ECM Synchronika Dual Boiler Espresso Machine – PID, Switchable

The ECM Synchronika stands as an exceptional espresso machine renowned for its stunning aesthetics and outstanding performance. This visually captivating machine seamlessly combines form and function to deliver an unparalleled coffee experience. Equipped with dual boilers, including a powerful brew boiler and a dedicated steam boiler, the Synchronika ensures remarkable temperature stability while enabling simultaneous brewing and steaming. Crafted with a sleek stainless steel housing, intuitive controls, and an advanced PID temperature controller, this machine offers precise customization and effortless navigation. Notable features, such as the E61 brew group and insulated boilers, guarantee consistent extractions and thermal stability, setting the Synchronika apart from the rest. Designed to cater to both home baristas and professionals, the ECM Synchronika embodies the epitome of espresso craftsmanship, harmonizing elegance, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional quality to create the perfect cup of coffee in the comfort of your own home.

Dual boiler system:
  • Stainless steel, insulated – Both boilers are stainless steel which is less susceptible to limescale. Typically, stainless steel boilers do not retain their heat as well as copper or brass boilers. This machine compensates that with insulation wrapping.
  • Safety thermostats – There are 2 safety thermostats on the top of each boiler for the extra added security. Furthermore, both boilers are easily accessible from the side if you need to reset the thermostats. There is 1 screw on the top of each side that holds the side panels in place.
  • Steam boiler – Large capacity for entertaining purposes. You can also shut off the steam boiler if you choose to only make espresso or pour hot water. The switch is behind the drip tray on the right side. This will help save power and the wear & tear on the boiler.
PID-control:
  • Displays the temperature of both boilers – The temperature is indicated by the position of the blinking dot on the display. If the dot is on the left, the temperature displayed is the coffee boiler. If the dot is on the right, the temperature displayed is the steam boiler.
  • Individual temperature adjustment of both boilers – Press both the “-” and “+” buttons at the same time to access the menu. The “t1” option is the coffee boiler temperature. Press the “+” button and then immediately use the “-” and “+” buttons to change the temperature. Once you set your desired temperature it will automatically be saved after 1 second. Press “-” to get to the “t2” option which is the steam boiler temperature. Follow the same previous steps to adjust.
  • Grouphead cleaning cycle – After the “t2” option in the menu is “Cln”. The PID control keeps track of how many shots you have pulled. Once the set amount has been reached, the display will show “Cln”, indicating the grouphead needs to be backflushed. The manual recommends to backflush between 90 – 140 cycles. We recommend to backflush after every 50 cycles.
  • Built-in shot timer – When you pull the grouphead lever up, the shot timer starts on the PID display.
  • Display off option – You can turn the PID display off by holding the “+” button. To turn the display back on, press the “+” button again.
Separate pressure gauges:
  • Steam pressure gauge – On the left. Measures from 0 to 3 bar. Optimal pressure is between 0.8 and 1.1.
  • Brew pressure gauge – On the right. Measures from 0 to 16 bar. Optimal pressure is between 8 and 10.
E-61 grouphead:
  • Constantly heated – Hot water circulates from the heat exchanger through the grouphead and back to keep the grouphead and your portafilter nice and hot. This keeps the grouphead at a constant, stable temperature in comparison to other groupheads that have a built-in heating element.
  • Pre-infusion – Lever next to the grouphead activates a microswitch which turns on the pump to pump water through the coffee grinds. Additionally, pulling the lever halfway up will open the valve to allow water into the grouphead without activating the pump. Please note that true pre-infusion requires the direct water connection whereby the water pressure from the waterline creates true pre-infusion.
Rotary vane pump:
  • Quiet operation – Rotary pumps are necessary for direct connect capable machines since vibration pumps cannot handle the incoming water pressure. The main benefit that you will experience is that they are a lot quieter.
  • Adjustable – No need to remove the body panel to access. The adjustment screw is located underneath the machine.
Switchable from a water tank to a direct water line connection:
  • Easy transition – After hooking up the water line (included) to your machine, all you need to do is activate the switch located behind the drip tray on the left side. Turn to the “1” position.
  • Drainable drip tray – There is a hole pre-drilled into the drip tray. The plastic catch basin (included) is installed onto the machine frame underneath the drip tray. The drain line (not included) hooks up to the catch basin.
Steam & hot water wands:
  • Multi-directional – Allows for more movement and flexibility. The wands are also connected to the valves on a 70° angle for even more flexibility.
  • “No burn” – Both wands are insulated to allow you to touch anywhere on the arm. Please note that after very long periods of steaming or pouring hot water, the arm will be too hot to touch. Thus, we recommend only touch the rubber grips on each wand.
  • 2-hole steam tip – Allows for a slow gradual build-up of microfoam.
Accessories included:
  • Portafilters – Single spout portafilter and a dual spout portafilter. Both handles match the style of the grouphead lever and are ergonomically designed with an angle for an easier operation to lock into the grouphead.
  • Filter baskets – 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams. Blind filter basket which is used for backflushing. 58 mm in diameter.
  • Tamper – Not a cheap plastic tamper, but a very nice solid 58 mm tamper. Style is similar to the portafilter handles and grouphead lever.
  • Cleaning brush – For cleaning the grouphead. Ergonomically designed with an angle for easier usage. The neck is equipped with special ridges to keep hot water from dripping to your hand.
  • Instruction manual – Language written in both German and English.

The ECM Synchronika double boiler espresso machine pairs well with the Eureka Perfetto Espresso Coffee Grinder.

  1. Comparison to the Profitec 700: Some customers have asked us about the differences between the Profitec 700 and the ECM Synchronika - both companies are owned by the same owner. There are some notable differences in that the ECM has a more refined body panel set, higher grade steam and hot water valves (you can even see the difference), the stainless steel mushroom in the top portion of the brew group, the PID fascia in a silver color to better match the machine, and a more durable anthracite-coated frame which is more durable than the black enamel paint on the Profitec. For this reason, we stopped selling the Profitec 700 espresso machine.

Finding your part
  • Please use the parts diagrams provided below to determine the part(s) you need. Then use our search box above to find the part(s) on our website. If no results come up, more than likely we do not stock the part.
  • If uncertain, please go to the equipment model or part product page. Then use the Q&A tab found on that web page to ask your question.
  • Lastly, and only if the first 2 options were exhausted, please use our parts inquiry page.
  • Our call center does not have the training to handle parts inquiries for over 60,000 different parts items. Asking any questions regarding parts will more than likely result in you being referred to the above steps.
  • Please note also that all parts purchases are non-returnable or refundable and do not include technical support, instructions, or warranties as the purchase price of any part does not cover the cost of technical support. Technical support is available for repairing equipment in our shop.
  • Sorry, we will only special order a part for a model we carry AND was purchased through our supply chain.
  • Since we are unaware of the mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing expertise of a parts buyer or the tools owned by a parts buyer, we are never able to advise if a self-repair can be performed.

It seems the steam fill solenoid on my ECM is malfunctioning. The pump runs continuously on turn on. If I ground the water fill wire after removing it from the fill sensor, the pump shuts off, and I can also get water from the head when I lift the lever. If I remove the steam water delivery tube from the top of the solenoid, and allow the machine to make a call for water to fill the boiler, no water comes out. I have removed the solenoid valve body and plunger and inspected, and do not see any scale or other dirt. That said, once I reassemble, the pump runs continuously (until auto-shutoff). I suspect this must be the solenoid? Do you have that part (if you concur), and some guidance on replacement?

It sounds like a solenoid valve failure as long as there is 110 volts to the valve's solenoid. Please review the parts diagrams on our web site. Please use our search box on our web site to search for availability and price. If not listed, it means we no longer carry the part.

    2. Do you have this part? ECM Synchronika part number from ECM is P6070.4. Its a plastic seal or o-ring that fits at the base of the steam valve assy where it bolts to the stainless plate that the brew group head and gauges are attached to. Your parts search did not reveal it.

I know its an inexpensive part and probaly not worth your time but the bar is down without it. Please let me know if youo can help. Thanks
