SIDEWALK SALE – Ascaso Steel Uno Professional Tank / Reservoir Espresso Machine – boiler

Overview:

The Ascaso Steel Uno Professional is an extraordinary home-model espresso machine. Ascaso has incorporated many improvements in Version 3 over the initial version:

  1. Increased cup height between portafilter and drip tray to 3.35 inches.
  2. Lateral removable (from right side) water reservoir allows easy access for refilling and cleaning without moving the machine away from overhead cabinets. The clear reservoir also allows you view the water level from the right side of the machine.
  3. The cool touch and multi-directional steam wand allows brief handling for moving the wand after steaming milk.
  4. The rubber protector over the wand allows holding the wand for longer periods of time.
  5. The steam wand is now made of stainless steel.
  6. The 325cL brass boiler with nickel plating incorporates a professional grade 3-way solenoid valve.
  7. The professional-grade 58mm portafilter handle designed with a 10 degree tilt for ergonomic handling.
  8. There is non-slip grip on portafilter handle.
  9. Ascaso includes a solid aluminum tamper.
  10. Highly polished filter baskets with microfine smooth holes provide superior extraction over the old baskets.

Ascaso has even stated the following advantages of the Steel Uno Professional over competing models in similar price ranges, and these include:

  1. Large size cup warmer (~14.5″ x 10.6″).
  2. Side rails (rear rail was removed from machines for the USA to provide greater area for cup warmer).
  3. Exterior body completely made of stainless.
  4. Boiler over grouphead design allows water to evenly heat grouphead whereas some other models have the boiler offset from the grouphead.
  5. Steam wand is multi-directional, professional 10mm grade, made in stainless, and includes internal hard plastic lining for cool touch capability and a 1 hole steam tip.
  6. Ergonomic, no-slip grip, professional grade portafilter assembly.

To enjoy the Ascaso Steel Uno Professional, it is important to run water through the steam wand after every steaming session, to descale the machine every 3-4 months, and to backflush once every 50 espresso extractions. In addition, if a timer is used to power up the machine, it is important to have the coffee, hot water and steam switches in the off position to avoid damage, and it important to place a surge suppressor rated 1080 joules or higher between the machine’s electrical plug and the timer as timers can cause surge damage. The water reservoir should be manually cleaned with non-abrasive dish detergent once every two weeks, and the drip tray should be emptied and cleaned every 3 days or less.

During normal operation, there is approximately a 30-45 second wait time to go from coffee mode to steam mode (after depressing the steam switch). One should always purge the steam wand before steaming/frothing milk. After steaming milk, the user can close the steam valve and depress the steam switch off. After placing a cup under the steam wand, the user can rotate the steam valve/knob to the open position, and the hot water switch must be depressed for the the pump to activate so that the ‘too hot steamed water’ exits through the wand and the temperature of the boiler can be brought down to make additional espresso.

Also, the three way solenoid valve operates to relieve the pressure on the filter basket immediately when you depress the coffee switch to off. This prevents the ‘explosion’ of coffee grounds that is normally found on home espresso machines without three way solenoid valves. The solenoid valve on this machine also assists in creating a dry puck after the extraction (please note there are certain coffees, grinds, and amounts of coffee that will make a wet extracted puck which no three way valve will compensate for). The relieved pressure exits to the drip tray and you will see.

Enjoy the Ascaso Steel Uno Professional preparing your favorite beverages! Espresso, cappuccino, latte, cafe americano, and hot chocolate to name a few!

Features:

  • Brushed stainless steel finished body over a black enamel painted steel frame.
  • Water reservoir removable from the right SIDE of the machine.
  • Nickel-plated brass boiler capacity: ~325cc.
  • Brass boiler is located directly over the brass grouphead for superior temperature stability compared to boilers that are offset from the grouphead.
  • Ergonomic-styled brass filter handle with plastic grip.
  • Slide out drip tray made of plastic for easy cleaning (please note drip tray cover is part of machine). Front portion of pull out drip tray is in brushed stainless steel.
  • Four selection switches: power on/off, espresso extracting, hot water, and coffee/steam mode.

Espresso Machine Warning:

  • ELECTRICAL WARNING: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. the lack of the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat or the wiring inside.
  • WATER WARNING: To increase the useful life of and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and without magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled water, purified water, nor reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale.
  • DESCALING WARNING: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. The reason is that too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine.

  1. The instructional manuals for Ascaso are printed for worldwide distribution and covers almost every model produced worldwide. With this in mind, there may be features, accessories, or colors available in Ascaso equipment in other countries, but not available in our models produced for the United States.
  2. Ascaso provides a 57mm tamper so it can reach deeper into the basket and in case one chooses to utilize different baskets where a 58mm will not fit.
  3. This machine is designed primarily for ground coffee. The pod filter basket works ok with ESE pods on this machine, but not as good as pods would work on Ascaso's Versatile models.

    2. Hi, I'm having an issue with i believe pressure build up in the machine. When I use the blind filter to clean it, i'm unable to remove the portafilter without letting some water out of the wand. I'm also failing to get a good back flush sound when either cleaning or making espresso. Is this an issue with the 3 way solenoid getting clogged somehow? I've descaled twice.

Sorry to hear about this. It could be a bad solenoid valve or it is clogged. There is no test of the solenoid except to replace it.

    4. Hi, i'm having an issue i think is related to pressure build up in the machine and don't know what is wrong with it. When i use the blind filter to clean it, after turn on the pump it fails to release the pressure and i cannot remove the portafilter without releasing some water from the steam wand first. When i make espresso its not making that solid SSHHH release of pressure after pulling a shot, its very faint. I think something is wrong and not sure what would need to be fixed. Can you advise what might be the issue?

A I downloaded the "ascaso steel uno professional (boiler version) parts diagram" from your website. The part numbers I.46, I.139 and I.138 on the 6th. page are the parts I need. My Teflon pipe I need the connection parts is 6mm outside dia x 4mm inside diameter. Can you help me? thanks, Jerry
A I'm not certain what the component is that the Teflon pipe connects the group boiler to. However, the bicone on the boiler end of the pipe is damaged and leaking. I can measure the outside diameter, inside diameter and length of the bicone and send that info to you if it will help in finding the correct part. The pipe reinforcement and nut are usable.

Sorry, we currently do not offer a maintenance kit at the time of this writing. It is important to know the month/year of manufacture for Ascaso as they constantly make changes and improvements in their products.

After unplugging the machine for the electrical outlet, please remove two screws in back top and then top cover in back is slightly lifted then slid off the back. Please review the diagram for the parts you need AFTER you confirm you have the same boiler size for the PRO. Part numbers can be searched on our web site. If no result, please remove the periods from the part number in the search.
