I have a Strega TOP model and it is plumbed. The line pressure entering the machine is set to 2 bars. When I replaced the boiler fill solenoid with a new one purchased from 1rst-line, the boiler overfills completely overnight, even with the machine turned off. I suspect it is a small internal leak trough the solenoid valve since it takes several hours for the water to overflow through the boiler's vacuum breaker (with the machine turned off). I inspected and cleaned the valve multiple times to eliminate any possible contamination from water coming in (even though I have a filter) but it did not solve the problem. The only way the machine can operate normally is if I use the reservoir instead of direct connect plumbed. Just looking for help where to go from here. Should I purchase another solenoid to see if the one I have is defective, or it is something different that could be happening? Thanks in advance for you help.

A I had a similar problem with a BZ40, but it was a big leak into the boiler, and it turned out the heat exchanger tube had ruptured and was filling through this normally closed route, which was due to freezing when stored in a garage. Was the machine stored in a cold area before use? Otherwise, if your line pressure wasn't regulated (are you sure it's reading correctly?), I'd suspect too high of pressure damaging the fill solenoid.
A I checked the pressure regulator under the sink and it reads 2 bars. I double checked the pressure on the group head with a PF gauge without the pump on and it confirms approximate 2 bars. Regarding the heat exchanger issue, this machine has never been stored anywhere in the cold. However, if a small leak developed on heat exchanger at 2 bars, that would explain why it overfills the boiler even when the machine is turned off overnight. I might try to connect 2 bars line to the heat exchanger and block the boiler fill entrance from the solenoid to figure out which one is the culprit. Thank you for the information it was really helpful.
A Since you verified no freezing temperatures and regulated water pressure, I'd unscrew the outlet from the solenoid, with house water hooked up, to see if it's leaking past the solenoid. If it's not, you'll need to pull the heat exchanger to take a look.
