddle to full open. You will need to remove the paddle and needle valve nut (not bottom larger nut). Then check the gigluer inside. Email us pictures.

There should be zero flow when the paddle is to the left. Issues can arise if limescale builds up. We have seen cases of limescale that have stopped a good seal from occurring with the paddle all the way to the left.

In addition, we are starting to realize that limescale may be a culprit in the gigleur from breaking off because customers may be tightening the paddle with more force to create a zero flow, and then the needle gets stuck in the gicleur, which then breaks off.

It is best to put the machine in tank mode, remove the water softener, and run 16 ounces of vinegar ONLY through the grouphead full open on the paddle. Sit for 2 hours. Rinse with 32 ounces of water. Test.

The boiler could be too full. Or, there is limescale in the valve. With the machine cold, the safety valve should be removed and inspected on the inside. However, it should not be taken apart.

Yes, this happens when the in tank water softener is not charged minimum every 2 weeks or when the in tank water softener is not replaced every 6 months.

If plumbed in, it can be too much or too little water pressure, and the same as tank mode when a water softener or filter is inline.

So far, we have not replaced any pumps since September, 2018 when we started selling the Lelit Bianca.

You can test without the softener to see if the problem goes away. If it does not, a quick descaler (without softener in place) can be run through the grouphead.

More than likely,  the internals, of where the lever inserts, needs lubrication. We do sell Petrolgel for this.

This is caused by build up of excessive oils from the espresso extraction, too much detergent used in backflushing, too many backflushing sessions with detergent, and in some cases we have see, water that is too pure in that it strips away the oils.

Sorry to hear this. An adjustable can be used as well as a 22mm crescent wrench can be used to tighten the holding nut.

Recharge water softener minimum every 2 weeks with a salt cold water bath for 20 minutes, then cold water rinse with faucet running for 5 minutes. Hard water more often on recharge.

Please note you are not using distilled water. If you did, the steam boiler would be overfilling and water would constantly push through the front spout on the front panel. We can only suggest using soft water, and not purified, distilled, nor reverse osmosis water.

As for Third Wave water tablets, we have customers in the past 3 months with overfilling issues on their heat exchanger and double boiler machines as well as 2 Bianca owners experiencing issues. Hence, we can not recommend it unless other owners have used it successfully.

Also, back flush with detergent once every 50 extractions using our procedures with the paddle in the full open position.

From a liability perspective, 1st-line has to recommend using the water softener. Without it, we would get blamed for limescale. Unfortunately, we have not tested this scenario. The other issue is different RO systems produce different results in the water. In other words, we have seen some RO systems create too pure water where the steam boiler is overfilling and leaking, and we have seen other systems where limescale builds up inside the machine.

In your case, we suggest using the softener. If the boiler overfills and the front spout is continuously releasing water from an overflowing steam boiler, then you can choose to remove it. If the steam boiler still overfills, then the water may still be too pure.

This will become a trial by error scenario as there are so many different scenarios for water.

We have seen this issue last week with a different Bianca customer. It is imperative to use SOFT water, and not hard, purified, distilled nor reverse osmosis water.

With hard water, limescale will typically slide down the boiler wall and accumulate at the bottom of the boiler. The accumulation will clog the brass output coupling that connects to the pipe that leads to the back of the hot water valve. This coupling on the bottom of the boiler will also build up oxidation from purified waters that can also block this coupling.

There are 3 ways to correct this. Machine should be in tank mode and not connected to any plumbing. Unplug electrical cord from electrical outlet in 1st and 3rd cases where machine is taken apart.

The preferred but more difficult way that our technicians will do is

a) Remove the water tank assembly, top cover and body from the machine. Remove drip tray and and any other loose items.
b) Disconnect the pipe from the back of the hot water valve
c)  Turn machine upside down so the bottom of the steam boiler faces up
d) Disconnect the pipe from the hot water valve from the coupling on the bottom of the steam boiler
e) Remove the coupling for manual descaling and cleaning.
f) Reassemble with plumbers tape only on the coupling going into the steam boiler. The other 2 connections are compression.
g) Test the hot water valve before placing the back cover back on. Check for any leaks.

The easier way, but longer way, without disassembly is...

a) Put the Bianca in tank mode, remove the water softener, and reconnect the hose to the adapter inside the reservoir. Power on to full heat.
b) Fill the reservoir half way with descaling solution or white vinegar
c) Place the steam wand tip into a large cup, cover the cup with a towel, and let the steam continually run
d) It will take hours for the descaling solution to get in to the steam boiler.
e) When the reservoir runs out of solution or vinegar, refill with water.
f) Let the machine stay heated, please another large cup under the water wand tip and open the water valve. If solution/vinegar exist the wand, the problem is solved. If not, repeat the process with the reservoir filled with a half tank of solution or white vinegar.
g) If successful, fill reservoir with cold water, and drain a tankful of water through the hot water valve. The process to avoid damage is remove 4 ounces, let machine refill from reservoir, remove another 4 ounces, let machine refill from reservoir, and repeat until steam depletes. Steam pushes the water out of the hot water valve. Let machine make more steam so more water can be pushed through.

The third way is...

a) Allow machine to be fully cold. Remove tank assembly and top cover.
b) Disconnect the wire to the probe nearest to the outside side wall. Do not touch nor remove the other wire as it will damage the PID sensor.
c) Remove the probe. There are two nuts, and removal is with the larger nut. Do not pull on the probe nor loosen the smaller nut as this will damage the boiler refill probe.
d) Get a funnel and pour about 8-16 ounces of strong descaling solution or white vinegar into steam boiler.
e) Reassemble probe into boiler and re-attach wire.
f) Let sit for 8 hours.
g) Warm up machine and test the hot water valve.
h) If successful, fill reservoir with cold water, and drain a tankful of water through the hot water valve. The process to avoid damage is remove 4 ounces, let machine refill from reservoir, remove another 4 ounces, let machine refill from reservoir, and repeat until steam depletes. Steam pushes the water out of the hot water valve. Let machine make more steam so more water can be pushed through.

Everyone has different opinions based on backflushing.

Excessive backflushing can cause excess stress on any espresso machine pump. Hence, we always recommend short backflushing. In addition, too much detergent can create clogs in the grouphead.

Any quality backflushing detergent is acceptable.

Sorry, we do not sell the Quickmill Flow Control Device. Hence, we are unable to answer this question.

The MC747PLUS is more suited for the Bianca. The MC747 is for the smaller Lelit models like the PL41 Anna or Glenda.

Sorry for the severe delays as we had a massive power outage last week from the tropical storm that hit New Jersey and wiped out electrical power for almost 70% of the state.

In most case, these parts do not need to be replaced. The reason the safety valve may be leaking steam is because the PID censor has oxidation or limescale, and the PID sensor in the steam boiler can not read the correct temperature.

The PID sensor on the steam boiler will need to be cleaned.

A wet puck is from using too little coffee in the basket. It means there is too much space between the screen and top level of the ground espresso coffee.

Sorry, we are not sure what else to recommend as far as steaming/frothing milk. From a technical perspective, it could be your steam boiler filled too much because of purified water.  When the steam boiler is overfilled, steam pressure is not good. We suggest running the steam and seeing how long in seconds it takes for the pump to refill the steam boiler. Other than this, it will come down to re-learning the technique or the actual milk.

We suggest testing with the blind. If the brew pressure gauge reaches over 10 and is consistent, then it is a grind fineness consistency issue.

If it fluctuates with the blind inserted into the portafilter in the grouphead, then check your water softener. It probably needs a recharge or a replacement.

If the problem persists after the above, then descale the coffee boiler only after removing the water softener and reattaching the hose to the proper position. Run about a half tank of descaler through the grouphead and let the descaler sit for 60 minutes.

The Lelit Bianca hose should connect straight to filter head or other components of the BWT system. On the water line side, the BWT optional hose needs to make the transition to standard US threading.

Water in New York City is actually quite good as drinking water. However, we have numerous clients with our espresso machines that have experienced limescale issues. Some of them were very bad. Hence, we recommend the Lelit water softener as a cheap insurance plan to safeguard the Bianca. This is why we strongly advised, basically required Lelit to include one with every Bianca.

We are sorry to hear about this. We have seen this on 4 other units here in the USA. There have been a few of these in Europe. However, this problem is very low when thousands of these have been sold.

At 1st-line, we do bench test every Bianca for water to make sure there was no damage into us as well as make sure the paddle operates properly from full open to full close. We are unsure why this happens on a few units. The little gicleur on these few units seemed to have broken. It is usually a simple fix as only one customer was not able to replace the gicleur inside the grouphead.

Lelit stated they tested it and it did not perform as well as they desired.

Yes, this upgrade kit can be installed. However, if there are no issues, it is not needed.

At this time, chrome plated brass portafilters.

Thank you for the follow up. Lelit has confirmed if you have RT (real temperature turned on), the temperature is programmed to overshoot during warm up. The LCC V1 will not show this.

Most likely, it could be the cable ribbon was installed in the incorrect slot on the back of the LCC. Please double check it. You can confirm by putting back the old LCC.

It could be coincidental that the probe wire from the brew boiler has covered with limescale or oxidation. Remove the filter from the reservoir and run about 16 or more ounces of descaler (not backflush detergent) through the grouphead only. White vinegar can be used, as well.  Let it sit for 2 hours, then run 32 ounces of water through the grouphead only.

Please make sure the steam boiler is turned on in the LCC.

In addition, you may have inserted the ribbon cable into the wrong slot on the back of the LCC. We believe this because many others have upgraded without issue.

If the new LCC V2 worked for a month, then most likely is not the new LCC V2 .  When the LCC fails, the machine will usually not function at all. Hence, this issue is pointing towards the steam boiler itself.

Please unplug the machine from the outlet, allow to fully cool, and remove the water reservoir or disconnect from plumbing. Remove the body panel.

Checking Heat Element
Please check underneath after removing the port hole cover under the steam boiler. Please check for loose or burnt wiring. If you have a continuity tester or multimeter, remove the 2 connections and check the heating element for continuity or an ohm reading of 8 to 20 ohms. Then contact us directly via email or the contact us/need help form on our web site with your details.

Checking Wire Connections
The 2 wires from the steam boiler heating element post need to be tracked back and make sure they are connected on the other end. On top of the steam boiler, there may be 2 sets of red wires. The center set of 2 on the steam boiler need to be checked back at the brain unit. The second set connected to the top outer perimeter of the steam boiler should not be connected.

Sorry, your first question was not as clear as the second time. Even a customer understood it as the plumbing.

Similar to competitive models, the internal pipes are currently manufactured in copper with brass fittings and brass valves. The Lelit Bianca includes a water softener to prevent limescale and to lessen the chance of having to perform a descaling. Scale build up can occur on stainless steel as we have seen in the past. Hence, proper softened water is essential for not only the machine's long term reliability, but also for the espresso extraction.

We will share your desire with Lelit, but stainless steel pipes usually increase the price of the machine by minimum $200, and this is something that does not happen in just a few weeks. In addition, when there is a lot of stainless steel, there is a potential for galling.

The Lelit Bianca dual boiler espresso machine can be used in reservoir or plumbed in mode. The stainless steel braided hose is included with the machine.

We always suggest using, where possible, all plumb-able espresso machines in tank mode. The reason is to make sure issues are not created by the water line pressure. After a few weeks in reservoir mode, plumb in the Lelit Bianca dual boiler espresso machine per our requirements.

If an issue comes up, then we know it is the plumbed in water line. If the water line pressure is too high or too low, there will be issues with the pump making strange noises.

The free spin in the knobs is normal and expected for non-compression valves. Please watch our videos....

Chances are the issue is NOT the pump as the bianca has an upgraded pump.

Make sure the reservoir is full inserted. Push down hard on the reservoir.

In tank mode, remove the water softener and test. If it improves, then the water softener needs recharging or replacement. If in plumbed in mode, check inbound water line pressure and any filters water softeners in place. You may need to bypass those water softeners or filters to test the machine.

With the backflush insert inserted into the portafilter and locked into the grouphead, lift the lever for 30 seconds. It is normal for the water to exit the lower grouphead valve.Check to see if the little spount has a lot of leakage as the OPV inside may be contaminated and redirecting the water pressure to the little spout on front.

Use detergent to backflush the group to clean the gaskets in the lower valve.

Lastly, shut off steam boiler. In tank mode without the water softener, run descaler (or white vinegar) through the coffee boiler with the blind insert in the portafilter. 30 seconds on/30 seconds off. Repeat 5 times. Let sit for 20 minutes. Repeat 6 times. Sit for 20 minutes. Repeat 6 times and let sit for 20 minutes. Then rinse reservoir, run half a quarter tank of water through the grouphead every 10 minutes until empty.

Hopefully one of these resolve your issue.

Sorry, we were not clear. We are still investigating changes to the internal programming of the PID parameters which are modified through the LCC. This is not easy, and it may take a few months as some Bianca customers are helping us because 1st-line and Lelit are not physically located at high altitudes.

We suggest holding off with the Bianca for now. We are working with a customer in Denver at ~5500 feet above sea level to figure out the configurations. There will definitely need to be a reconfiguration of the internal LCC parameters, but we are trying first at the lower elevation.

Sorry, we are expecting more mid-to late June 2020. The Lelit Bianca, being designed from the ground up, has blown away the competition, including copy cat manufacturers who do not realize that its not just the paddle and flow control that need to be copied. There are a lot more secrets in the Bianca than just meets the eye.

Yes, it should.

Check the black wires under the machine. Power off machine. Disconnect and reconnect each side.

Check the float in the reservoir and make sure it is not stuck in the up position.

Unusual fluctuation noises on rotary vane pumps usually result from the following:

a) In tank mode, the water softener is impeding the flow. You can test this by removing the softener, and attaching the intake hose tothe bottom adapter as connected when the machine was first delivered. If there is no more fluctuations, then the softener needs to be recharged 2-4x per month and replaced every 6 months.

b) In tank mode, there is an air pocket in the water softener or the hose is not properly attached. Fill water tank to above the water softener and run pump. Note where on water softener where pump changes and inspect for any holes in the water softener above that point.

c) In direct plumbed in mode, check the water line hose for any kinks. Make sure the water line pressure is between 35 and 40 psi. Check the filter and water softener by bypassing them and seeing if the fluctuation goes away.

This sounds about right. Please make sure the machine is warmed up fully - meaning temperature is not flashing on the LCC.

The hot water does exit with steam.

The only other thing is that the knobs were over tightened and the internal gasket is sticking. The valve would need to be disassembled through the front when the machine is cold.

Lastly, limescale can build up inside an espresso machine in as little as two weeks. We had one Bianca owner who used the tank filter, never recharged it, and had limescale in less than 4 months. Do not underestimate the damage caused by limescale.

The steam boiler can be too low in temperature. Try 255 degrees F. In addition, if you have scale build up OR the water is too pure, the the water level may be too high inside the steam boiler.

If too much water, you need to open the hot water valve and see how much water fills a measuring cup before the boiler refill kicks in the pump. Close the hot water valve once the pump kicks in.

Lastly, limescale can impede the flow of the hot water pipe inside at the bottom of the boiler. We have seen limescale build up there on all types of machines.

Yes, from our 23 years of experience, metallic tastes are resultant of the water being used. Although we cannot pinpoint the exact water, we believe water with too low of a TDS will make this occur.

If manufacturing was the issue, it would be very widespread. However, these one offs particularly are the resultant of the water being used. Use tap water for a week, then use bottled water (that is NOT distilled, purified, not reverse osmosis) and taste test.

Sorry, we are working on a limited capacity inhouse due to the Coronavirus and employees working remotely from home. During backflushing, the grouphead's bottom spout will allow water to exit and enter the drip tray. When making espresso, if the grind is too-too fine, it is possible that all the water will be directed to the drip tray.

First step is to coarsen the grind to where 10 bar is achieved on the grouphead gauge. If it still leaks through the spout of the grouphead, second step is to power down the machine, unplug the machine's electrical cord from the wall outlet, and allow to full cool. The bottom spout can be removed. The gasket will need to be checked for any contaminants, such as a metal shaving, embedded coffee build up, etc. Once inspected and corrected, re-assemble and test.

For storage up to 2 weeks, just empty the reservoir, power off machine and unplug from wall outlet. If plumbed in, unplug from wall outlet and turn off separate water shutoff valve.

Grouphead water pressure sounds about right. IIRC, Lelit stated 110-110 mL per 20 seconds.

The temperature is based on what tastes best for your espresso blend.

As for the drip to drip, this depends upon your preparation. It will depends upon pre-infusion, grind fineness, and position of the paddle.

Yes, we do have these large 2 cup filter baskets for the Lelit espresso machines with 58mm handles on our web site. We also have competition filter baskets.

1/4" would be the minimum, but 3/8th is best. The reason is that smaller diameter tubes can cause vibration of the pump. In addition, we recommend using the Lelit Bianca espresso machine in tank mode for a few weeks. Like this, we know the machine works correctly and we remove the possibilities that the machine is at fault when connected to the water line.

The Lelit Bianca was designed for optimal performance at 15 amps. No switches to press. No plugs to change. No worry about 20 amps.

To clarify, you can still use a 20 amp outlet.

Sorry to hear about this. After powering off the machine, allowing it to cool, and unplugging the electrical cord from the wall outlet, please proceed to remove the top cover. Check for any loose hoses or leaks. If you have one of the very first units, check the white elbow on top of the steam boiler. There have been a few issues where the white elbow became warmed and disconnected fromt he vacuum breaker valve. The solution is to remove the white elbow and place the silicone hose directly into the bleeder valve as is done on the latest versions.

The Bianca espresso machines does not have programmer capability for turning on and off. The reason is that most espresso machines with this programming logic can only be turned off once or twice per day. We strongly suggest a WEMO smart timer. With a WEMO, the smart timer can be programmed multiple times per day as well as turned on and off from your phone.

We do not recommend a mechanical timer as we have seen many customers with many different machines experience surges that damaged electrical components. We have not seen this yet with WEMO.

However, it is still a good idea to put a surge suppressor with a 1080 joules rating in place for all appliances, including espresso machines and coffee grinders.

If there is no leakage in the manual valve below the group head (not the OPV spout on the front wall), then this mostly pertains to the coffee and grind fineness. Sometimes, in the beginning, the ground coffee swells (higher pressure) and then channeling occurs forming a lower pressure.

Remember, the gauge on the group head is the result of the pressure created by the amount of resistance from the fineness of the grind, amount of ground coffee in the basket, and the tamping pressure.

This was a surprise for us when Mauro, one of the 4 brothers who owns Lelit, visited us last week on Monday and announced to us just as the shipment was being unloaded from the container Monday morning. They were keeping this a secret.

Mauro said replacement upgraded V2 LCC units will be available hopefully by end of March. They will cost about $100 just as the price of the Version 2 went up $100, but we will have an alternative offer, as well. Please wait for details in an email from us.  The really interesting part is that the steam boiler safety valve does not need to be replaced because they already built the structurual integrity of the boiler for minimum 3 bar pressure as well as the safety valve opening at 3 bar. Lelit just amazes us how they think ahead!

Sorry for the delay as there was an issue with the Q&A system. It seems the OPV (over pressure valve) may need a cleaning. A particle or limescale could be holding it open. Increase the pressure in the OPV. If it does not solve it, please let us know by calling Jim.

Sorry, we do not make instructions for each individual machine. Our basic instructions are suitable for the Bianca with the addition of leaving the paddle in the full open (right side) position).

It is better to use a Flojet or similar style pump because double duty (pulling and pushing water) will decrease its useful life over time. In addition, since the water reservoir will be deactivated, it is important that the Lelit Bianca espresso machine does not run out of water. The reason is that the external reservoir can be empty, the boilers in the machine run out of water, and the heating element or both get damaged as the machine thinks there is a constant supply of water being in direct plumbed mode. Hence, the external water reservoir always needs to be filled, and the external pump always needs to be powered on.

The PID temperature adjustment capability will assist you in this high altitude scenario on the Lelit Bianca Dual Boiler espresso machine.

Thank you for your inquiry. Although the Lelit Bianca dual boiler espresso machine does not have a phone app for the flow control device, the Lelit Bianca has a needle valve controlled by the wooden paddle (flow control device) which can be changed on the fly during the espresso extraction.

From our understanding of the Dalle Corte Mina dual boiler espresso machine, there are only 5 programmed profiles that can be engaged with the lever and these 5 staged profiles can not be modified during the extraction.

The Lelit Bianca allows infinite profiles through the use of the paddle with direct feedback on the grouphead brew pressure gauge. This simple methodology offers complete control. The reason is that as the roasted espresso coffee beans age, the oils tend to head inward of the bean with oxidation. The Bianca paddle allows instant adjustment during the extraction. The downside is a little more work reacting to creating the best espresso extraction possible. This is where absolute total control is available at a fraction of the price of a Dalle Corte Mina espresso machine, which currently sells for $8500 and was recently as high as $10,000.

The counters on the tank can track the refilling of the reservoir. The water softener can be recharged 1-2x per month. It should be replaced every 6 months to avoid build up of bacteria, mold, or fungus in the filter.

The differences in brew pressure usually result from the grind fineness, the amount of coffee in the basket, and/or the tamping pressure. The brew pressure gauge (on the grouphead) will show the maximum pressure from the resistance in the coffee puck in the filter basket, then the paddle can reduce the flow of water and pressure of water being exerted on the puck.

The pump pressure gauge shows the actually pump pressure from the rotary vane pump.

Sorry, we can not always recommend procedures from other companies. We do have our own general instructions for draining dual boiler and double boiler espresso machines, such as the Lelit Bianca espresso machines.

Stainless steel is not a good alternative for the paddle or knobs on the valves. The reason is that these parts get awfully hot!

We have heard some customers staining the paddle, knobs, and feet. However, we can not guarantee a success.

Great question!

More important is emptying the water reservoir and allowing it to dry. Mold and/or dust can build up in any water reservoir on any espresso machine after 2 weeks.

In all cases, the electrical plug should be removed from the wall outlet. The separate shut off valve should be closed on a direct plumbed-in unit (make sure to put a note on the machine to not power on the Bianca espresso machine until the water supply has been opened)

As for the internals, if storage is in freezing temperatures, the boilers need to be emptied and the grouphead lever lifted up.

If the machine remains in non-freezing temperatures, just power off the Bianca espresso machine.

Thank you for your inquiry. Numerous Lelit Bianca customers have plumbed in their drip tray catch basins without a hitch. In very few cases, the Bianca espresso machine did need to have the machine raised by unscrewing the feet downwards.

The majority of espresso machines with a plumb-in drain option have a catch basin. This allows for the removal of the drip tray to be removed and cleaned for sanitary reasons. If the metal drip tray had a connection for the drain hose, one would no be able to connect the hose without having excessive hose to disconnect and connect. This excessive hose can cause the same issue. Removal of the hose too many times can cause wear and tear on the drain hose at the connection.

In addition, the elbow would usually require a nut on the inside portion of the drip tray. This nut would NOT allow the drip tray to fully clear 100% all the expired fluids of the drip tray. Hence, the drip tray would need to be removed more often for manual cleaning which become difficult because the tray is not easily removable.

Lelit mentioned to raise the level of only the two (2) front feet as a possible solution.

We will advise to run hot water through the hose to straighten it out from the original curl. The hose needs to drop 1 inch for every 12 inches across. In some cases on other machines, where there is a curl in the drain hose, we will temporarily prop some cardboard or items to keep the highest portion of the hose downward. Once the hose flattens, these objects can be removed.

As for an elbow as mentioned, we found an elbow and fastener that could work. However, it would only raise your drain hose by APPROXIMATELY 3/4" higher. This elbow would require drilling the hole in the drip tray and a holding nut on the inside of the drip tray. And, it may need to be installed while the drip tray is in place because the elbow may interfere with the frame being placed or removed from the machine.  Please note that we have not tried this, and we are unable to guarantee it will raise your hose enough to drain easily.

Lelit Bianca Pulsating Pump Gauge

One reason we ask all Bianca customers to operate the machine in tank mode is to confirm everything is working perfectly. Tank mode becomes a benchmark to determine issues when plumbing in. The direct plumb hose and fitting included with the Bianca has not only be tested by Lelit and 1st-line, but also has been used by dozens of customers who plumbed in the Lelit Bianca espresso machine.

The grumbling pump 'usually' indicates the rotary pump is pulling for water and is 'usually' indicative of not enough flow. The vibration of the stainless steel braided hose included with the Bianca further supports that there is not enough flow to the pump upstream of the pump. The current water pressure regulator may be doing a good job controlling the water line pressure, but it may be too restrictive in allowing proper flow.

We suggest temporarily removing the regulator and see if the problem goes away or if it continues to exist, the issue may be further upstream.

Yes, we recomend a flush valve to clean out any paper sediment in the manufacturing of the filter cartridge. A pressure reducer will reduce changes of leaks and also keep water pressure constant. We recommend these water test strips to monitor your water on a regular basis.

It is 3/8th BSPP which has a different pitch in the thread of US standard. You can read more in our basic installation requirements. We also have an example of the BWT system plumbed in. The BWT kit with their adapter hose works extremely well with plumbing in most European plumb-able espresso machines.
