Ascaso I-Mini Flat Burr Espresso Coffee Grinder

The smallest of Ascaso’s coffee grinders, designed and created to be the perfect match for Ascaso home model espresso machines. Its size does not compromise its professional features, being a good option not only for home but for small professional establishments that work with different varieties of coffee (regular and decaffeinated) The Ascaso I-Mini Flat Burr offers high quality grinds in a compact package! Ascaso keeps the design simple on the I-Mini, making the grind quality at the forefront of its design and easily accessible for any home barista. 54mm flat steel burrs and stepless adjustments ensure precise and speedy grinding. Its sturdy aluminum body and petite proportions, the I-mini is a great addition for any countertop!

WARNING: Due to portafilter design, shape, and/or sizing, the following espresso machines and equipment brands are not compatible with this grinder:

All Gaggia, All Krups, All Delonghi, All Braun, All Mr. Coffee,  All Cuisinart and Elektra (Microcasa A Leva only)

54mm Flat Burrs

These tempered steel burrs are housed in a solid brass burr holder, producing consistent grinds.

Stepless Grinding Adjustment

The micrometric stepless adjustment system allows near-infinite settings for your coffee, making the I-mini very well-suited for fine-tuning espresso shots.

Doserless

Features a coffee chute which funnels the freshly ground coffee from the grinding chamber directly into a portafilter for your espresso machine or into a coffee filter for drip coffee.

Aluminum Body

A sturdy aluminum body not only helps the grinder rust-resistant but also keeps it light. After preliminary polishing, Ascaso treats the machine with a high-quality varnish (the same coating as used in Formula 1 and on boats), with a range of 3 colors and a choice of finishes – polished gloss or textured matte. As well as these colors, they also offer a mirror-polish finish, featuring an artisan-mechanical process that gives its own character to each piece.

Unbreakable Bean Hopper

Made of clear shatter resistant plastic and topped with a fitted, plastic lid. This hopper holds 250g of coffee beans (about 1/2 lb) depending on bean size. Also features a finger guard to prevent accidents.

Small Footprint

Standing at only 13″ tall and less than 5″ wide, the I-1 Mini offers ample room on anyone’s countertop!

Easy Cleaning

One important and often overlooked task required for owning a good coffee grinder is routine cleaning. To clean, just remove the coffee bean hopper and cover to expose the grinding chamber. All their components are designed for great durability and low maintenance.

  1. Changing grind settings: As with all coffee grinders, it is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered ‘on’ and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and require cleaning by you every time this occurs. Changing the grind settings when the burrs are not in motion will render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. If this result occurs, this will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.
  2. Finding coffee grinds in a new grinder: We have confirmed that the manufacturer tests EVERY grinder with coffee beans before it leaves their facility, but they are not always able to get every trace of coffee out of the grinders after testing. As a result, you may find coffee beans or grinds inside your grinder, or there may be grinds in the packaging when you unwrap it.
  3. Static issues: There are static issues with all grinders, even the highest quality models. We firmly believe that the static comes from the coffee beans. If you are having static problems with your coffee grinder, trying using a different blend of beans.
  4. Replacing burrs: NEVER use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to wedge under the burrs for removal. This could badly damage your grinder.
  5. Electrical cord: Please note that the electrical cord is placed between the packaging (foam or cardboard) and the underside body of the grinder. During shipping, it is normal for a bend or insignificant blemish / slice to damage the cord.

Espresso Grinder Warning

  • CLEANING WARNING: We recommend using grinder cleaning agents. We do not recommend any removal of the burrs or burr carrier for cleaning as re-assembly can cause damage.
  • ELECTRICAL WARNING: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso grinder which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. The lack of the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso grinder can be damaged at the power switch, the capacitor, the motor, or the wiring.

Hello, I recently bought an ascaso i-mini i1 flat burr. I feel as though it is not grinding fine enough for my la pavoni espresso machine. I opened the top cover and noticed there is a set screw keeping it from going fine. There is also 3 different holes that the set screw could be moved to. My question is, can I move the set screw/limiter to the next hole allowing it to grind finer, and if I do so is there a point in which I will damage the burrs. Thank you Aaron

Yes, you can change the position of the screw. However, there is potential risk of damage if the burrs lock up and the manufacturer will not cover this under warranty.
