Elektra Verve Dual Boiler Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine 110V

Overview

The Verve is Elektra’s newest technologically innovative dual boiler espresso machine! Since the brand is hitting its 52nd year in the specialty coffee industry, it is the perfect time to bring out a machine that is digital, stunning in design, and certainly capable of making the best brews. The Elektra Verve features a PID, which allows you to program the temperature for both the brass coffee boiler and the stainless steel steam boiler. Futhermore, you will be able to control the PID as well as other parameters with your smartphone!

Additional Features:

Even more, the Elektra Verve has a beautiful stainless steel body and fine wood on the side panels as well as the knobs and 58mm portafilter. Different wood options, including oak, ash, and mixed wood (at a higher price) will be available. Although the espresso machine is of semi-commercial grade, it is very suitable to use in your home espresso bar. Additionally, the Elektra Verve will work wonders in your restaurant, coffee shop, or office all thanks to its high levels of adaptability!

Are you actually interested in a similarly designed espresso machine with a heat exchange system instead? Then check out the Elektra T1 Sixties Deliziosa!

Please note that Elektra has decided to start with only one wood option As of August 12, 2020. Other wood options may be available in the future, but there are no expected time frames.

Features
Verve-phone
  • Of course, this machine gets better! You can use the direct Wi-Fi connection on your smartphone for many different settings. To learn how to activate the Wi-Fi connection for iPhone and Android, view the instructions in the images on top!
  • Use an app on your smartphone to control settings (brewing temperature, pre-infusion time) before the brewing process.
  • NOTE: To get into Wi-Fi mode, the keylock needs to be turned on to the 3 o'clock position. To turn off Wi-Fi mode, stop the phone app, and get into brew mode, the key needs to be turned to the 12 o'clock position.

Please note that the phone app has to be closed AND the Wi-Fi connection has to be terminated before the espresso extraction can start. This means the phone app is not live time during the espresso extraction process.

Verve-wood
  • To point out a change in Elektra’s standard stainless steel design. The Elektra Verve has a stainless steel body with wooden side panels, knobs, and a portafilter.
Verve-gauge
  • A rotary pump, dual scale pump pressure gauge/steam boiler pressure manometer, and a saturated brew group integrated coffee boiler.
Verve-steam
  • The unit consists of a brass coffee boiler and a high-volume stainless steel steam boiler managed by a pressurestat. The 4-hole steam tip helps froth milk faster and easier.
Verve-tank
  • Switchable – Can easily go from direct connect mode to 5-liter tank mode and vice versa.
  • Open top water tank – For easy cleaning and water refilling. We do however recommend removing the water tank to fill it with water.
  • Water softener – Already attached inside the reservoir.
Verve-parts
  • Portafilter – 1 58mm dual spout with wood handle.
  • Filter baskets – 1-cup (~7g), 2-cup (~14g), & blind (for backflushing).
  • Keys – For programming.
  • Trip tray extender – For smaller espresso cups. Distance from the drip tray to the portafilter spout is ~4.25″. Distance from the extension to the portafilter spout is ~3.25″.
  • Power plug – Detaches completely from the machine for long-term storage.
  • Water line hose – For connecting to a direct water supply. Comes with fittings on both ends.
  • Drain hose – For draining the drip tray.

Notes

General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:

  • Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
  • Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer’s defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
  • Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
  • Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
  • Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

Finding your part
  • Please use the parts diagrams provided below to determine the part(s) you need. Then use our search box above to find the part(s) on our website. If no results come up, more than likely we do not stock the part.
  • If uncertain, please go to the equipment model or part product page. Then use the Q&A tab found on that web page to ask your question.
  • Lastly, and only if the first 2 options were exhausted, please use our parts inquiry page.
  • Our call center does not have the training to handle parts inquiries for over 60,000 different parts items. Asking any questions regarding parts will more than likely result in you being referred to the above steps.
  • Please note also that all parts purchases are non-returnable or refundable and do not include technical support, instructions, or warranties as the purchase price of any part does not cover the cost of technical support. Technical support is available for repairing equipment in our shop.
  • Sorry, we will only special order a part for a model we carry AND was purchased through our supply chain.
  • Since we are unaware of the mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing expertise of a parts buyer or the tools owned by a parts buyer, we are never able to advise if a self-repair can be performed.

Answered by the admin 45 minutes provides the best temperature stability for any dual boiler working on 110 volts. It can get by within 30 minutes. We have not tested the machine for back to back shots. One reason is a test in one environment with different ambient temperatures, differing voltage that ranges from 108 to 125 volts in different places, the warm up time of the machine, the draft of air, and other influences can impact any dual boiler machine. Our competitors who publish their test results do get customers who complain that their results are different.

    8. Hi, I have seen in your catalog two machines that interest me, the Elektra Verve and the VBM domobar super digital. I would like to know in your opinion which machine seems better to you. I see that the Elektra no longer has the classic e61 group but a saturated group with programmable pre-infusion. Which group do you think is better? Which coffee maker is more durable? What machine would you buy? Thank you very much again. Salu2 ; Diego

When I push the power button it turns red but that's it no pumps turn on or anything just silent. Just wondering if I'm missing something?

    20. Is this machine quiet? Specifically do any metal bits rattle while the pump is on? I have a VBM machine purchased from you folks. Good machine but, very, very noisy in an unpleasant way. Stainless steel parts (cover and drain pan assembly) vibrate against each other when pump is active. Makes a terrible noise. Have tried installing cushions with only partial success. Interested int he Elektra Verve but, for the price, I now want a relatively quiet machine, as well as one that makes a great espresso. Thx

Unfortunately, there 'can' be some rattling as there is some metal to metal contact. The rotary pump is louder than some others, but it is a tradeoff for the higher quality in the cup this machine typically produces. We will have more videos in the near future.

If you aren't changing temp or infusion (or any other required parameters) - are you able to operate your machine without your phone at all, or is a wifi connection required to operate the machine and pull a shot/steam some milk etc? We had one customer with a Wi-Fi issue so far. There is no phone application. The machine has its own Wi-Fi which you can connect your phone to. Once connected, you can change settings and then get off the WiFi. The machine still operates just fine.

For the one customer with Wi-Fi issues, the machine is here in our shop. The only time the Wi-Fi disconnects is when the mobile phone goes into sleep mode. This customer also had another problem with a grouphead error code. The problem was it was leaking water through the group. We had asked the customer to run white vinegar through the grouphead and he refused. After running vinegar through the grouphead, the dripping stopped and the grouphead error code has not returned. Unfortunately, the customer thought it was a 'bad apple' machine, but it has been running in our shop for the past 4 days (including weekends as we come in to catch up).

First, please use the machine in tank mode for three weeks. We want to make sure there is no issues with the type of water you are using. When plumbing this machine in, please review our commercial espresso machine installation instructions as most of the same applies.

Since  every installation is different, it is best to email us for support.

A The settings automatically are displayed on the phone when connected to the machine's Wi-Fi network. The machine acts as its own Wi-Fi host, and provides settings for preinfusion, water temperature, and night-time sleep mode. There are also settings to reset various counters, such as cleaning and water softener replacement. Turn the key on the front, connect to the machine's Wi-Fi, and then the rest is automatic.

Sorry, we are unable to answer many questions at this time, because the finalized production version has not been determined. Any answers would only be speculation.

A According to Java Jim in the video at 2:02 ... you can program preinfusion from 0 to 20 seconds. Just a guess, but because you can set it as long as 20 seconds that would more or less indicate it should also be available on via reservoir. Most high end prosumer machines that use line pressure via a plumbed unit limit the preinfusion time to ranges of less than 10 seconds.
