Eureka Atom 60 Espresso Coffee Grinder

The Eureka Atom 60 is a versatile grinder for both espresso and drip coffee. Use the portafilter fork to grind directly into your portafilter for espresso. Furthermore, you can easily remove the fork and slide in the clear container to grind for drip coffee. Its compact dimensions and low profile bean hopper makes it a very good fit for your home. We recommend this grinder for some semi-commercial home espresso machines, including the Lelit Bianca. Learn more about the Eureka Atom 60 to produce the perfect espresso and drip coffee for your espresso machine! Additionally, check out our other Eureka espresso coffee grinders!

Grinding adjustment
  • Stepless - Gives you an "infinite" range of settings. This allows you to really fine-tune your grind to your espresso machine. Turn clockwise for a finer grind and counterclockwise for a coarser grind.
  • Perfect positioning - The adjustment knob is located on the top right of the grinder, underneath the bean hopper. This helps keep the overall width of the Eureka Atom 60 low compared to other grinders that have it on the side. This also protects it from hitting against other equipment.
Grinding burrs
  • Flat grinding burrs - Large size at 60 mm. The larger the size, the more of a grinding surface, resulting in faster production. The burrs are made of long-lasting, hardened steel.
  • High rpm - Fast spinning rate at 1650 rpm. The higher the speed, the faster the production, which can increase efficiency and reduce wait times. Espresso grinding is approximately 1.9 - 3.1 grams/second. Drip coffee grinding is approximately 2.5 - 3.7 grams / second.
  • Sweeping fan - Helps push beans down to the burrs for a smooth operation.
Electronic controls
  • Time-based grinding - The "1-cup" mode can be adjusted from 0.5 seconds to 25 seconds. The "2-cup" mode can be adjusted from 0.5 seconds to 35 seconds. You can adjust the time by 0.1-second increments. The semi-automatic mode tracks the time from start to stop.
  • Color display - When semi-automatic dosing, the display switches to a picture of a grinding burr with a timer in the center. It will count up by 0.1-second increments until you stop. When electronic dosing, the screen will highlight whether you select "1-cup" or "2-cup". The timer will count down when you start the grinding cycle.
Ground coffee container/portafilter fork
  • Ground coffee container - Used mainly for drip coffee grinding. Holds approximately 5.3 ounces (150 grams) of ground coffee. Made of clear plastic and sits comfortably underneath the coffee chute.
  • Portafilter fork - Used mainly for espresso grinding. The distance from the portafilter fork to the coffee chute is approximately 3". There is a built-in lip that helps hold your portafilter in place. The distance from the portafilter fork to the lip is approximately 2".
Bean hopper
  • Low profile - The Eureka Atom 60 by itself is just under 13.5". The bean hopper adds less than 4" to bring the total height a little under 17.25". The shape of the bean hopper matches the body style of the grinder so it won't stick out. The hopper holds approximately 1.1 pounds of whole coffee beans, about half of the standard kilo bag of coffee.
  • Rubber neck guard - The bean hopper sits comfortably on top of the grinder. There is a rubber neck guard that helps protect the neck of the bean hopper from cracking.
  • Set screw - Secures the hopper to the grinder. Prevents users from quickly removing the hopper, spilling beans everywhere.
  • Finger guard - Prevents users from "accidentally" putting their fingers in the grinding burrs.
  • Stopper - A door near the bottom of the hopper can be pushed in to close the opening. This allows you to remove the hopper with beans inside so you can easily change the beans. There will be some beans already passed in the burrs which will have to be ground out first before removing the hopper.
Color options
  • The Eureka Atom 60 is available in black, chrome, diamond gray metallic, gray, and white.

Notes

Espresso Coffee Grinder Warnings:

  • Changing grind settings: It is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered on and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. To remedy this, you will have to open up the grinder to get access to the grinding burrs. This issue will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.
  • Electrical cord: For most grinders, the cord is placed between the packaging (foam or cardboard) and the underside body of the grinder. During shipping, it is normal for a bend or insignificant blemish/slice to damage the cord.
  • Finding coffee grinds in a new grinder: Most manufacturers test their grinders with coffee beans before they leave their facility. Unfortunately, they are not always able to get every trace of coffee out of the grinders after testing. As a result, you may find coffee beans or grinds inside your grinder, or there may be grinds in the packaging.
  • Static issues: There are static issues with all grinders, even the highest-quality models. We firmly believe that the static comes from the coffee beans. If you are having static problems with your coffee grinder, try using a different blend of beans.
  • Electrical: To avoid electrical damage (which is not considered a manufacturer’s defect), please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. A surge without protection can damage a grinder at the power switch, the capacitor, the motor, or the wiring.
  • Burr cleaning: For routine maintenance of the grinding burrs, we recommend using grinder cleaning agents. We do not recommend any removal of the burrs or the burr carrier for cleaning (unless necessary) as re-assembly can cause damage.
  • Replacing burrs: NEVER use a flathead screwdriver and hammer to wedge under the burrs for removal. This could badly damage your grinder.

Sorry, we do not stock it.

    2. I have a Eureka Atom 60 with an inconsistent issue, approximately every 6 months or so it will get into this cycle where it will not start grinding when any switch or button is pressed that would normally start the motor, that is until I power off and then turn back on whereas it will work again for one time. To be more descriptive, when I press the button, I will hear the small click of the relay only which is very quiet and the timer on the screen will begin to count down or up as usual, the screen thinks the motor is grinding but only the relay has clicked. I'll push in my portafilter to start and I'll hear the relay click but motor won't start, then I reset my grinder with on/off switch and the grinder will work only once and then need to be reset again. It is a strange problem that I guess is either an issue with the screen or with the relay board below the motor or perhaps the motor itself. Amazingly 100% of the time if I turn off the grinder and back on, then it will grind again by using any of the normal buttons that start the motor, either from the screen or portafilter switch, but typically it will only work once and rarely twice but I'll then I must power off/on the grinder again to get it to grind once again. I know this sounds crazy, generally this will be an issue for a week or maybe two and then the grinder just continues to work normally without needed to be turned off/on and basically works as it did in the past where I can start/stop the grinding as many times as I would normally and it performs as you would expect. Then eventually some months will pass and I'll push in my portafilter to start and I'll hear the relay click but motor won't start, I reset with on/off switch and the grinder will work only once and then need to be reset again. Back into the issue just like in the past. It is a strange problem that I guess is either an issue with the screen or with the relay board below the motor. Does it sound like I need a capacitor? Have you come across this problem with any other Eureka grinder owners?

    6. What I meant by "Is this grinder good for single dosing?" Can it be used as a single dose! Is it easy to add beans to hopper per dose or is there a single dosing available similar to the Vario single dosing hopper?

Many customers use this grinder for single dosing. However, there can be challenges with bean popping. The Blow Up system helps with clearing the chute from the grinding chamber to the external dispensing area.
