Quamar M80E V2 Electronic Stepped Doserless Espresso Coffee Grinder

Performance ReDefined! Even your most aromatic coffee will result in great taste on the Quamar M80E. The unbelievable on demand controls have great flexibility and easy press buttons for 1, 2 & 3 cup doses, including a digital display.

The version 2 of the Quamar M80E has some amazing features not found on other doserless coffee grinders.

First, there are not 1, nor 2, BUT three programmable dosage buttons each with their own programmed time down to 1/20th of a second increments. Be careful, the dosage buttons are sensitive to make this grinder GO with 300 watts of power!

Second, you can program a ‘wear and tear’ reminder for burr replacements. This programming is based on the number of doses engaged. There is no longer a need to keep track of usage separately.

Third, there is a programmable sleep feature for the Quamar M80E grinder – the operator can program how many minutes of inactivity will power down the grinder and further enhance the useful life of the digital display.

Fourth, you can program the display to show any details you want. For example, a coffeehouse may have 4 of these grinders. Three can have the display show each blend that each grinder uses, and the fourth can display decaf so it becomes a dedicated decaf grinder.

Fifth, you can program  the time and date as well as the brightness of the digital display. One can also choose from multiple languages.

Sixth, the dosage counter really helps coffeehouses in monitoring productivity and sales. There is total count, partial count, and count for last 30 days.

M80E-grinding-adjustment

Grinding adjustment

  • Stepped – Adjustment dial is located underneath the hopper. The entire dial is numbered so you can remember your current grind setting easier. Turn clockwise for a coarser grind and counterclockwise for a finer grind.
  • Setting lock – A setting lock button keeps your current setting. Prevents users from accidentally altering it and spending time to find your correct setting again.
M80E-grinding-burrs

Grinding burrs

  • Flat burrs – Very large size at 63 mm. The larger the size, the more of a grinding surface, resulting in faster production.
  • High rpm – Faster spinning rate at 1600 rpm. The higher the speed, the faster the production, which can increase efficiency and reduce wait times.
  • Easy access – Remove the bean hopper. Turn the grinding adjust to the coarser direction until the top assembly comes off. This will give you access to the burrs and the grinding chamber. The burrs themselves are held in with Allen key screws.
M80E-electronic-controls

Electronic controls

  • Multiple dosing options – There are 4 dosing options. Single dose, double dose, triple dose, and manual dose.
  • Time based grinding – You can adjust the the time for each automatic dose up to 640 seconds max. Each adjustment goes by 0.05 second increments.
  • Power save mode – You can set the LCD display to dim after a certain time (from 1 minute to 999 minutes).
  • Burr replacement – You can set an alert for when your grinding burrs will need to be replaced (up to 200,000 doses or can turn off at 0 setting). Recommended setting is at 50,000.
  • BAR message – Customize your LCD display with a short message (ex. the current blend of beans in the hopper).
  • Brightness option – The brightness of the LCD display can be adjusted up or down to your comfort level.
  • Dosing count – This helps keep track of usage. Displays the total count (from 1st use), partial count (from last reset), and missing count (amount remaining until burr replacement alert).
  • Language option – A total of 8 languages available: Italian, English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish.
  • Password protection – You can enable a password so other users cannot change your settings.
M80E-bean-hopper

Bean hopper

  • Set screw – Secures the hopper to the grinder. Serves as a reminder for users from quickly removing a hopper full of beans.
  • Fingerguard – Prevents users from “accidentally” putting their fingers in the grinding burrs.
  • Stopper – A door near the bottom of the hopper can be pushed in to close the opening. This allows you to remove the hopper with beans inside so you can easily change the beans. There will be some beans already in the burr chamber which you must grind out first before removing the hopper.
M80E-portafilter-fork

Portafilter fork

  • Ease of use – Allows your portafilter to sit while grinding. There is no need to hold it with your hand. Accommodates most portafilters. The clearance from the fork to the funnel is approximately 2.625″.
  • Removable – The fork can be removed if you wish to grind into a container. There are 2 Phillips screws that hold the fork in place. The clearance from the funnel is approximately 5″.
M80E-accessories

  1. Changing grind settings: As with all coffee grinders, it is very important to only change grind settings when the unit is powered ‘on’ and the burrs are in motion. If you do not do this, the burrs will ‘gunk’ up and require cleaning by you every time this occurs. Changing the grind settings when the burrs are not in motion will render the grinder to only produce very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. If this result occurs, this will be considered operator error for lack of following directions, and not be classified as a defective grinder.
  2. Finding coffee grinds in a new grinder: We have confirmed that the manufacturer tests EVERY grinder with coffee beans before it leaves their facility, but they are not always able to get every trace of coffee out of the grinders after testing. As a result, you may find coffee beans or grinds inside your grinder, or there may be grinds in the packaging when you unwrap it.
  3. Static issues: There are static issues with all grinders, even the highest quality models. We firmly believe that the static comes from the coffee beans. If you are having static problems with your coffee grinder, trying using a different blend of beans.
  4. Replacing burrs: NEVER use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to wedge under the burrs for removal. This could badly damage your grinder.
  5. Electrical cord: Please note that the electrical cord is placed between the packaging (foam or cardboard) and the underside body of the grinder. During shipping, it is normal for a bend or insignificant blemish / slice to damage the cord.

  1. Manual switch models: These models are no longer being produced by the factory.

Espresso Grinder Warning

  • CLEANING WARNING: We recommend using grinder cleaning agents. We do not recommend any removal of the burrs or burr carrier for cleaning as re-assembly can cause damage.
  • ELECTRICAL WARNING: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso grinder which is not considered a manufacturer's defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. The lack of the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso grinder can be damaged at the power switch, the capacitor, the motor, or the wiring.

It is really a dull black. It is not a very shiny finish, but the matte color has a very dull shine. Thus, it is called dull black.

    8. I purchased a new Quamar M80/E from your company in 2017. The unit has been in storage up until today when we first attempted to use it. We set the grinder as fine as we can get it but it still will not grind fine enough.

Please note equipment should be checked/inspected/tested within the first 5 days of receipt as to make sure there were no issues from shipping. In addition, having this brand new grinder in storage for such a long time has expired the warranty.

In your case, it may be simple. While the grinder is powered on and running without beans in the hopper, take the adjustment setting to the coarsest setting. Power off the grinder, fill the bean hopper with beans, then power on and run the grinder. While it is running, slowly turn the adjustment dial finer. This will clean out the burr set as many European grinders will only grind coarse when the settings were adjusted without the grinder running.

If this procedure does not correct the situation, then the grinder will need to be shipped in to be manually cleaned or re-adjusted.

In general, if a product is NSF Certified, it will state it in on the page. If NSF is not stated, then the product is NOT NSF Certified.

    12. I had a clog and in an effort to get at the dispensing spot, removed a screw from the right hand side (one on each side near the top... small machine screw). Now I can't get it back in. Contrary to this, I'm pretty mechanical and could reseat the screw if I had some sort of schematic. The machine seems to be working but grinding VERY clumpy. Any input would be appreciated. Frank

Sorry to hear about this. The clogging and clumping usually happens when the grind setting is too fine. Users usually make the grind setting too fine because there is not enough coffee in the 2 cup basket.

All schematics available are on our web site for your reference.

    14. The Quamar M80E V2 Commercial Doserless Espresso Coffee Grinder – electronic, in polished aluminum lists a height of 19 inches, while the black version lists 16.5. Is the difference a full sized hopper versus the short hopper? If so can the polished aluminum version be shipped with the short hopper, amd if so will the height be 16.5”? When do you anticipate having the aluminum in stock? Thank you Thomas

Over the years, we have requested Quamar to replace the large hopper with the shorter one. Including the last shipment, they have failed to fulfill our requests. However, we will replace the large hopper with stock and should be close to the 16.5".

The height is approximate. We state this because many manufacturers source their hoppers, lids, collars, and feet from different sources. This impacts the exact height. Therefore, if he grinder height is close to the overhead cabinets, its best to email us to confirm the exact height immediately before ordering.

The last shipment had the smaller hoppers, but they failed to put on the rubber gaskets on top of the bean hopper.  Luckily, a customer informed us and we shipped one gasket from parts stock. Quamar later sent us the gaskets to put on their M80 espresso grinders.

Next shipment probably due 2nd quarter, 2018. Please keep in mind European manufacturers build 110 volt equipment when they receive an order. In other words, they do not stock 110-120 volt equipment.

    16. Is this polished model available with the shorter hopper as well? If so, is it the same price?

Yes, at the time of this writing, the unit should have the smaller bean hopper. However, sometimes Quamar, without any notification, ships with the larger hopper.

When ordering, please request to switch to the smaller bean hopper in the comments section of the order.
