If counter space permits the use of a dedicated espresso only grinder, this is the better choice. the reason is that the consistency of the grind fineness is superior and the durability and reliability of the grinder itself increases.
There are two versions of an espresso only grinder: doser and doserless. The doser version is better for entertaining and is cleaner in operation. the doserless version is better for 1-4 espresso shots per session as there is less waste, but it is usually more messy as the grinds usually flow over or spill outside the filter handle's basket.
One final note... contrary to many instructional manuals of these grinders, it is ALWAYS better to change setting while the grinder motor is running. If not, we have customers who experienced 'gumming' of the burrs. In other words, the coffee grind and oils adhere to the burrs, and the grinder will only grind very coarsely.
