Lelit 9700015 1/4″ Bleeder / Vacuum Breaker Valve

Lelit High Quality Bleeder / Vacuum Breaker Valve – Used for Lelit Elizabeth espresso machine models with serial number 265330 and earlier.

PLEASE CHECK THE VALVE USED IN YOUR MACHINE BEFORE ORDERING THIS PART.

For Elizabeth V3 machines, serial number 265331 and later, please use SKU MC9700052.

The purpose of this 1/4″ valve is to remove the vacuum pressure in the boiler. Without this valve or if stuck in the closed position (usually gets stuck in open position), the boiler will create a vacuum pressure when the machine is cooled down with steam inside. This vacuum pressure will give a false reading to the pressurstat and the machine will not heat up the next time the machine is powered on, unless the steam or hot water valve is opened to release the vacuum pressure. Hence, the name breaker or bleeder valve.

It is normal for this part to spew a little water and steam when the machine is warming up. It is not normal to constantly pour water out (due to using distilled or purified water) or constant steam (indicating of oxidation and/or limescale build up). In the latter case, this part should be replaced, and the machine needs to be descaled. In addition, the water must be treated with a water softener in the tank.

Is there a way to establish if this valve is good or failed? Should the top be loose, sprung, or fixed in place?

Loose when machine is cold. Springs up when machine is heated. Leaks a little water is normal when steam just starts to build steam pressure in the boiler.

It fails by sticking up when cold or leaks steam after full warm up.

    2. My pressure valve is leaking and it does not seal. Is this a difficult part to change? I have not flushed my Mara because in the manual states not to flush the machine.

      Sorry for the delay.

We are unsure what you mean by pressure valve. There is a overpressure valve for excess pump pressure. There is a vacuum pressure bleeder valve for vacuum pressure which normally leaks a little water on start up. Then there is a steam pressure safety valve for reliving excess pressure when the boiler overheats and this is to prevent the machine from exploding.
