Bezzera Crema PM Espresso Machine – heat exchanger with semi-automatic push-button for coffee
The Bezzera Crema PM features the classic Bezzera stainless steel/white body with luxurious wooden knobs, which will give your home espresso bar some flair and beauty. If you plan on entertaining a small group with espressos, cappuccinos, coffee, and tea, then this might be the one for you! The Bezzera Crema PM incorporates a Mater pressurstat to control the boiler temperature as well as a thermostat on the heated Bezzera grouphead to make fantastic beverages.
The awesome looking coffee button on the top front illuminates while making espresso. The power switch, on the lower right side above the drip tray, has rubber protection. The upper light to the left of the switch is the power on light and turns green when the unit is powered on. The light below the power light is the low water light. The low water light will illuminate amber/yellow when there is enough water in the reservoir. It will turn off when there is not enough water in the reservoir.
The large dialed, dual gauge serves two purposes. The upper portion of the gauge indicates the steam pressure built up in the boiler. The lower portion is the brew pressure which indicates how much resistance is created by the grind fineness, the amount of ground espresso coffee in the basket, and the tamping pressure.
The wood portafilter handle is ergonomically designed with a slant for level tamping and smooth feel when inserting it into the grouphead.
Heat exchange system:
- Copper – The boiler is copper which retains heat better than stainless steel. Typically, copper boilers are more susceptible to limescale when you compare to stainless steel boilers. Therefore, we highly recommend using a water softener.
- Pull a shot & steam milk quickly – Steam is always readily available. Hence, there is no wait time going from coffee to steam mode or vice-versa.
- Boiler low water cut off – The heating element will not turn on unless the minimum water level sensor detects enough water to submerge the heating element.
- High limit safety thermostat – If the boiler pressure/temperature goes too high, the safety thermostat will cut off power to the heating element.
- Boiler safety valve – If the boiler pressure/temperature goes too high, the boiler safety valve will open to allow excessive steam pressure to be released from the boiler.
Tank/Reservoir:
- Particle filter – Protects the machine from any unseen particles from entering the Bezzera Crema espresso machine’s pump. You can keep this filter in place or remove it when installing the inline water softener to prevent limescale from damaging the Bezzzera Crema.
- Automatic boiler water supply – the brain unit refills the internal steam boiler when the boiler refill sensor.
- Water reservoir auto-shutoff – The low water cutoff under the reservoir prevents burning out the heating element. The water tank sits on a spring-activated plate. Once the water is low, the plate depresses the tank micro-switch which turns off the heating element. If installing the water softener, the switch may need to be lowered to shut off the machine sooner. In other words, place in the water softener, after recharging, and press the coffee switch to see when the tanks huts off the machine. The water level should be above the water softener laying down on its side. If standing up, then it should be ok.
Vibratory pump:
- Efficient – 41 watts, rated up to 15 bar with air valve bypass. You only need 9 bar to extract perfect espresso, and wattage has no correlation to longevity.
- Cost-effective – Pumps will degrade in performance over time. Replacing a vibration pump will cost less than a rotary vane pump.
Push-button settings:
- Push-button controls the group – This activates a vibration pump and opens the grouphead solenoid valve to pump water through your ground espresso coffee. When you have the amount you want, press the push-button again for the pump to stop.
Steam and hot water wands:
- Multi-directional – The multi-directional wands for hot water and steam allows for more movement and flexibility.
- Valves – Joystick activated typically with full open in an upwards locked position.
- Steam – Although the steam wand has a rubber grip, the steam wand has insulation inside to keep it cool to the touch when quickly moving.
Construction:
- Frame – Black enamel painted steel
- Wrap-around uni-body – White enamel paint
- Drip tray and Cover -polished stainless steel
- Top three covers – polished stainless steel
- Feet – stainless steel with plastic/rubber bottoms to curtail slipping
Accessories included:
- Dual spout filter handle – 58mm in diameter with a wooden handle.
- 1-cup filter basket – Holds 7g of coffee grounds.
- 2-cup filter basket – Holds 14g of coffee grounds.
- Blind filter basket – Meant for backflushing at 58mm in diameter.
- Plastic scoop – Great for using preground coffee.
- Plastic tamper – Common for most espresso machines to keep the overall selling price of machine low. We recommend upgrading to a better 58mm tamper. Check out two of them below!

General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:
- Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
- Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer’s defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
- Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
- Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
- Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?
