Addendum to Rocky Rancilio Instructions

I. Use of Rancilio Rocky Grinder
1) Change grind settings only when grinder motor is running or on. Do not change settings if the grinder motor is not running.
2) The grinder is intended only for grinding coffee beans. Do not grind already ground coffee, spices, or any other items as this will VOID your warranty and immediately expire your return policy.

II. Cleaning Rancilio Rocky Burrs
1) Unplug unit
2) Remove bean hopper cover
3) Remove three screws located in safety guard inside bean hopper
4) Lift up bean hopper away from grinder
5) Spin out brass plate where the three screws were attached to
6) Vacuum coffee grinds from threads on brass plate and from grinding chamber
7) Clean burrs on brass plate and in grinding chamber with a sharp knife (be careful not to cut yourself)
8) With cotton swabs dipped in olive oil (or vegetable oil) remove ALL the coffee grinds from the threads on the brass plateand on the threads in the grinding chamber. It is critical to remove ALL coffee grinds as if you lweave any left over, you will not be able to screw down the brass plate enough to get a finer grinder.
9) Once all the grinds are removed, screw down the brass plate until you see the burr inside the grinding chamber move. Typically, the top brass plate will not move any further
10) From the front of the grinder, look for the forward most screw slot in the brass plate and rotate the brass plate counterclockwise until that screw slot is to the right of the grind selector button
11) Place on the bean hopper so the screws align with the screw holes and so that the lowest number setting is to the front.
12) Tighten three screws. Make sure not to overtighten as this will crack the hopper.

III. Troubleshooting
1) If the grinder does not grind coffee beans, this is a result of
a) the beans being held up from the finger guard, or
b) the burrs gunked up due to the change of grind settings when the grinder motor was not on. Please use instructions in Section II.
