Lelit 9700050 Steam Boiler Safety Valve – 3 bar, 1/8″ M

This safety valve (9700050) is for the Lelit Bianca (PL162T) & Mara X (PL62X) espresso machine models. Crescent wrench typically needed ~5/8″ (~16mm). Take out from bottom nut, not the top barbed nut. If this part leaks steam, it means the boiler is overheating from limescale on the PID sensor and the steam boiler gauge is over 3 bar.

If leaking steam when the boiler is under 3 bar on the steam boiler gauge, then it means particles from limescale or oxidation keeping the valve open.

I have the BWT Bestmax S and am having the above issue where my bleeder valve continues to drip after the machine is fully heated. Would you suggest I replace the vacuum breaker valve and steam boiler safety valve?

Yes, we would suggest replacing both. The BWT in some cases may not be enough for certain waters.

    2. Hi I have a Bianca Lelit and I have leak issue with my Safety Valve MC9700050. I think this is known issue, if I change it, the problem will eventually re happen again! Is there a workaround to change it for an other component, others brand/model, with the same specifications? Regards Ben

The problem is the water. Customers who use softened water tend to not have this issue.

The bleeder valve will get a steam leak when corrosion results from purified waters, formulated waters, and hard waters. The valve gets stuck open and has a steam leak. Pinching the hsoe atatched to the bleeder valve after the machine is fully heated will confirm a steam leak once released after several seconds of holding.

The safety valve will also get corrosion to cause a steam leak OR the boiler is running hotter because the PID sensor has corrosion from the same aforementioned waters.

Just changing the above parts without correcting the true cause will result in constant repeating issues. For those customers who corrected their water, we have not heard back after this issue. For those customers who continue to use the same detrimental water, the problem recurs. This is why it is important to get to the true cause: the input is water.

To answer your question, there are no alternative parts to compensate for bad water.
