• Training - The open bottom allows direct view of how your espresso is extracting. By noticing things such as multiple streams, off-center shots, etc, you are able to learn how to remedy these problems.
• Perfection - By learning what produces a good shot, you ultimately produce better coffee. Bottomless or naked portafilters produce more crema by coming in contact with less surfaces. The lack of contact with a portafilter bottom, or spout ensures your crema bubbles stay in tact.
