Ascaso I-Mini Conical Burr Stepless Doserless Espresso Coffee Grinder

The Ascaso I-Mini Conical Burr is the smallest of Ascaso’s coffee grinders. It’s design makes it a perfect match for Ascaso home model espresso machines. Its size does not compromise its professional features, being a good option not only for home but for small professional establishments that work with different varieties of coffee (regular and decaffeinated).

This model, in its polished aluminum finish was selected by the Ambiente Trend Forum in Frankfurt as a trendy representative of coffee grinders in its section “Clean & Pure.” This clean & pure concept is enhanced by the use of the manually polished aluminum.

As of September 5, 2011, the grinder includes a filterholder guide – these are 2 small rods that help guide the portafilter. We do not suggest removing the rods as the holding nuts inside the unit will dislodge and may be difficult to put back into place. Please note the guides are a guide and they do not hold the portafilter in place. You must hold the portafilter as you are grinding.

WARNING: Due to portafilter design, shape, and/or sizing, the following espresso machines and equipment brands are not compatible with this grinder:

All Gaggia, All Krups, All Delonghi, All Braun, All Mr. Coffee,  All Cuisinart and Elektra (Microcasa A Leva only)

Professional blades

Plastic grinding group and a conical (cone shaped) grinding wheel (conical steel burrs).

Unbreakble coffee bean hopper

Made of clear shatter resistant plastic and topped with a plastic lid. There is no need to constantly refill the grinder. It will hold enough beans to brew approximately 90 shots of espresso.

Micrometric Regulation System (MRS)

AKA stepless adjustment. Controls the quality and consistency of the grinds. Allows for unmatched, precise adjustments to the grind setting, which is critical for espresso grinding.

Doserless

Features a coffee chute which funnels the freshly ground coffee from the grinding chamber directly into a portafilter for your espresso machine or into a coffee filter for drip coffee.

High quality of the materials and components

Made of aluminum.

Easy to clean

One important and often overlooked task required of owning a good coffee grinder is routine cleaning. To clean, just remove the coffee bean hopper and cover to expose the grinding chamber. All their components are designed for a great durability and low maintenance.

  1. Please note that grinders with the above stepless adjustment are not good candidates for grinding for multiple types of coffee brewing methods. The reason is that it is difficult to change settings from very course for french press to very fine for espresso as turning the adjustment knob countless times makes this impractical. however, to fine tune a grind for espresso, the stepless feature works great!
  2. The Basic Machine & The I Mini Grinder were selected for the international presentation of Tendences for the 2008 season.
  3. The instructional manuals for Ascaso are printed for worldwide distribution and covers almost every model produced worldwide. With this in mind, there may be features, accessories, or colors available in Ascaso equipment in other countries, but not available in our models produced for the United States.
  4. Power of machine is turned off by a manual switch (not timer).

  1. Changing grind settings: As with all coffee grinders, it is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered ‘on’ and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and require cleaning by you every time this occurs. Changing the grind settings when the burrs are not in motion will render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. If this result occurs, this will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.
  2. Finding coffee grinds in a new grinder: We have confirmed that the manufacturer tests EVERY grinder with coffee beans before it leaves their facility, but they are not always able to get every trace of coffee out of the grinders after testing. As a result, you may find coffee beans or grinds inside your grinder, or there may be grinds in the packaging when you unwrap it.
  3. Static issues: There are static issues with all grinders, even the highest quality models. We firmly believe that the static comes from the coffee beans. If you are having static problems with your coffee grinder, trying using a different blend of beans.
  4. Replacing burrs: NEVER use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to wedge under the burrs for removal. This could badly damage your grinder.
  5. Electrical cord: Please note that the electrical cord is placed between the packaging (foam or cardboard) and the underside body of the grinder. During shipping, it is normal for a bend or insignificant blemish / slice to damage the cord.

Espresso Grinder Warning

  • CLEANING WARNING: We recommend using grinder cleaning agents. We do not recommend any removal of the burrs or burr carrier for cleaning as re-assembly can cause damage.
  • ELECTRICAL WARNING: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso grinder which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. The lack of the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso grinder can be damaged at the power switch, the capacitor, the motor, or the wiring.
